The story is out that Dotcom’s evidence for tonight is an email. The NZ Herald reports:

key dotcom

“Alleged email from Hollywood exec claims PM in on plan to extradite Dotcom”

– Purported email is the evidence Kim Dotcom plans to reveal tonight

– Said to be written by Warner Bros CEO at time of Hobbit negotiations

– PM allegedly in on plan to have Dotcom extradited to US

– Key and Warner Bros yet to respond to claims

[..]

It is the evidence which Dotcom is planning on producing at the Moment of Truth event tonight.

It is also contrary to every assurance the Prime Minister has ever given about his knowledge of Dotcom.

The source of the email is shrouded in mystery and there are likely to be arguments over its authenticity.

Calls from the Herald to Warner Bros, the MPAA and the Prime Minister have yet to bring a response.

I look forward to the latest shift by John Key in the story he’s telling. here is the content of the email referred to in the above article:

The claimed email reads: “We had a really good meeting with the Prime Minister. He’s a fan and we’re getting what we came for. Your groundwork in New Zealand is paying off. I see strong support for our anti-piracy effort.

“John Key told me in private that they are granting Dotcom residency despite pushback from officials about his criminal past. His AG will do everything in his power to assist us with our case. VIP treatment and then a one-way ticket to Virginia.

“This is a game changer. The DOJ is against the Hong Kong option. No confidence in the Chinese. Great job.”

[…]

It is dated the day before the decision to grant Dotcom residency on October 28.

Russell Brown Tweet with a copy of the email:

The email also is interesting in the light of the timing of John Key leading a law change, undermining the rights of NZ workers, in the interests of Warner Brothers.

Warner Flag

Waiting for Key’s response with interest.

Update: Helen Kelly has just tweeted:

And here is an article by Gordon Campbell, written in July 2014, about a related email trail discussed in the Dotcom court case.  He supports the argument that Dotcom was granted residency in NZ in order to deliver him up for extradiction to the US.

The NZ Herald has now updated the above article, with a counter claim that the email is fake:

However, Warner Bros told the Herald the email was a fake. Paul McGuire, the movie studio’s senior vice president for worldwide communications, told the Herald: “Kevin Tsujihara did not write or send the alleged email, and he never had any such conversation with Prime Minister Key.”

Update (r0b): Who was applying the “political pressure”?

political-pressure

lprent: Cameron Slater is purporting to know what he is talking about with this email. All he has managed to prove is that he is technically an idiot.

In one part of his “proof” he is saying that this image of the email

Does not conform with what an email text looks. The problem is that compares it with the internal format of an email header, a format known as RFC822 and its various subsequent modifications. That stipulates that the timezone and or offset from universal time is specified.

The problem for the poor deluded fool is that the image is of a email displayed in an email reader. They don’t have to display it that way. They usually display in local time.

In this case that (from an offhand look and from memory)  looks exactly like the command line email reader in unix.

I’d point out that I have been programming RFC822 readers since 1990.

He will claim the email is fake. Unless the email can be verified, this specific issue will end in a stalemate.

    I see they quickly planted to forgery meme but I think the PM has lost the chance to say they meant my offic enot me by this;

““John Key told me in private ”

I wonder if it was presented in Court today and that is why it is out now?

    Subject line is megaRIP…

Is it a deliberate forgery leaked by the Black Ops lads to then be able to discredit it and claim etc etc…

    • karol 2.1

Why would it be presented in court?

      • Tracey 2.1.1

He’s back in Court today (well he isn’t but his legal team are) and showing that there is a conspiracy surrounding him is part of the strategy I understand he is running. This could explain why the announcement was scheduled for today and why his lawyer from the states is in Auckland. He is seeking a Judicial Review of the decision not to make the FBI hand everything over (copies thereof) that they took

            curiouser and curiouser…

Did we expect warners to say “Fair cop, we have been behind this whole thing?”

Dotcom has also promised an affidavit to go with his “Moment of Truth” bombshell:

Kim Dotcom has told ONE News he will produce an affidavit tomorrow, as part of his “moment of truth”, proving there was political pressure to grant his residency in 2010.

