       True. There’s a great irony in the way he’s become a hero of the anti-copyright crowd, who apparently think he’s great for sticking it to all those nasty companies who enrich themselves by exploiting other people’s work.

       But there’s also a bit of poetic justice in the way this is unfolding. Dotcom is only here because assholes like Key and Banks think megarich dudes are so cool that they wrote a special law just so people like Dotcom could come and live here.

     Key might have stitched himself up with his big mouth this time. When he denied having heard Dotcom’s name, he unnecessarily added a little phrase to the end of his sentence which was intended to make his story more credible but actually cut his wiggle room down to nothing.

     I think his words were “unusual as it is” and I think they might come back to haunt him.

   This is just like when Owen Glenn said Peters was full of it… Oh that’s right Labour denigrated him as being old and confused and we moved on … How funny that now it’s really really important that the truth must come out and people must be accountable…. Of course lets not forget that Clark continued to take Peters on his word through all that ….

   Now we need integrity – after lowering the bar so low for your own team – good luck with that !!!

     No Burt your scenario is different and you know it. For things to be the same it would need to be Helen Clarke’s word against Owen Glenns witch it never was. This scenario is John Key saying I didnt know and I wouldnt forget knowing and Dotcom saying he knew and I can prove it.

     That’s all the excuse you need, is it? One thing you got right: Key’s ethics are in the gutter. Oh, and as I recall Owen Glenn wasn’t threatened with extradition to a Hollywood kangeroo court. Nor was he subject to violent arrest, illegal search and seizure, illegal surveillance by spies under the direct control of the Prime Minister, and police perjury.

   dotcom lives in keys electorate and was the richest person in the neighbourhood. he was also known as generous to politicians(john banks, step forward) so, it is stretching credibility that key or his electorate chairman didnt go to the dotcom mansion with their hand out. I wonder if their was a brown envelope with a large cheque involved.

   What will be very interesting will be what Mr Key does about it.
   a. Call in the hit men.
   b. Deny any knowledge.
   c. Say, “Oh that Kim Dotcom. I thought you meant the other one.”
   d. Accuse David Shearer of Dirty Tricks.
   e. Get Minister Parata to answer any questions on his behalf.
   f. Employ a well known Psychiatrist to validate his amnesic problems.
   g. Employ a well known political journalist to throw a paddy in the key defence panel.
   h. Rush through a piece of Legislation that puts a permanent gag on all statements coming from the Dotcom camp.
   i. Deport him under new legislation rushed through under urgency. (Any resident over 120kg banned.)

   You see there are plenty of viable options available to Mr Key.

     He says that part of his defence against extradition is that the NZ Government made political actions to please the USA. Thus involvement if proven could jeopardise the case against him.
     If Mr Dotcom does have this proof, then a PM repeatedly lying to the House would/should become a serious issue. In the meantime Mr Key and his advisers will be very busy covering any gaps in Mr Key’s story. (I feel sure that a strategic decision was made a long time ago to Keep Mr Key’s name well out of involvement.)

         But then his sense of entitlement reminds of teenagers who escalate their behaviour because you “can’t do anything about it” – and their overconfidence means that more often than not they cross the threshold into a world of shit being done about it. 
              
         Whether he reaches that point before 2014 is another matter. At the moment I sadly think there’s only a <5% chance of him getting locked up.

    Maybe Key’s electorate secretary sent Dotcom a “Welcome to NZ, Mr Dotcom” kind of christmas card in December 2010? It may have happend with the intention of attracting a new vote from a new resident in the electorate. Well, would that not be some “proof”?

    But then it is again possible to talk his way out of this, saying he does not know everything his “underlings” do every day.

      What, and he didn’t find out, as soon as this became a story, every single possible contact that might have been made in his name or by his staff?

      Impossible for anyone to believe he didn’t do this. So assuming he did, it’s not going to look good for him if it turns out he there was some contact and he hasn’t mentioned it in all the questioning and interviewing on the subject.

      As Nixon found out, it’s not the act, but the lie that gets you.

          Dotcom does have it a bit easier though. He is only trying to convince us that Key/Banks/Police/GCSB/FBI are behaving dubiously in his case.

          Labour are not only trying to point out the flaws in National but also demonstrate that they would be able to do a substantially better job of government. Pointing out the flaws in National is the easy bit.

      infused: I met the man, he impresses, may be a bit dodgy in some ways, but he has a degree of an IQ that few of your type of understanding folk would even grasp to comprehend.

      He is miles ahead of 99.99 of the population in NZ, that is why he is where he is.

      Having dealt with FBI, GCSB, SIS, NZ Police and so forth, and taken a bloody stand, while accounts are frozen, with little fluid cash, that is not an easy task, even if you used to have powerful and rich mates in various places.

      NZ is a bit below his standard level of operational skills, but as much as he is also vulnerable and likely worked on the borderline of legality, does it not prove that NZ Police and secret services are the most overvalued ones compared on an international level? That may also apply for other areas of activities. Remember the leaky home crisis, asset sell-out, dairy scandal in China, mass exodus of Kiwis to Australia and the list goes on?!

      How do you feel for self confidence with that bit of information?

      Maybe hit the runway also, take off to Northern Queensland and get a job digging coal or uranium, as you may not be able to get a job in the smart tech area?!
