Henry is an embarrassing idiot.
His role of the overbearing chauvinist, giggling at his own 'jokes' searching for gratuitous and sycophantic acclaim from some unknown persons in the studio is embarrassing .
I object to his his childish behaviour, his mocking bullying and unfair prejudice when discussing anything political.Even my sister who has the opposite political views to me can't bear him.

Among other things I remember being affronted by his mocking and mimicking the speech of a politician who had suffered a stroke and earlier on, a derisory comment about 'chemo- barbie doll.' Surely TV1 can find a presenter of higher calibre than this. His snide remarks on air once people are safely out of the way and can't defend themselves are not very brave..
He treats women like lesser beings, his co- host on the breakfast show responds accordingly as a compliant weak bimbo and he incessantly giggles at his own smut.
Brian Edwards was and is intelligent. Paul Henry is not.

Henry should be replaced by someone who isn't a snide, childish giggling bully, someone who doesn't think its hilariously clever to use the word 'arse'.
.
Better still send him to Fox News so he can indulge his pathetic tabloid self and stop pretending to be a journalist.

Tigger

You don't get it.

The Daily Show is the way people - mostly liberals - like to get their political news in the US, and it is more incisive than anything delivered by, say, TV One News. It simply dispenses with the nonsense idea that news can be objective and unbiased. Does anyone, apart from journalism students, believe that cr@p anymore?

That's the way it is going, whether you like it or not. Compare the news outlets that are thriving and those that are going to the wall. You'll soon spot the pattern.

The news industry is in crisis because most of them don't get it, either. The channel - in every sense of the word - is the important bit, not the story itself. The story itself is near worthless. You can't run a news outlet on the story. You run it on the way it is packaged. And the successful packages are heavily and obviously biased. Balance doesn't sell.

FOX News is financially successful for that reason. They understand what you do not.

Jono,

The media sold out a long time ago. It's been infotainment, biased and masking hidden agendas all along. We know it. They know it. We only let them away with it for so long because there was limited choice of bias to be had.

You might wish otherwise, you might long for a return to a golden age of pure objectivity (did it ever exist?), but the fact is, no one is listening.

The news that succeeds (i.e. is economic to produce) is delivered by biased personalities. The audience wants news (stories) told THEIR way (confirms their bias/entertains). News is commodity, and it is near worthless commodity.

The only way news organisations will survive is by delivering the news wrapped in something else, in this case - entertainment. Same reason Jon Stewart is successful. People will pay for that. They're not paying for "just the news".

That's why news outlets are failing.

Peter, as Jono points out you named a comedian, not to mention a TV presenter and a right-wing pundit. None of these people actually deliver what I would call 'news'. FAIL.

Peter - what a load of bollix. That's the problem with news these days it is attempting to wrap itself around biased personalities, and has been doing so for the past decade. The result is that the only good news shows in Australasia are the one's which haven't gone down that route - ABC and SBS. Really we need news and current affairs that actually delivers information not light entertainment. Also, in case you hadn't noticed Jon Stewart is actually a comedian.

Henry making fun of a woman with a facial hair problem - how original!

If Henry is going to throw mud he'd better get himself to a surgeon first so he can be transformed into a Brad Pitt clone as the Bugs Bunny crossed with a chimpanzee look does absolutely nothing for him; I'd be scared to get near those incisors.

Anyone at close quarters with him would need a dose of cyanide to swallow in case the bag fell off his head.

Oh - come on. Besides edwards being a sad old fart the fact is that we need some opinions being expressed.
TV has become so bland that everyone is going to sleep in front of it.

Henry maybe a bit crass, but hes certainly got your attention. I bet you cant remember hardly anything youve seen on Sunrise....................