            • Ant 2.1.1.1.1.2

Something to think about is Key being non-committal and evasive while Warner’s flat out deny everything.

              • Tracey

Well, he (Key) does seem to be denying by stating he only ever met “Kevin” (Warners CEO) in public (by which he means with other people present)

        • ghostwhowalksnz 2.1.1.2

KDC has all ready won the fight to get all his data seized back.
Your link is to a completely separate case to his extradition.

Its about the decision to grant him residency with its political connitations

          • karol 2.1.1.2.1

            Ah. Ok. Thanks for that.

  3. mickysavage 3

    Bet me to it Karol!

There is another really unfortunate piece of information, the suggestion on the SIS file from 5 days before this email that political pressure had been applied to the SIS to let Dotcom stay.

I posted earlier (http://thestandard.org.nz/dotcom-who-applied-the-political-pressure/) about the pressure on the SIS.

    In particular I said this:

That day [October 22, 2010] the Hobbit dispute was raging out of control. There are dating back to that time a series of perceptive posts by IrishBill which gave a real sense of the games that were being played by National and by Warner Brothers. This post written the day before and the 516 comments attached to it clearly captured the intensity of what was happening. So on the Friday when the dispute was raging hardest political pressure was applied to let Dotcom stay in New Zealand against advice. Hooton claims that the conspiracy theory that Dotcom’s scalp was negotiated between Warner Brothers and the Government could be “a bit fanciful”. But give me a tin foil hat and call me a conspiracy theorist there has to be a better explanation than Coleman’s “nothing to see here”.

So the SIS referred to political pressure being applied and five days later the Chief Executive of Warner Bros confirms that John Key himself was in on the decision.

Of course this is nothing to be worried about, just an unfortunate series of coincidences and everyone but the Prime Minister is wrong …

    • politikiwi 3.1

      Well observed, Mickey. Thanks.

    • karol 3.2

Thanks. Excellent series of posts. And i also just added a link to my post to Gordon Campbell’s article (published a couple of days before yourS, micky), which also supports the alleged plan to entrap KDC in NZ.

      • Tracey 3.2.1

here is early reporting of Key’s denial

” Key has repeatedly denied discussing Dotcom’s case with movie studio executives or anyone else and insists the first he heard about Dotcom was at a briefing the day before the raid.

Key responded today saying: “I do not believe that to be correct, I have no recollection of the conversation that’s alluded to in that email.

“There are no records there and the meetings that I had were with other people around me, so in the end, we’re going to get to the bottom of it but we don’t have any record of it.

“In all the meetings that I had with Mr Tsujihara were in public, with other people being there.

Asked if the other executives would back him up, Key replied: “In the end, you’ll have to talk to Kevin [Tsujihara], but the meetings that I had with him were with lots of other people around me.”

Key said he was only made aware of the email 10 minutes before speaking with media, but he would be checking with the relevant Hollywood executives the authenticity of the email.

“But look, I’d never heard of the guy [Dotcom] I’d never been briefed on the guy, so i can’t recall any conversation with him, I don’t believe it to be correct – we’ll go and check that out.”

Key said he believed the email was sent by one of the executives to the MPAA.

Key flatly rejected being involved in any plan to extradite Dotcom to the US. “

        • Tom Jackson 3.2.1.1

Duncan Garner said on the radio that the media were barred from coming anywhere near the meeting held on that night.

        • yeshe 3.2.1.2

isn’t this the same Hollywood exec that Key was friends with prior to all this happening ? have to check my Hollywood Reporter’s lawyer book about it …. but Key knew one of the execs very well beforehand .. sure it was this “kevin”.

  6. JanMeyer 6

This email is almost comically “helpful”. Wise move referring to it as an “alleged” email

    • Tracey 6.1

Next you will suggest the GCSB are used to clarify it’s falsehood or otherwise.

Will you consider that Slater and his Cabal of low lifes could have released a fake as part of their proven strategy of undermining democracy?

      • JanMeyer 6.1.1

No idea but the email seems too “perfect” don’t you think?

        • Tracey 6.1.1.1

I agree it is very damning, but DotCom did say many weeks ago he had something very damning?

