The New Zealand labour movement used to have its own newspaper. A group of us thought that now might be a good time for it to be digitally reborn: The Standard v2.0 - now in a new format The Standard v3.0

*hits head on desk, Basil Fawlty style*

The tragi-comedy continues. The Maori Party are now talking about getting an increase in benefit levels, to help consumers pay power bills and other costs. Their super-sharp, take-no-prisoners negotiators are working on it now, and ...

... so Paula Bennett immediately responds that there won't be an increase and there aren't any such negotiations. End of.

You know, it wouldn't be so bad if the Maori Party just stopped bullshitting. If they just stopped fooling themselves (but nobody else, not any more).

Rodney Hide ran rings round them. John Key runs rings round them. They've become a joke.

The Maori Party is committed to keeping our natural resources and environment healthy, safe and intact for everyone.

Within this, we are committed to assisting whanau, hapu and iwi, as tangata tiaki to take whatever measures are necessary to ensure the wellbeing and future good health of the environment.

The vacuity of the Maori party policy will shortly be infilled with cheap agricultural emmissions, courtesy of the taxpayer. Rangi of Rotorua as a taxpayer will pay the bill, gladly donating his meager resources to rich agri business......thanking Aunty Turiana for the privelege.

It's breathtaking, it really is.

Who did this deal for the Maori Party? Was it just the two co-leaders, or did Rahui Katene sign up for it as well? Sharples and Turia are probably a lost cause, but I thought Katene still had some self-respect.

Why is she in Parliament? She made that clear in her maiden speech, passionate and proud:

So ... From fiery radical to tame lap-dog in just nine months. That must be a record.
