Focusing on the issues that matter?

Everyone’s favourite National Party blogger Cam Slater has posted a sneaky candid shot of Metiria Turei in which he mocks her for gasp wearing a hat. (Donotlink)

This kind of creepy shit isn’t unusual for him but it raises a couple of questions.

If it wasn’t taken by an MP did the speaker allow it or is it in breach of standing orders?

If it was an MP then what are National’s MPs doing taking secret camera shots of opposition MPs and then sending them to Cam Slater?

Is this kind of weird stalking what John Key’s talking about when he says his caucus is “focused on the issues that matter”?

And what the fuck is National’s problem with what Metiria Turei wears?

Read the comments. Not exactly Einsteins over there are they.

My pick is, she had the flu and managed to stagger to the House because her colleagues were either attending functions or on the campaign trail. Cunliffe fought the flu for two weeks before finally giving in and going to bed. I suspect his unfortunate faux-pas at the Women’s Refuge conference (at least how he phrased it) was a consequence of said flu. He didn’t look his normal self.

The photo was taken from the National side of the debating chamber at the back near the main exit/entrance.

    • distribed 1.1

Why is this personality attacking still going on in Parliament?

I have never seen Metiria mock anyone else.

So why are these malicious attacks on parliamentary members still going on when they dont contribute to the benefit of their master, (that being us the taxpayer)

There are to many examples of dead wood policy amongst particularly National ranks and best we move these vicious individuals into early retirement as fast as possible.

National struggles to gain any traction against the Greens – they simply don’t have the intellectual firepower.

This was grasping at straws even for Slater.

    • David H 2.1

Looks like they will try anything to stop the bad press.

    • Chooky 2.2

+100 “National struggles to gain any traction against the Greens – they simply don’t have the intellectual firepower”

  3. felix 3

What is their complaint exactly? I read Cameron’s (probably Jason’s) post and all it said was she looks like a hobo (??).

Then I read the comments and they all seemed to be struggling a bit too.

Are hats not allowed in the house or something?

  4. mickysavage 4

Creepy. Using the Parliamentary seating plan I would hazard a guess and say it was Jonathan Coleman but it is the creepy sort of thing that Jami Lee Ross would do.

Good to see Slater concentrate on the things that matter.

    He is such a Ned.

    • The Al1en 4.1

Like cluedo, it’s Collins on the sly when she got up to go for a piss, using the ipad (it looks like she’s fiddling with in Blue’s vid posted below).

Data from the timestamp, it’s definitely from the area where coleman sits. A sneaky shot on the walk out I reckon.

  5. Mingoi 5

By that angle, it looks exactly where Judith Collins sits… someone else COULD have moved seats to get a great angle. Or Judith simply has had another go at Metiria (she has form) and sent it to her buddy…

  6. Populuxe1 6

So from this I assume the posters of the Standard will cease all mockery, satire, and request for picture captions as we appear to have been raised to a whole new level of ethical behaviour?

    • Anne 6.1

      Nope.

    • This isn’t satire or a caption competition, and mocking someone when they’re doing a patently fake photo op is very differently to this kind of nasty, personal, “lol you look dumb” attack.

This year the Speaker’s already gone to the privileges committee to look at MPs’ use of Twitter in the House, and whether it’s appropriate. I can’t see him taking a positive view of an MP photographing another in order to leak their picture to a blog for the purpose of a cheap attack.

      • Clemgeopin 6.2.1

Carter if he has an integrity can easily watch the security footage and expose which person has breached the parliament rules in order to put an MP into some kind of perceived ‘shame’ in the media.

Question is, is Carter a straight up unbiased speaker who will view this seriously or not?

    • mickysavage 6.3

Posters on TS are not the Labour Party and it goes to show how extremely silly your comment is and how the right do not care about what they say but say it in the hope that they will hurt the left.

The day that Cameron Slater stops posting incessant personal attacks on people on the left is the day that he and his ilk can start to complain about ethical standards.

The picture is not funny, there is no political angle to it, there is a strong sense that a National MP took a photo and handed it onto Slater. Turei is being mocked because of some people’s perception of her looks, not because of her politics.