The thing is you were quick to refer to it as “comically” helpful and suggesting wisdom to call it alleged while having no opinion on whether the Black Ops brigade could be doing a kind of double bluff? have you read Hollow Men or Dirty Politics?

        • Tom Jackson 6.1.1.2

The perfect fit for a hole in reality is the missing fact.

      • hoom 6.1.2

Actually, I really would love to know what extent of spying there was on this Warner Bros/Hobbit meeting.

In theory they should have been keeping a close eye on it as it potentially (& from the outside appears to have actually) involved collusion of senior elected officials with external interests against the interests of NZ.

    • Lanthanide 6.2

No, if it were sent or received by John Key, it would be very convenient and hard to rebut.

This can easily be called a fake and everyone involved can just lie.

      • Tracey 6.2.1

        The PM lie????

The thing is people here already are more prepared to discuss the possibility of it being a fake than the Right are ever prepared to discuss the possibility that the Pm lies, over and over again

  7. Valleyman 7

If this is true, surely Key must resign immediately.

  8. tinfoilhat 8

I’m one of the more anti-National people amongst my group of friends but I must say I wish Kim dot com would just go away.

    • karol 8.1

I just wish John key would go away. The Hobbit law was enough on its own to inspire such a wish.

      • Tracey 8.1.1

I agree. It is astounding to me that his interference on behalf of the Hollywood executives was brushed aside by Kiwis.

      • tinfoilhat 8.1.2

I agree Karol but this Dotcom sideshow is causing all the good policies released by the Green party and others to be lost in a heap of scuttlebutt while the media run around like headless chooks hanging on Dotcom’s every utterance.

I think the likely outcome of this latest circus will be to put even more people off voting which is a shame if the media spent more of its time presenting the different parties policy rather than making the election all about Dotcom and themselves perhaps more people would be inclined to vote.

        • Tracey 8.1.2.1

NO, the ongoing lies and lies and lies of this Govt are causing that.

        • karol 8.1.2.2

The Hobbit law, collusions with Warners, the MPAA, NSA, etc, have all been ongoing issues in the term of this government.

They include significant policy areas like employment law, workers’ rights, the TPPA, copyright laws, the role and practices of the GCSB, practices involved in promoting NZ’s screen industry, etc, etc.

        • framu 8.1.2.3

i would suggest it doesnt matter anyway – the media were never going to give the left and especially the greens/internet – mana a fair go regardless

Has the Herald said where they got the email? Was it released by KDC’s team?

    • Tracey 11.1

No they said it’s source is unclear.

      • weka 11.1.1

What does that mean? Someone emailed it to them anonymously?

        • Tracey 11.1.1.1

“The source of the email is shrouded in mystery and there are likely to be arguments over its authenticity.”

          whateverthefuckthatmeans

slipped under the door at lunchtime?

          and meanwhile

“However, Warner Bros told the Herald the email was a fake. Paul McGuire, the movie studio’s senior vice president for worldwide communications, told the Herald: “Kevin Tsujihara did not write or send the alleged email, and he never had any such conversation with Prime Minister Key.”

Mr McGuire said: “The alleged email is a fabrication.”

Mr McGuire said Warner Bros had conducted a “thorough internal review” before dismissing the email. The review would have taken place in just over two hours between the Herald asking questions of the studio and the response.

The MPAA’s Kate Bedingfield also dismissed the email. She said: “Mike Ellis never received this alleged email or discussed this matter with Kevin Tsujihara.””

          • McFlock 11.1.1.1.1

a “thorough review” in two hours, huh 🙂

I wondered if they thought to search the “deleted” box as well as the “sent”…

          • framu 11.1.1.1.2

Mr McGuire said Warner Bros had conducted a “thorough internal review” before DELETING the email. 🙂

          • Aaron 11.1.1.1.3

But the Herald also said they got it from an OIA request – how can it be shrouded in mystery AND and OIA request?

Obviously someone is going to have to do an OIA request to find out where the OIA request came from.

  12. Karen 12

Evidently there is going to be an affidavit produced tonight that will, I assume, support the authenticity of the email contents if not the email itself.

