Pot: Kettle, you’re black!

So one of our nastiest MPs in the House has got up on his high horse and warned the others to behave.

Yes, John Key – always desperate to ridicule others to distract from their points, before running and hiding before any return fire – is saying that other MPs have to tone down their nastiness, as the public doesn’t like it.

If the public was watching, they would long have tired of you, Mr Key.

It’ll be interesting to see if the media hold him up to his new high standard next time he starts taking aim, particularly if he gets to the levels of his PMs statement at the start of the year, which surely must have been the tone-setter…

This pot calling kettle reminds me of Hillary Clinton’s tactics.

“It’ll be interesting to see if the media hold him up to his new high standard next time he starts taking aim,”

I tried to come up with some pithy witticism involving flying pigs but failed. I guess I’ll just settle for: pass me another Tui.

The Jimmy Savile thing was definitely over the top.

The Logie tweet was nothing, suggesting English fucked a pile of shit to produce a pile of shit budget seems reasonable when Key links Bills reproduction and budget production.

Give up it Key, don’t try to fool the public into thinking that you aren’t that condescending bully who makes throat slitting gestures and lame spiteful jokes. A PM who has regular conversations with the nastiest political blogger in the country wants people to believe he’s a saint, what a fuckwit.

John Key, advising MPs to not get involved with twitter by, um, commenting on a twitter post. John Key, serial collector of wet bus tickets from the Speaker, advising MP’s to be more mature in question time. John Key, deflecting and distracting from his latest revelation of lying just as hard and fast as he can. Hamish Rutherford, fairfax ‘reporter’ doing what fairfax ‘reporters’ do.

…Winston should ignore Horan who is a Nact diversion..Peters is better off employing his considerable talents to attack John Key and Nact MPs corrupt behaviour and unprincipled policies

Key’s attack on Logie is bullying a female Green!…attack female! …..attack Green! …suits his purposes and personality…. TARGET: Jan Logie a more lovely, honest, principled person you would be hard to find…the polar opposite of Key in personality and ethics

Guy Espiner’s obsequiousness to John Key is pathetic!….He let Key go on and on without question or comment …just as he did with Brendan Horan’s questionable actionable accusations against Peters ( compare this with Ferguson’s not letting Lianne Dalzeil speak!)

…Guy Espiner allowed a free political party Nact broadcast…. with Key pretending to take the high ground to attack the Greens and an inoffensive woman MP ,who is allowed her say

…Geoff Robinson would have at least queried Key and pointed out that this is par for the course in a democracy surely and maybe Key and Nact are not entirely innocent

The sooner Espiner goes the better !…he is both incompetent and biased…who appointed him?

Radio New Zealand Morning Report has reached a new low …it is both boring and biased

      • David H 5.2.1

        @Chooky

I find that all you can do is lay formal complaints and get others to lay them as well,

      • gnomic 5.2.2

“The sooner Espiner goes the better !…he is both incompetent and biased…who appointed him?”

That would presumably be the new management. Appointed by the catspaws of the current regime. The hidden agenda being to dismantle Radio NZ as we knew it, in tandem with starving it for money. All in tune with the very cunning plan to white ant the state institutions rather than coming right out and smashing them in plain view. See also Housing NZ, etc etc.

As to Espiner, at least on radio the twitch is invisible. But he hasn’t got a voice for radio. In the old days that would have been considered a prerequisite, under management that actually cared about running a radio station. The woman isn’t that great on that front either. Still perhaps it doesn’t matter much that it’s hard to hear what Guyon is saying since it’s largely twaddle when audible.

I wonder how the ‘heading it up’ is going. What Guyon was going to do in the first flush of excitement after getting the job. And how is the poor chap managing on RNZ salary rates?

But radio is so last century in any case. What is wanted is telling very good audiovisual stories, according to the new leader, he who looks as if he slept in a haystack. Heavy on the Twitter, mkay?

    • ianmac 5.3

The Jimmie Savile thing may have been meant for Savile’s unkempt scruffy bizarre persona rather than his sex crimes. But once spoken its too late to explain.

