iPredict needs “Next National Minister Resignation”

They have “will a Minister depart in 2014” and they have Judith to depart before the election, but she seems to have some competition.

Simon Bridges seems to be this week’s minister to make a play, with just plain incompetence.

Hekia is loving having 2 other ministers on the scandal page above her – as she continues steam-rolling closing Christchurch school.

Amy Adams still has some conflicts of interest to clean up.

This is a cabinet in crisis.

You’d need an “Other Minister” category, as who knows which other scandals are lurking, or whether Bennett’s Beneficiary Bashing finally goes too far, or maybe it will just become too clear that “Mr Fixit” doesn’t actually fix anything (certainly not Novopay).

[Still at least Treasury are trying to help – their over-estimating tax-take by $1billion won’t affect next year’s predictions and hence affect Bill’s desperate government surplus (shame about the $50 billion you’ve already borrowed Bill). They’ll just go on blithely predicting better results than National achieve, just like they continually predicted worse results than Labour achieved…]

Tolley may need to go if the roastbuster inquiry doesn’t bust any roaches.

  2. Chooky 2

imo Cunliffe should have a 1, 2, 3 punch out every week…a media invite/shout at a set time and a set place …short and a sweet …maybe a pub…and hit John Keys NACT party with these things mentioned by Bunji above

….time for Labour to get more aggressive and go into attack mode

…after this everyone could retire for a drink…and further strategising

    • Naturesong 2.1

      +1

Press conference at the start of every week to set the agenda and frame the conversation for the rest of the week. Or at least until some other example of Ministerial incompetence floats to the surface during the week.

      • Tc 2.1.1

Worthy idea if nothing to gauge the nature of the MSM playing field to assist strategy and execution issues.

    • Mary 2.2

Labour should do lots of things but they’ll continue to do nothing except compete with National for the so-called middle ground and get nowhere because they’re useless. We have a right-wing left-wing in New Zealand. Charming, isn’t it?

    • I agree chooky and Tory lot are up to their necks in sleaze and scandal.
The problem is the media does not give Labour a chance to bring it to the attention of the public ,If Cuncliffe makes one mistake its headline news yet Key lies and the press just ignores It, It beats me ,This present lot must be the most corrupt lot ever yet the press and news media praise their every move.

  3. Tautoko Viper 3

“Mr Fixit” has no intention of fixing Novopay for teachers. He is trying to make the situation so intolerable in order to create a crisis point at which he will bring out Bulk Funding as the solution.

    • ianmac 3.1

Agreed Tautoko. They may not have wanted Novapay to fail but since it has, then Mr Fixit will turn on the smugness and blame the teachers and present Bulk Funding as the answer. Or tie it to Performance Pay.

      • Tc 3.1.1

Which the MSM muppets would let him get away with.

FFS it’s a cocked up payroll system that’s still broken, Joyce should be in the gun now after stepping forward to fixit and failing.

        • Lanthanide 3.1.1.1

It was pretty clear early on that it was fundamentally and structurally not up to the task, and only a complete re-design would make it so.

Should have gone back to datacom when they had the option.

          • Fluffy Bunny 3.1.1.1.1

It is a shame that the Novapay contract was signed up under Labour. If National had canned it when they first got in, Labour would have complained about the cancelling of their contract. Instead, National had to try and make the best of a bad deal, and inflicted all this pain on the teachers and the school admins. In many ways, it would have been better if Labour hadn’t signed up to the contract before the election, and left it to National… then Labour would have had crowing rights about the mistakes that have occurred.

            • mickysavage 3.1.1.1.1.1

But Fluffy it was not the signing of the contract that caused all of the problems. It was the decision to go live even though there were a myriad of documented problems at the time the decision was made.

              • McFlock

what was it – 5/7 mission critical issues “completed or close to being completed”?

Who says “go live” unless all critical issues are resolved? By the very description, if even one critical issue isn’t solved, the system is guaranteed to fail.

And apparently Mr Fixit didn’t fix it.

  4. JonL 4

No one will go – they don’t have the moral integrity!

  5. agora 5

Is the National party so bereft of talent that they have to keep recycling Key, or are other factors involved ?

Demands by backers ? Which ones ?

  6. Tracey 6

no one from nats top ten will go

    • emergency mike 6.1

That’s my feeling too Tracey, resigning ministers looks bad innit?

So Bridges will continue to be a clueless bluffing narcissistic bully, Joyce will carry on fixing nothing, Parata won’t stop grinning at herself in the mirror, Bennett will keep on pushing beneficiaries under buses and claiming all the blood means she’s doing a great job, English will continue to find new ways to fudge numbers, Brownlee will keep on shafting Christchurch residents, and Key will keep telling us that everything is great, that it’s a media beat up, that it’s all Labour’s fault, and that Labour done it too.

      • Tracey 6.1.1

        while they call cunliffe, tricky

        • srylands 6.1.1.1

There will be no Ministerial resignations.

Yes that is because John key is the most honest, intelligent, popular leader in a generation, with the highest approval ratings of any leader in the western world, and to top it off running an economy that is the envy of the OECD. Keep up the obsession. Because it won’t work. It will simply guarantee a National victory.

Of course given the extremely peculiar electoral system adopted by New Zealand, National could indeed lose Government which would have intelligent commentators gasping in disbelief.

BTW you may be interested in this excellent article in the Australian Spectator that makes this point very well.

New Zealand’s PM is overwhelmingly popular, yet he stands to lose this year thanks to a shocking electoral system>>

          http://www.spectator.co.uk/australia/australia-features/9171411/key-to-defeat/

Sadly we are probably stuck with MMP for at least another 12 years.

          • McFlock 6.1.1.1.1

Yes that is because John key is the most honest, intelligent, popular leader in a generation, with the highest approval ratings of any leader in the western world, and to top it off running an economy that is the envy of the OECD.

and he farts moonbeams to the tune of Beethoven’s 6th, with full orchestration.

You’re worse than Pravda ever was.

            edit:
Actually, let’s look at some of those claims:
John key is the most honest leader in a generation
            Not according to blip’s list

John key is the most intelligent leader in a generation
You’re welcome to provide evidence, but Clark seems to have been smarter.

John key is the most popular leader in a generation
I seem to recall this was discussed before, and Clark had higher approval ratings than Key ever did.

          • Tracey 6.1.1.1.2

I truly never thought I would ask you this…

            are you drunk?

          • gnomic 6.1.1.1.3

‘John key is the most honest, intelligent, popular leader in a generation’

He said Smirking Weasel and honest. Bwaahahaha. Alas you are still a dunce. Cease your drivel please. Envy of the OECD. Dear oh dear oh dear. Would you like to repay the current national overdraft from your pocket money? Ever had any trouble sorting dung and clay?

As for Luke Malpass, author of your cited article, isn’t he a paid shill for the Round Table or whatever it has been rebranded as? Perhaps can’t get a job in the ‘real world’? Or is he that really pathetic specimen, the unpaid shill?

          • Martin 6.1.1.1.4

            sounds like dear leader.

  7. Tracey 7

i dont know much about ipredict.

are they subject to audit or regulating for insider information?

  8. gnomic 8

Well the weakest missing link can’t possibly be Simon Bridges. Since a Granny (TM) columnist has lately anointed him as often considered a potential Prime Minister. Haha. If so we are all doomed. Oddly enough I have never heard anybody say, if only that Simon was PM. Must be mixing with the wrong crowd. Or maybe I don’t know enough idiots.