      • Populuxe1 6.3.1

At no point did I suggest the posters on TS are the Labour Party – please don’t put words in my mouth. I can’t even imagine why that would be relevant anyway (although it might be a bit disingenious to suggest that you aren’t, what with the name, the Labour avatar picture, the endless breathless hagiographies of Cunlips etc)
The picture is funny. It’s a funny hat. We are allowed to laugh at politicians who are ostensibly “our team”, but that is beside the point.
I have no problem at all with mocking National and ACT – they heartily deserve it, but criticising anyone else for doing the same thing being done to left wing politcians is entirely hypocritical and pontless.
All being shrill about it does is draw attention to it, gives FailOil attention, and generally furthers the impression among the swing voters of middle New Zealand taht the left are a bunch of thin skinned whingers who take themselves too seriously.

        • felix 6.3.1.1

“The picture is funny. It’s a funny hat.”

It is truly lost on me. I just see a woman with a hat. And a scarf. Is it a funny scarf too?

Please Pop, I’m genuinely curious. Hand on heart. What’s funny about the hat?

          • framu 6.3.1.1.1

is it that its on her head?

im confused there aswell – “woolen hat, and in winter too! ahh ha ha ha!”

      • srylands 6.3.2

I think she deserves to be mocked for her politics, her looks, and her carbon footprint. However, on this occasion she is being mocked simply because she is plainly not in compliance with the dress code that all members of Parliament are required to meet.

        • You think she “deserves to be mocked for her looks” and that’s why your opinion is irrelevant.

          • quartz 6.3.2.1.1

I wouldn’t engage with this one if I were you. He’s fucking creepy.

            • Tracey 6.3.2.1.1.1

yup, he is best ignored. In fact a day ignoring a bunch of them would make for interesting observation.

        • framu 6.3.2.2

“I think she deserves to be mocked for … her looks”

wow – talk about playing the ball

get back in your hole you sad little aresehole

          • Clemgeopin 6.3.2.2.1

Can this idiot srylands enter his own arsehole?..Uum, May be he can, as he seems like crap with his very nasty comment against Metiria.

        • Minarch 6.3.2.3

He just knows she would shoot him down if he tried it on….

im surprised he didnt call her a lesbian as well…

        • Rodel 6.3.2.4

          Sry
I think Paula Bennett and Judith Collins and Anne Tolley deserve to be mocked for their politics, their looks, and their carbon footprints. However, on this occasion they are being mocked simply because they are plainly not in compliance with the ethical code that all members of Parliament are required to meet.
Ho hum Same old meaninglesnness. ( Is that a word?)

    • Tracey 6.4

I don’t recall being elected to parliament or having been made PM and promising high standards of behaviour. Will my missing pay be backdated?

  7. tinfoilhat 7

Why bother giving Slater any oxygen, he just thrives on the attention.

  8. wonderpup 8

Completely tangentially, a few weeks back I was looking at material about NZ’s first woman MP, Elizabeth McCombs (Lyttelton, 1933) and saw that hats played a large part of the media about her. Plus ca change, huh?

  9. Saarbo 9

She looks cool… only right wing narrow minded sad little hillbillies would suggest there was something wrong with her attire….

    • srylands 9.1

I think the point that Whale Oil Beef Hooked (WOBH) is making is that the memeber is not complying with the dress code that applies to members. This states clearly:

“The Speaker is expected to take issue with any member who is not dressed in appropriate business attire”

      http://www.parliament.nz/en-nz/about-parliament/how-parliament-works/ppnz/00HOOOCPPNZ_111/chapter-11-the-chamber-buildings-and-grounds#_Toc268510993

It is quite clear from the photo that the member is not dressed in appropriate business attire. As such, she should not have been in the debating chamber.

      • Suddenly it’s all clear! Cameron Slater is just writing in a language very similar to English, in which “looks like a hobo” actually means “is possibly in violation of standing orders.” 🙄

        • quartz 9.1.1.1

According to srylands she was asking for it.

        • karol 9.1.1.2

So, first Turei gets attacked because she advocates for those in poverty, while wearing posh clothes. Now she gets attacked for dressing like someone in poverty…….?

These righties can’t seem to make a consistent attack line.

          • Tracey 9.1.1.2.1

One thing is pretty clear about the right and its supporters. When it comes to behaviour you cannot accuse them of consistency. Sadly the ones with children think the children will be doing what they say not what they see their parents doing, and hey presto another generation of money obsessed, insensitive NZers to join the right wing parties

          • McFlock 9.1.1.2.2

            good point

      • wtl 9.1.2

It is quite clear from the photo that the member is not dressed in appropriate business attire. As such, she should not have been in the debating chamber.