Don’t know what it all means as far as the election goes. I do wish this had come out earlier, and this election had been about policies, but then I suspect the MSM would never have talked about policy anyway.

  13. Tracey 13

This is just one email, DotCom has said he has documents (plural).

An affidavit I assume can ONLY prove the authenticity of that email if an annexure to the email is from someone who checked its authenticity. In that case an affidavit from the person doing the authenticating is the best evidence.

  14. Roflcopter 14

KDC offers $5M for proof of conspiracy… and then an email turns up.

    Hilarious.

    • Tracey 14.1

Where have you been? two hours and that is your best shot?

IF DotCom has that email (and we don’t know it is his) and intends using that email in Court he will have to prove its authenticity.

    • rich the other 14.2

I hope he paid the full $5 million for it , he should have come and seen me first I would have printed one for much less .
      This really is a joke.

  15. Macro 15

That email will be about as fake as John Key is honest.

  16. r0b 16

Updated the post (pardon me Karol). Who was applying the “political pressure”?

  17. Valleyman 17

I doubt very much the email is a fake, Kim Dotcom could not afford to use fake emails, it would not be in his interests to risk doing something like that. Of course Warner Bros will be claiming its fake, because they don’t want to be seen interfering with politics of another country.

  18. McFlock 18

The speculation is a definite giveaway that even the MSM think key knows no bounds.
Key’s been trying to pre-burn speculation about mass surveillance plans, the msm have been speculating about whether we spy on trading partners or even allies, and now this email…

for such a nice guy, people sure seem to expect the worst of dunnokeyo 🙂

  19. Te Reo Putake 19

I’m starting to wonder if Key has been suckered by the Herald’s story. He has replied by again denying knowing he knew of the plan to grant Dotcom residency in order that KDC be swiftly extradited. He should have said nothing. If anything, ‘so, I hear Warners say it’s a fake and and at the end of the day …’ By putting aside the authenticity of the email as a defence he has focussed instead on his alleged Big Lie. That’s an all or nothing stance, an unusual tactic for a serial fibber and fudger.

If Dotcom has deliberately leaked the email as a ‘teaser’ to get Key to repeat the supposed porkie, or even to just talk about the extradition plot at all, then Key has set himself up and it would be a simple coup de grace for KDC to provide evidence of the collusion tonight. Key de Grace?

Key’s gone if there is any corroboration.

But even if KDC can’t follow through tonight, then Key’s credibility is still the issue four days out from an election. That’s not at blueprint for an election winning strategy. Good times!

    • Tracey 19.1

You can see why it was SO important to discredit DotCom in the yes of the public

    • yeshe 19.2

House of Cards …. black ops within black ops pretending to be white ops … Key is going to need a VERY good memory this week to stay on top of all the porkies at once ….

Good luck tonight KDC ! Hope they make you senior consultant to Minister of Technology in the new govt. Bring NZ to where we need to be !

Is it worth remembering here that Kim Dotcom was only 15 years old when he hacked into NASA to see if aliens really existed; and then hacked into and changed the German Chancellor’s personal credit rating at a major bank because he simply didn’t like him.

These are his major crimes, and when he was convicted, the German govt chose instead to give KDC $1,000,000 to start his own security company. .. and do the government’s as well, but this last fact I am not so sure about.

I’m backing him, his skills and intellect against all of them .. Key, NSA, Hollywood, GCSB et al. Bring it on tonight !! Kia Kaha.

  20. tsmithfield 20

If this e-mail was genuine, then why hasn’t Dotcom used it in his extradition proceedings, as it would surely be highly beneficial to his case.

Anyway, Slater has done some good technical analysis of the e-mail I know Slater isn’t the most popular entity on this site, however, an objective reading of his logic on this one makes it fairly obvious that the “e-mail” is a fake.

[lprent: Nope. It just shows that Cameron Slater is a fake and an idiot when he starts talking about technical matters. He is comparing the output of a email reader (in this case probably a unix command line one) with the RFC822 definition of an email header. He is comparing a apple with an orange and making himself look like a banana (ie a dickhead).

