Just watch Question Time today and see the Nats make complete fools of themselves. More questions = looking more foolish. This is the Greens "give them enough rope" strategy :)
Interesting that in the section of Checkpoint this evening when John C was in Ngaruawahia and Horotiu, at least one person he interviewed, whose husband works for Affco at Horotiu, said that the $1000 BE is promising was tempting, though at $20 a week not ...

Talking to my parents (alive during WWII in England) one big difference was how the Govt behaved, particularly because the Govt (1) had huge advertising campaigns about how it was wrong to waste anything, about digging for victory (i.e. grow your own), ...
With rent control....where would those houses no longer up for rental go once they are off the rental market? I presume they'd be sold. What would then happen to the market when they all flooded on? Might that supply-side movement help bring house prices ...
I've just realised....authoritarianism over democracy....and a Peter....are we in the presence of riches? :)
"Choice" is a word that needs unpacking. It was used a lot first in the Thatcher years and was used to promote many things (privatised shares in industry, schools, health care...) because it sounds good to say "you have a choice". But, it needs unpacking ...

Every day in office "Honest" John has been concerned with further enriching the already comfortably off. That’s why he is in politics. He knows that these sort of people just want to hear that "the only way out of poverty is to have a decent well paying ...
OK perhaps we could kick off with a discussion about which of these is not true: Hungry kids up Inequality up Pollution up Debt up Housing costs up Electricity costs up Foreign ownership up Corruption up
So why were multinational corporations "in" on that closed environment then? Governments...yes OK, might make sense. But private business?? Makes your reasoning seem a little disingenuous.