If that was the case, then the appropriate course of action is for a member to raise the issue with the Speaker within the house, not take a photograph and send it to a blogsite. Idiot.

      • Macro 9.1.3

So the Nat’s who dressed up last night were “appropriately dressed”

      • The Al1en 9.1.4

“It is quite clear from the photo that the member is not dressed in appropriate business attire. As such, she should not have been in the debating chamber.”

        http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/10330174/Colleagues-tie-one-on-for-Ryalls-farewell

“junior whip Tim MacIndoe, who affected giant polka dots on clashing checks, and an orange plastic gerbera buttonhole. Energy Minister Simon Bridges ran him close with his tribute of a pink retro floral wallpaper number, strobing from a sinister dark shirt.”

Did sicknote run anything on those knobbers? No, thought not.
Just another rwnj wankstain on the duvet cover of life.

      • Rodel 9.1.5

Sad but it took Hoskings and co. to tell NZ viewers of TV1 that ‘Whale Oil-Beef Hooked’ is actually a “clever” (not) play on words for “Well I’ll be f*cked!” -The intellect and humour necessary to appreciate the sophistication of this title was beyond me.

I guess many of us just don’t think the same way as wotsisname.

But I wonder if his good mate John Key is aware of wotsisname’s clever little joke. Some journalist should ask him.

    • adam 9.2

As white trash I’m offended by your comments Saarbo. She looks good and fine to this old boy.

please note – tongue firmly in cheek

    • srylands 9.3

Her “attire” is not in compliance with Standing Orders.

      • Murray Olsen 9.3.1

So fucking what? Your party’s ex-MP is a fraudster. I think that’s a bit more important.

In any case, who can say that a woollen hat isn’t “business attire”, whatever that is. There should be more standing orders about their behaviour and how they ask questions, but not what they have on their heads, you blithering idiot.

      • felix 9.3.2

Absolute bullshit. If any MP or the Speaker thought her attire was inappropriate they would have raised the matter at the time.

That’s the standard practice. I’ve seen it happen before when Clare Curran wore a rugby supporter’s jersey.

What I saw at Cameron’s (Jason’s) site was that the photo was posted without any explanation, and the commenters struggled to find the relevance.

Of course no-one wants to admit that they don’t get it, so half of them are outraged without saying about what, and half of them think it’s hilarious but can’t say why.

You guys need to get your story straight before you do weird stuff like this.

      • framu 9.3.3

your existance isnt in compliance with humanity

  10. reason 10

creepy stalker photo from a national party mp sent to a sick and nasty man.

what next ? …………. shoe camera shots up the skirt from the sultan of sleaze ?

    couldn’t get close enough probably.

    • srylands 10.1

“a sick and nasty man” Seriously? The guy runs an award winning media outlet. It is the most popular blog in the country. Get some perspective.

edit: As a financial supporter of Whale Oil Beef Hooked (WOBH) I assure you I would not support it if the blog was run by a sick nasty man.

      • quartz 10.1.1

You spend money to support a pro-rape site? You’re a disgrace.

        • McFlock 10.1.1.1

the fuckwit is a bit like a shit onion – as each layer is revealed, it turns out to be even more noxious and stinky than the one that preceeded it.

      • wtl 10.1.2

edit: As a financial supporter of Whale Oil Beef Hooked (WOBH) I assure you I would not support it if the blog was run by a sick nasty man.

So says a sick nasty man*.

        * e.g. comment 6.3.2 saying that Turei “deserves to be mocked… for her looks”

      • Macro 10.1.3

“The guy runs an award winning media outlet.”

        LOL

        Yeah right! Next Tui add.

Just how CREDIBLE is that “award”.

        • Hayden 10.1.3.1

Come on now, it takes a lot of work to get a story from Luigi Wewege and post it on your blog. Top-quality investigative journalism!

      • framu 10.1.4

” I assure you I would not support it if the blog was run by a sick nasty man.”

so your cool with photoshopping 14 year olds onto gay porn and exposing victims of doemstic violence?

and yes – i expect an answer to that

im not surprised – but you need go away and do some thinking about what it means to be a good decent person

Are you saying you don’t accept Sry’s assurance about not giving money to a sick nasty man? Shame on you.

child porn sites are very popular too

  11. john 11

So everyone commenting here, about other comments, about the blog post, that’s written about another blog post, that’s about an irrelevant hat, are all “Focusing on the issues that matter” ????????