I’ve been working with the RFC822 and its various enhancements since about 1990. It is damn obvious that Slater is just repeating someones mischief and he is too stupid to understand the email format. ]

    • karol 20.1

I think KDC has been planning to use such an email in his case. But the case hasn’t got that far yet. His lawyers are currently asking for more of the documents the prosecution/FBI/GCSB won’t release.

    • Tracey 20.2

Problem with Slater is well documented. In any event he may well be speaking from intimate knowledge if he faked it.

    • framu 20.3

because the extradition hasnt case hasnt actually started yet? (im guessing here – but pretty sure all events so far have been the prelims to the actual case)

yes – hes totally trustworthy aye – why did you even bother with that? anywhere? Let alone here?

that guy doesnt know what objective means and hes in the pay of the nats and big corporates to run their dirt – its like asking a junkie for an objective view of heroin

      Sep 10 at 2:58 PM.

It would be one of those things where there are more combinations than you can poke a stick at.

On Farragoblog, there was comment about the font (sigh)
Apparently its not the done thing to use Courier ( non proportional) font.

Then someone found a url about formatting at Warners in , you guessed it, Courier !
Its is the done thing for screenplays apparently

    • Tracey 20.6

oh dear, Slater wrong again… when will you learn to stop using him ad a source for anything

  21. karol 21

No deial from KDC so far that it is not the email he plans to use tonight. The NZ Herald has they have confirmed the email is the one KDC will use in his Big Reveal tonight.

  22. Rich 22

I’m starting to wonder what will happen next? Provocation at the meeting tonight? Election called off? It’s getting very dicey out there.

Greenwald leading his website on Key telling porkies:

    Ed Snowden writes:
Let me be clear: any statement that mass surveillance is not performed in New Zealand, or that the internet communications are not comprehensively intercepted and monitored, or that this is not intentionally and actively abetted by the GCSB, is categorically false. If you live in New Zealand, you are being watched.

The Immigration Act 2009 came into effect on 29 November 2010.

Dotcom came into NZ under Investor 1 Category, basically $10 million got you in (show me the money).

When it comes to category 1 the applicant had to be of good character and
“Proving the funds have been legally earned”
    http://www.woburn.co.nz/investors/

Dotcom would have been under the radar of the National Security Agency NSA. I now suspect that the plot to get Dotcom using NZ immigration law goes back further than in my comment of 18 July 2014 4.45 pm, numbered 11.1 under the topic 90 Minutes, Extra Time, Then Penalties. At the time of writing this I had not read Gordon Campbell’s comment.

Too hard for me to post a direct link see Treetop@ if interested.

    Anne your comment was astute.

Key has himself to blame for allowing Dotcom entry into NZ.

  29. Hammering the nails in…

MANA Movement Leader and Te Tai Tokerau MP Hone Harawira has today lodged a Privileges Complaint with the Speaker regarding the Prime Ministers denials in parliament that he knew anything about Kim Dotcom before 2012.
“Information made public today appears to contradict John Key’s statements and I have therefore asked the Speaker to refer it to the Privileges Committee for investigation.”
“This is a very serious matter and needs to be properly and formally looked at, especially as it involves the Prime Minister.”
Mr Harawira said he was also looking forward to hearing more from Glen Greenwald about the GCSB spying on New Zealanders.
“Unfortunately I can’t be there tonight in person as I am appearing ton the Te Tai Tokerau Native Affairs debate tonight on Maori Television, but I applaud Mr Greenwald’s determination to let new Zealanders know what their government is up to.”

Our Kiwi says,we know John Key knew where Dotcom lived long before his lie of saying i never. We also know about state survalence. What Dotcom and should produce is for a human presence saying i know our Prime Minister new about Dotcom, when he lied to say he did not.Dotcom, and his expensive freinds tonight will only confirm that we already know about state survallence. What they will not do,more so Dotcom,to produce a body to say ,i was their with John KEY,while discussing this bilionare who lives in his electorate. And that is where Dotcom shall fail,to prove our knowing of our Prime Minesters lies,no human standing.Plenty of intelligence sculldugery that all these intelligence orginisations are openly prepared to hide behind under state security to lie about and that is where Keys lie is secure.Maybe, the more obvious challenge should be,has our Prime Minister used his position as our state security protector, used his position as our protector to his personal advantage as our Prime Minister to cover up a lie he has told our parliament.