  6. Sacha 6

Key is nasty in the debating chamber where hardly anyone sees, then gets to be Mr Reasonable in the media where they do. Drove Labour nuts last term and they in particular need to respond differently to avoid the same result.

  7. wyndham 7

This would be the absolute height of hypocrisy from Key. When it comes to ‘nastiness’, he tops them all, with perhaps the exception of the Sultan of Sneer, Stephen Joyce.
Interestingly, Joyce was expelled from the House yesterday prior to which he had been admonished by the speaker for disorderly comment.
Things are pretty bad when Carter expels a Nat !!

  8. Tom Gould 8

More of Key’s favourite ‘transference’ tricks. His answers in the House are always straight out personal attacks on whoever asks the question or anyone who interjects. Yet he gets away with calling everyone else a hypocrite? And the Gallery all sit up there, roaring with accepting laughter?

  9. felix 9

English says “the Greens have that sort of nasty underside to them and we see it in the House”.

Everyone who sees what goes on in the house knows this is the opposite of the truth. He can say this because most people don’t see what goes on in the house.

But the journalists do. They know this is the opposite of the truth.

ps what was Key referring to earlier this week when he threatened to reveal something from his top-drawer about Jan Logie?

    • Chooky 9.1

the Greens are extremely competent and Bill English knows it…they continually ask the hard questions… this is what Bill English , John Key and the Nacts find a “nasty underside”…the truth exposed

  10. veutoviper 10

Key is a total hypocrite IMO. But I also think that he is incapable of seeing/accepting that he is.

I have only had time lately to skim read TS and other blogs/media, but recall that someone here mentioned the disappearance of the video of Key’s throat slitting gesture.

A commentor on John Armstrong’s opinion piece yesterday also raised this and provided a link

    http://www.3news.co.nz/VIDEO-Key-makes-hand-gesture-to-throat/tabid/419/articleID/228536/Default.aspx

The article is still worth reading again just for a reminder of what took place that day; but the video links don’t seem to work – for me at least. Someone with more tech expertise may have better luck.

Edit – here is the link to Armstrong’s article – weak to say the least; but the comments (sorted by most liked) are worth a skim. Most do not support the ‘Greens etc are the nasty party’ etc and slug it straight to the Nats and Key.

    • felix 10.1

That throat-slitting thing, disgusting as it may be, is really nothing compared to what Key says and does in the house week in, week out.

  11. Mainlander 11

Poor old Labour eh cant foot it with John Key in a debate so resort to their own dirty tactics i.e Mallard, Logie the most recent, but hey thats ok isnt it because like the individuals on this post they cant see past their own hatred to see both sides do exactly the same thing, and then theres Winston who even for him has hit a new low

    • felix 11.1

John Key never shows up for debates in the house. You really should know that.

  12. Tracey 12

Whereas key lying to the House, the speaker is silent on that…. he said the documents showed it had always been a private dinner, when the documents didn’t show that. Oh, hat tip Gosman, he wasn’t lying, he just can’t read or comprehend written words. Phew.

  13. grumpy 13

…and I suppose Cunliffe’s speech at Rotorua just happened to need “sanitising” by Stuff editorial staff? The only question is was it done on a request from Labour because it showed front and centre how far left wing politics has gone out of control.

  14. appleboy 14

A compilation of Key at his worst in the house would be pure gold right now. Childish, not answering questions, changing the subject and that wanker tone he exhibits usually only in the house and on shithouse radio stations.

    • idlegus 14.1

when he gets up from his seat its like hes sitting on a rocket, its so fast, bloody bizarre. the compilation would be great.

  15. Lionel 15

Went away from question time last week because of Keys back of the classroom antics he is immature and arrogant he made comments in reply to a question by Cunliffe about Shane Jones leaving Labour to join a National led government he specialices in put downs and insults and useless Carter does nothing but can’t kick opposition MPs out quick enough.I referee rugby if I was as biast as that useless #*!# I would,ve been decked years ago they make me sick sadly I can,t see the gullible public having the gumption to get rid of them come September.