    • infused 11.1

      Welcome to The Standard.

      “Blog Posts That Matter”

[lprent: You knkw that it is inadvisable to question why we run this site the way we want to. Have you decided to get banned? ]

    • lprent 11.2

Actually yes. People trying to and often managing to frame the debate on to trivia are dangerous. A good example was Brash in 2005 who tried to mask his agenda under the irrelevancies of unaffordable taxcuts and racial bigotry. He was politically inept, so managed to activate voters of the sort that wouldn’t vote for him.

However john key and his team manager to do exactly the same a few years later using sock puppets paid indirectly like Cam Slater, David Farrar, and their access to media to create silly irrelevant memes.

This site was set up by people concerned with that trend and in part exists to combat that trivialization.

Read the policy about trying to tell us how to run our site. If you want to get the boot from here, carry on doing it.

    • distribed 11.3

If this “john” is John Key,

We ask why you John Key as Prime minister of N.Z. has never replied to C.E.A.C. our NGO’s 54 emails sent you a your Parliamentary address over the last four years?

We have requested to meet with you on numerous occasions and even when you visited Napier & Gisborne but failed the request made to you to set a short time to meet community members to discuss our focus on issues that matter to our communities, and you still never ever had the decency to have addressed our community requests to discuss or meet you for “Focusing on the issues that matter” ????????

This is your last chance to respond to our request made 54 times to finally discuss with the Napier Gisborne community Groups our focussing on the issues that matter???????

    • Tracey 11.4

You’re back John. Have you considered sacking Gerry Johnathan and Nick yet? Is that what you were doing yesterday? Chatting with Mark and reading polls to make up your mind for you?

  12. Tanz 12

Cam Slater is as left as they come. He loathes the Conservatives just like the left do. His is a left voice, even if he operates under a blue flag. I don’t believe that his blog is as popular as he makes out.

    • felix 12.1

He hates unions too. Hated them since he was 15! So now he’s a right wing voice, eh?

His hatefulness is more of a defining quality than his position on the political spectrum will ever be.

    • Tracey 12.2

could you tell me what Left policies he stands for and advocates on his site?

  13. NZJester 13

Mocking her for looking homeless is a big stretch considering she looks well presented in the picture.
Some of the photos I have seen of badly shaved Cameron Slater however do at times make him look like a homeless drunk.

    • felix 13.1

Yeah he’s hardly in a position to mock anyone’s appearance. He’s always been especially keen on ridiculing people for being fat.

Sometimes it’s almost as if it isn’t really him writing at all…

      • Tracey 13.1.1

late night and an early morning here Felix seems to have lighted your fire… Great responses man

  14. Macro 14

” He’s always been especially keen on ridiculing people for being fat.”

    Really! – How ironic! 🙂

  15. Hayden 16

I saw this just now and was reminded of this thread:

This is a guy who just wants to be dealt in at the table. He knows that he can’t win, he can’t hang, but he wants to just be included. He wants to be at the cool kids’ table. He is the same jib cut as many who toil at the Justification Machine. You see this with folks like Dean Chambers–who, oddly enough, I went to school with. These are thwarted humans, who just want to be liked, and since they’re fairly unskilled socially, they figure if they just keep showing up with gifts, that they’ll be allowed to stick around. Yes, it’s an immature and undeveloped impulse, but that’s who they are. And they’re useful, in that they toil without a lot of compensation, and they’ll get invited to a few parties, where folks will pat them on the head for a moment, and then turn back to their real friends, but for a moment, they’re included. That so many of these poor souls are chunky…that’s not coincidence. They ARE fat kids who want to be at the cool kids’ table, they want to be with the cheerleaders, and the football players, and they bring cake and candy and a camera, and take their moments where they can. And they keep doing it for the rest of their damn lives, because they’re damaged individuals who can’t grow the f*ck up.