  31. dave 31

everything about this John key prick and national party is dismissed they break the laws ,use the sis to destroy opponents ,undermine NZ workers, sell valuable assets for pennies on the dollar ,lie constantly about poverty ,cut deals with there cronies use our taxes as there own bank book ,rip money off disabled kids give to private schools ,hold back money from so call scum of Christchurch , whack up gst to give themselves tax cuts at our expense , pass laws allowing to pollute and destroy the enviroment ,

  32. Dv 32

AND where is team key helping him out?

  33. Valleyman 33

I went & read the article on whaleoil & did a search how slater did using the search term “MegaRIP” “kim dotcom & it pulled up the same results as slater & went to the search result slater had highlighted saying it was 15 hours old
    http://www.veooz.com/news/VHUhEE_.html
I went to that website & the story at the top of the page is titled “Dotcoms bombshell : Key in on Dotcom extradition & just below it, it says TVNZ 18 hours ago. If you click on the title it takes you to the TVNZ website to an article titled
“Key and Warner Bros rubbish Dotcom’s ‘bombshell’ email”
    updated 18:43
Published: 3:00PM Monday September 15, 2014 Source: ONE News
So as you can see Slater is an epic failure & trying to make something out of nothing.
I come to this conclusion just by reading things properly & anybody else that follows my deductions will find the same conclusion.
Slater has proved himself to be an utter idiot yet again.

  34. Sable 34

You have to wonder how bad Keys government can get. This is pretty damning stuff. Trust the Tory bullhorn to try to discredit it.

  35. Ted Blaikie 35

If the alleged email from Warner Bros CEO is taken at face value it would establish that John Key has acted as corporate Hollywood’s “little henchman”.

  36. Once Was Tim 36

The email is ‘fake’ – as I understand it, on the basis that it doesn’t show an IP address. Is this others’ understanding of the claim (going forward, to coin a phrase, ez a metta of fek ekshully) ?

[lprent: Huh? Who expects a email printed from a mail reader to show RFC822 headers? Someone who is technically an idiot?]

What I find interesting (and from personal experience having witnessed a sniffer attached to Wellington’s CityLink and WIX where a shitload of content was available (from an office in Boulcott Street), and only reliant on the integrity of the viewer), is that there is an assumption that there is a singular point of access.

Snowden or one of them revealed an NSA operation out of Auckland – I think we’re talking about the Upper Queen Street vicinity as a possibility – but in any event, this blind trust in the State’s/GCSB’s agenda being to ‘PROTECT’ us is both naiive and fucking stupid. (Bruce Fuddy Duddy Fergusson tried his best on Campbell Live tonight and may have suckered in the Jamie Lee-Ross Morning Prayers boys, among others – about as convincing as a 15 bob Pound).

It’s really quite amazing. An acquaintance of mine (ex Internal Affairs, and amazed at the stupidity and level of tiknuckle competency – mainly by recently acquired contractors working 5 hour days and clipping the ticket for 8) recently asked me what I thought a Births, Deaths and Marriages database might contain. I thought BDM. I should have twigged that it also contained the details of EVERY undercover Police officer, Spy, Diplomat and others such as those in witness protection.
Still … nothing to fear, nothing to hide eh?
I was then asked how that was secured. To be brief – not very well!
Hope and Change, High 5, Faith and Charity, Trust Us, we have your best interests at heart (plus are you interested in a 1990 Honda City I got going cheap?)
No fucking wonder an IRD upgrade seems out of reach – Dangerous Enthusiasms. If an Internal Affairs/MoBie, woteva the fuck they call themselves these days is rellant on a cast of thousands of incompetents, things are fucking worse than I first imagined.

    • weka 36.1

“The email is ‘fake’ – as I understand it, on the basis that it doesn’t show an IP address”

Do you have access to the full email data then?

