The Greens have collected 100,000 signatures for the Keep Our Assets Coalition petition to force a referendum on asset sales – in fact, my Asset Keeper email says they were up another thousand at the end of Friday. The Coalition’s total is rapidly approaching 200,000. That’s after just 3 months. Another 150,000 or so to go – with margin for invalid signatures. Play your part.

  1. Murray Olsen 1

    Is anyone collecting in Brisbane?

  2. alex 2

Not too much longer to go now, so if all the other groups have a big month of collecting in August we will get there. Rest assured though the Greens won’t be stopping just because their target has been reached.

  3. TightyRighty 3

150k is all you manage to get on an issue apparently all new zealanders are negative
On, if we believe your propaganda? Weak. So very weak.

    • jpwood 3.1

A big fat zero for the trolling attempt and for reading comprehension.

    • Kotahi Tāne Huna 3.2

You just keep on telling yourself that.

    • felix 3.3

So Tighty, how many have you collected against?

    • Eddie 3.4

Um. 200,000 have signed it. Not 150,000. And it will hit 350,000 within months.

And that’s 2,000 per day. That’s the most rapidly collected CIR petition in history, so far.

Just because people haven’t signed it yet, doesn’t mean they don’t ant to. See the first comment.

      • TightyRighty 3.4.1

Actually, as James pointed out in the post, allowing for dud signatures it’s only 150k.

Just because people haven’t signed doesn’t mean that they want to. It’s still less than 5% of the eligible voter base, which hardly makes it the touchstone issue you presume it to be.

        • Te Reo Putake 3.4.1.1

Your maths sucks, TR. The intention is to get to 350k to allow for the possibility of 50k failed signatures. That’s not 50k off the current number collected, but off the eventual total number collected.

The most common problem is non registration or using an address that isn’t the voter’s registered address.

          • TightyRighty 3.4.1.1.1

Your math and comprehension skills suck far worse than mine. Rapidly approaching 200k is not 200k. Therefore, your argument is invalid

            • Te Reo Putake 3.4.1.1.1.1

Nah, you’re still not making any sense. So, no change there, then.

              • TightyRighty

You get lawyered and I’m the one not making sense? You’ve perpetually got the weakest arguments and retorts. If hate to have to witness you get in an argument in real life

                • mike e

TRP It seems like we have tag team trolling BS to try and wear this site down

                  • TighyRighty

Every time you cry about trolling, it’s someone who disagrees with you and has a better argument. I’m not trying to flame, I’m just pointing out how weak this petition is, despite the optimistic outlook of James and Clayton

  4. Are the greens explaining to the fools who think their signature is going to do something, that in truth to maintain the ponzi based savings scam they are promoting we MUST have growth, and at the moment the only game in town is selling everything and anything to maintain this system?
But no, the greeds will not mention the truth, as this goes against their philosophy of maintaining the statuesque and the bullshit so called democratic system, along with their continued silence about the fiat banking system that has sold your children into a life time of debt. (fortunately for the kids, it will be a short life)
Bring back treason and hang all the lying bastards.
    .
    .
    .
    .

    It is all bullshit

    • Colonial Viper 4.1

Bring back treason and hang all the lying bastards.

no need to bother with the hassle, nature is going to do the same job for you.

    • weka 4.2

On the otherhand, the Greens could tell the truth for the next two years, lose most/all their MPs at the next election, which would leave our country in the hands of who exactly?

I am curious though Robert, do you think that the Greens telling the truth would make much difference to our future?

      • Robert Atack 4.2.1

        >Do you think that the Greens telling the truth would make much difference to our future?<

Not at all, we are now locked in to whatever Mother Earth (our only) is going to chuck at us .. IE 97% of Greenland starting to melt last week, drought in the USA, just to mention a few little events.

It just sucks that they get away with the bullshit gravy train they are all on, but then as I know it is the apathetic public that vote in lyres, garbage in garbage out, politicians whether red, blue, black, or green are all just a produce of this fucked up society/culture.

But for the oxymoron of the greens promoting an environment killing savings scam, just takes the cake. I like to let them all know at least one person in the apathetic masses sees through their bullshit.

But nice to see you are admitting the greens are not telling the truth … maybe there is some hope for you 😉

    • Billy Roy 4.3

What is your argument Tighty? What is your reason for thinking it’s good to sell these assets?

    • Billy Roy 4.4

And what kind of attitude is that Robert? The WHOLE world is fucked because of multi-national corporations and countries all over the planet are suffering. We aren’t the only ones. Why would we want to sell assets which will only cost us more in the long run?

  5. Jane 5

I’ve been busy and sign it every opportunity I can, there are loads of places it’s available.

    Jane

  6. The signatures have to verified once the total has been collected.
I have heard that M. Mouse and D. Duck have appeared a number of times in the Cuba Stret area collection as people find it easier to sign rather than be regularly hassled to and from work, which some of the collectors have been doing.

    • Colonial Viper 6.1

And a few young National supporters have been abusive to Asset Sales petition volunteers, volunteers who are generously giving their time and effort to this.

      • Jim Nald 6.1.1

How about, with the phone camera, snap some pics of those abusive natz and post them online?

    • Georgecom 6.2

which has little bearing on the integrity of the petition fortran. 250,000 signatures might have to be collected to be certain of the result. I hope however that Key is ready to put this matter to the public vote, because he will have to.

  7. Hayden 7

Really? It’s easier to stop and fill in the form with false details than say “No, thanks” or “Already signed it”?

    I smell bullshit.

    • bad12 7.1

Pull your head out of your arse-hole then…

      • Hayden 7.1.1

That was supposed to be in reply to Fortran, guess I’ll be avoiding the mobile theme when commenting from now on.

  8. Anne 8

I think bad12 may have been replying to Fortran too Hayden. This reply function can throw the comments out of sequence. Well sort of… in case lPrent is around. 🙂

  9. Tutake 9

I wonder if it’s now okay for National to spend taxpayers money on any issue they feel like when they are in opposition again? Like the Greens?

    • felix 9.1

You mean spend their leader’s budget? What on earth makes you think National isn’t spending their leader’s budget now?

      What a strange comment.

    • Murray Olsen 9.2

Why don’t you ask National? The people here aren’t likely to have inside information on the issue.