The ones that do grow up? They don’t court favor. They don’t curry favor. They get on with their lives, and this poor soul is just an example of a cog in a machine that eats up toadying fat kids like said candy, and they like it. Because they get a tiny kernel of validation for a moment, and then they have to chase their next high. They are power junkies, and despite the fact that they will never hold any themselves, they just want to be near it. That’s enough. Because there are damaged girls somewhere near all that mess, and those girls are looking for validation too, and sometimes they get together and make more damaged humans. And thus the cycle continues…

    Source: http://www.fark.com/comments/8355491/92166384#c92166384

    • Tracey 16.1

Interesting observation… especially as he seems to get tot he big table only because they use him to do their dirty work… it’s his distance and blog… not him.

  16. Lucy 17

Would have thought taking photo on debating floor was not allowed and which ever MP did it and sent it could be censured. But it is not really a bigger think Greens have more things on their minds like election cycle. Use to check out WOBH a bit but do not go so much as his sources no longer go to him as first point. Think they got shafted by the glory hound once to often – and the mess he made of Len Brown after math proved once and for all that he could not be trusted to report news as he tried to create and then manipulate the outcome. So he now follows and comments

  17. Puckish Rogue 18

Is this kind of weird stalking what John Key’s talking about when he says his caucus is “focused on the issues that matter”?

    • Last time I checked Cam Slater isn’t an MP though with Nationals popularity he could get in on the list except he hates list MPs with a passion

And what the fuck is National’s problem with what Metiria Turei wears?

    • Suggesting Cam Slater speaks for the National is like suggesting The Standard speaks for the Labour party
    • framu 18.1

for that to work you have to ignore the fact that cam has a history of doing national and keys dirty work

you also have to ignore just how cam got the photo in the first place

basically your whole argument falls over at the first logic test

      • Puckish Rogue 18.1.1

Well no because there are posters here that do work for the Labour party so if its good for goose etc also people on both sides of the house send him things through his tip line

        • framu 18.1.1.1

making comments that support a party is utterly different from being a paid up member of a dirty tricks smear machine

organised smears and propaganda machine vs connected supporters who happen to say things online

if you want to make the argument that posters at the standard are on the same level as cam slater your welcome – but it wont really get that far because its not even remotely true

      • Bob 18.1.2

And you ignore the fact LPrent and Mickeysavage has a history of doing Labours dirty work, what’s your point? They, like Cam Slater don’t have to stick to the party line as they are not representitives of, or MP’s in the party, so PR’s points still stand.

Why don’t you attack Zetetic for not being “focused on the issues that matter”?

        • framu 18.1.2.1

          “so PR’s points still stand.”

no it doesnt because – you also have to ignore just how cam got the photo in the first place

        • Tracey 18.1.2.2

          Do they? Examples please

      • framu 18.1.3

        look bob and PR

who in the blogosphere is widely known for being in paid employment by the nats for the purpose of running smear campaigns against their opponents?

Who in the blogosphere has an extremely cosy relationship with the PM and chats to him on a regular basis

Who in the blogosphere is also connected to, jason ede, simon lusk and jordan williams – known shit stirrers and trouble makers connected to the national party?

who on this site has posted illicitly obtained photos from inside the debating chamber?

and the biggest point your both ignoring – you also have to ignore just how cam got the photo in the first place! – thats one of the central points of the post!

your sense of equivilance is broken

        • Bob 18.1.3.1

Framu – Who in the blogoshpere is widely known for setting up a secret trust for David Cunliffe’s anonymous donations?

Who in the blogosphere is widely known for having an extremely cosy relationship with David Cunliffe?

How do you know the photo was obtained “illicitly”? Do you know the Speaker didn’t allow it? And you have no issue with the beanie being worn illicitly?

The title of the post is “Focusing on the issues that matter?”, I didn’t realise how a photo ended up in a bloggers hands was one of the issues that matter! Good to see all of the other major issues in this country have now been cleared up, thanks Framu

Your sense of equivilance is equally broken

          • framu 18.1.3.1.1

Who in the blogoshpere is widely known for setting up a secret trust for David Cunliffe’s anonymous donations?

            • not the same thing

Who in the blogosphere is widely known for having an extremely cosy relationship with David Cunliffe?

            • as ive already pointed out its not the same thing -its not on the same level as slater and you know this – thats the point there

How do you know the photo was obtained “illicitly”? Do you know the Speaker didn’t allow it? And you have no issue with the beanie being worn illicitly?