      • Once Was Tim 36.1.1

My point really …. who does have access to it?. Do those claiming it to be fake have access? That opening line in my previous comment is more of a question – I think it was a report on the radio when I first heard the claim that it was fake, and the evidence presented was that it did not contain an IP address.

        • Rich 36.1.1.1

Yes this is the main issue in my view, if it is real then heads need to roll starting at the top of both Warner Bros and the NZ govt.

    • karol 37.1

Although, since then, he’s uncritically reported that Laila Harre says it is authentic.

It is a puzzle though. Because Fisher does say tat he received the email from someone other than KDC yesterday afternoon, confirmed with KDC that it was the evidence he would produce that evening. But then it seems lawyers decided to send the email to the privileges committee.

I’m not convinced about the email’s authenticity, nor am I sure it’s a fake. It’s a bit strange.

      • alwyn 37.1.1

One almost has to feel sorry for Laila.
She really should have read the story of Faust before she took this job.
Imagine having to do everything that KDC orders you to do, even when you know you are simply demonstrating that you have been bought?
Still one can only hope that Laila got a very good price for her soul when she sold it to the rather large German.

        • Rich 37.1.1.1

About 50 million is the going rate for a leader is it not? It’s cheap I guess even if it looks like a huge overpayment for the quality, or more pertantly the lack of it, retained for that price.

Ethics and morals mean that Harre will not be taken for a ride. And she won’t suddenly be buying her first multi-million dollar home either.

        • yeshe 37.1.1.2

you trolling alwyn ? Laila is not, was not, will not be for sale to anyone. Best beware your own Faustian con fusions.,

        • Murray Olsen 37.1.1.3

I’m as sure that Laila hasn’t sold her soul as I am sure you don’t have one.
You’re just jealous of two things:
          1. that Dotcom could pay more than NAct, and
          2. that Laila has the integrity to do things without financial reward.

        • phillip ure 37.1.1.4

you dug deep for that orifice-pluck..eh alwyn..?

..did you have to rinse it off b4 trotting it out..?

          ..did it smell..?

  37. blue leopard 38

I just wish to comment on Mr Key’s language, including body language, where he was refuting the genuineness of that email on the News clips last night.

Key was using a strong style of ‘legally protected’ language. All of his statements contained phrases like ‘I don’t recall’, ‘as far as I remember’, ‘I don’t believe’. This is unconvincing language. It is deceptive language, for example, ‘We have no record of it’ is not the same thing as ‘it doesn’t exist’. ‘We have no record of it’ could simply mean ‘we deleted all trace of it’, yet the wording is designed to leave listeners with quite a different impression.

Key’s body language is also unconvincing. Note the blinking and pursing of lips. I have to say, he has been uncharacteristically poor at feigning sincerity on this one.

Link: TV3’s footage (Key’s footage starts about 1.15 minutes in)

    • Murray Olsen 38.1

The ex-chief squirrel showed symptoms of nervousness and dishonesty in his interview as well. He was blinking furiously and his voice went up an octave or two a couple of times.

  38. ropata 39

    1. The font is Lucida Console. This is the default font used by Windows Notepad.

    2. In Microsoft Outlook you can do a bulk export of all emails in a folder. This produces a (possibly quite large) text file containing all the messages.

    3. Bulk Export would be the most efficient way of storing and parsing a large amount of data, because it strips out html / rtf (formatting info) / images / headers, and just keeps the content.

    4. Without the RFC822 message ID and routing information we can’t *prove* the email is genuine. Equally, we can’t dismiss out of hand either.

    5. WB and JK have every reason to cover up their collusion against KDC. There is some pretty compelling circumstantial evidence.

    • ropata 39.1

Joining the dots… someone with a certain level of access to “metadata” has

      * searched and found an email that WB and JK would prefer not to exist

      * pasted the file (or a portion thereof) to windows notepad

      * leaked the text file or screengrab to KDC.

  39. Big Blue Al 40

As pointed out by David Farrar, this must be the only e-mail in American history where the date structure is “Day/Month/Year”. (The usual set up for UK, Oz and NZ etc). The american system is “Month/Day/Year” i.e. 9/11 does not mean the 9th of November, it means September 11th. It seems the “author” of the e-mail forgot this when making it up !!