            • was the house in session? – did the hat come off when it was? if the speaker allowed it why? considering that the correct thing to do is raise it in the house what is the speaker doing allowing cam to run it in public. Theres are rules about media taking photos and footage of MPs isnt there wonder boy

The title of the post is “Focusing on the issues that matter?”

wow you can read, get a gold star – thats the point – this is an issue that doesnt matter yet little smear merchants like cam think it is and you seem to support it – its a woolen hat – get over it – stop defending the actions of a rogue agent who runs the nats dirty tricks and photoshops kids onto gay porn for kicks.

and frankly – im not the labour party and can talk about whatever i damn well choose. My sense of equivalence is fine – its you who cant tell the difference between people saying things in public and an organised smear machine, which is kinda sad

    • Tracey 18.2

You seem to know who took the photo, can you post your proof?

      • Puckish Rogue 18.2.1

I’ll offer as much proof as others on here have, here we go:

        did you get it?

  18. Tom 19

No the smartest bunch. They uploaded the original photo, so all the extended metadata that is embedded in the photo is still present.
If you save the photo and look at the file properties in Windows (or use an online EXIF metadata reader – like, for example the first one that comes up in google: http://metapicz.com/ )

You can see it was taken on 2014:07:29 at 21:40:15 (assume thats NZDT?)
On a iPhone 5 using the rear camera.
    (note that’s a iPhone 5 not a 5s)
    Should narrow it down?

    • Tracey 19.1

hmmm whose lap would Slater have been in?

      • srylands 19.1.1

That is pretty rude. As far as I know Cameron Slater is an outstanding guy with high moral standards and a loving family. What on earth makes you think you are justified in such smarmy slanderous comments?

Sadly, Green Taliban supporters seem to be over-represented in general rudeness and nastiness.

        • Chooky 19.1.1.1

@ srylands…lol…”Cameron Slater is an outstanding guy with high moral standards”…similar to yours i take it ? …and do you have the same dress sense?

        • framu 19.1.1.2

aww boo ho – cry me a river

you still havent figured out that photoshopping 14 year olds onto gay porn, exposing victims of domestic violence, making light of rape etc etc doesnt actually represent high moral standards have you?

You are one of the most insulting people ive ever come across – and you hide it behind such mendacious semantics too. At least most humans have the good graces to be upfront when they are being rude.

          • vto 19.1.1.2.1

            I agree framu.

It is srylands and his thinking which is rude. His type of thinking and the resultant policies which lead to 29 dead men at Pike River, leave the poor of East Chch to suffer under the greed of the ‘free market’ while the rich CBD property owners get state support, pull the remaining stability from the children of East Chch by stomping on their schools, allowing business people to pollute rivers to an extent that we cannot drink from it or swim in it and kills all the life in it, is rude.

It is all of that which is truly rude. Rude in the extreme. That srylands cries when he gets called a tosser or wanker is laughable and further evidences his lack of grasp on reality.

People who advocate for those types of policies above deserve nothing but rudeness.

What do they think this is? Some sort of school debating chamber where we will all smile and shake hands at the end of the day? I don’t think so. This is not tiddly winks, as Tana Umaga famously put it. Wake the fuck up.

And as for Slater – the fat slug can suck it up. He laughed for joy when a west coaster died in a car crash claiming the world was better off with one less bogan. Slater is a cunt.

            • srylands 19.1.1.2.1.1

VTO – politeness goes a long way in all aspects of life. It is simply unacceptable in any business to call people tossers and wankers. People who behave like that generally end up either unemployed or in prison, or on minimum wage jobs.

If you focus on the issues that matter, and do so politely you will be influential. You might even get a job paying more than $50 an hour. If you spit bile and swear, call people “fat slugs” and come across as a 1950s socialist, you will be ignored.

              Just some free advice.

              • vto

                fuck off arsehole

did you just miss all the true rudeness outlined which spills from the attitudes of people like you and the fat slug slater?

                wanker

              • vto

and you consider this polite …

29 dead men at Pike River, leave the poor of East Chch to suffer under the greed of the ‘free market’ while the rich CBD property owners get state support, pull the remaining stability from the children of East Chch by stomping on their schools, allowing business people to pollute rivers to an extent that we cannot drink from it or swim in it and kills all the life in it

                rude arsehole

              • McFlock

Oh, you’re pretending once again that your delicate lips are unsullied by expletives, are you?

Rich people swear, too. Hell, my previous boss was known to drop the F-bomb, and she was on good coin.

But she wasn’t a fuckwit. Regardless of whether you use obscenities or not, you’re still a poor excuse for humanity.

              • Chooky

                @ srylands

…toxicity, racism , misogyny dressed up in the guise of “politeness” is still toxicity , racism and misogyny….dont kid yourself !

…and the answer to such toxicity, racism and misogyny is not politeness…it needs to be called out honestly for what it is

…even if that involves rudeness to you ……so good on VTO for his honesty!

              • Minarch

                because it isnt worth shit….

Interesting. That time stamp puts it in the third reading of the Veteran’s Support Bill, somewhere around the end of Phil Goff/beginning of Melissa Lee.

So instead of focusing on Veteran’s Support, National MPs were focused on Metiria Turei’s hat.

This video from IntheHouse at 2.01 shows the people who were on the National side around the time the photo was taken.

      http://www.inthehouse.co.nz/video/34265

      • The Al1en 19.2.1

6.16 and 7.33 give telling shots.

        Edit: Goldsmith?

Second edit: I’d put money on Collins. If I were in the house with parliamentary privilege I’d out her.

      • felix 19.2.2

Who are the two douches behind Collins, at about the direction and height the pic looks like it was taken from, who appear to be looking at something on a phone?

        1 min 59 sec.

  19. Probably just an ordered by the party attempt by sicknote slater to drag the green party into complaining about national, rather than continuing to focus on their successful positive campaign style, as they look solid, united and formidable.

Having said that, taking sneak photographs of mps in the chamber, without permission or prior knowledge, and then releasing them to supportive blogs must breach parliamentary rules.
An impartial and honest speaker would be organising an investigation as we type.

  20. fambo 21

A huge amount of body heat is lost from the top of the head. Therefore in winter hats are really useful for staying healthy and fighting sickness when you are not well as they conserve that energy which is then used by the body to fight the illness.

It’s good to see more people in Wellington wearing hats in winter which is very simple and people are discovering that hats actually add character and can make a person look really good.

In summer, of course, they are becoming almost vital for shade as we are still suffering from the depletion of the ozone layer even though a global agreement ceased the use of CFCs and other ozone destroying gases in the 1990s (i think). There is still enough of these gases in the atmosphere for the effects to continue for a few more decades yet.

  21. reason 22

slater is one seriously sick and nasty national party attack dog.

And sure we can feel sorry for vicious attack dogs as I do, because they are after all fucked in the head in a very angry and unhappy way.

They usually end up biting the wrong person and getting destroyed.

Compared to mocking dead teenagers or children with unusual names slaters latest disturbed post on his online sewer is about in the middle of his nasty shit spectrum.

The real question for me is who is the national mp and natural stalker who took the cheap shot/photo ?.

Judith Collins ?, Jami Lee Ross ?

Who is the sleaze in the chamber ?

So many to choose from in the nats ……………..

    • Puckish Rogue 22.1

Why assume its from the right? Theres a few on the left that would benefit from the Greens getting less of the lefts votes…

      • felix 22.1.1

“Why assume its from the right?”

Um, have you seen the photo? It was taken from the right.

  22. Delia 23

Can Slater talk with his grease stained T Shirts, seriously?

  23. Roy 24

Sorry, what’s wrong with the hat? She’s even wearing a matching scarf.

  24. disturbed 25

Well that string was a replica of Nat’s behaviour in debate & question and answer. All those National zealot’s did was bait the whole discussion with corrosive snide remarks and provocation which turns any intelligent debate into a slinging match, exactly what the Nat’s did all through the parliamentary term.

They have such a lack of respect for others opinions they tend to force their own agenda on others without any regard for other folks ideas.

They are fools and destructive to our beautiful land and lives and must go this year or we are in real trouble.

“There are none so deaf as those who will not listen” and they should serve the country with care to work together for the good of all not just their own agendas.
“More heads are better than one” is not in the minds of all those National bunch in and out of parliament.
All the last phrases indicated we are stronger working together but the Nat’s don’t want a bar of it.
They wont work with local Gov’t
    Or communities either.
So this is why they will fail the test in this election as they are arrogant and repressive by nature and all can now see it clearly now and are walking away from arrogance and joining the kinder gentler side this year. They have woken up.
