Still in fear & smear attack mode eh pierson. Thought you may have switched tactics after it back fired so spectacularly during the campaign – but when its all you’ve got I guess you have to box on…

Our business employs over 150 staff so we are unfortunately not covered by this bill but hopefully they will extend it next year

Merry Xmas employers!, you no longer have to worry about your business, if someone isn’t working out in the first few months, you can let them go without of some union member or third party telling you your not allowed you, its your business, not the Government’s, thank you, National for bringing back People Power.

Even given that the G-G can’t refuse assent, the petition still serves the purpose of motivating people and raising public awareness. Not sure that it’s the best way to do it, but hey, we’ve only got ’til 9AM tomorrow so..

Agree with the campaign, except the petition to the Governor-General. That’s just dumb. The union should rethink that one.

When the Nats appoint Garth George as Governor-General, then we can have constitutional trench warfare. But not now.

The Facebook group also links to the EPMU-led petition to the Governor-General asking that he refuse to give assent to the law until it has gone through the normal democratic process. You can print it off and sign up, then fax it to them by 9am tomorrow morning. Or you could not bother. As I have repeatedly pointed out, the idea that the Governor-General has the power to refuse assent is a monarchical fiction. Simply because the right subscribe to this fiction is no reason for us to. Whatever my misgivings about process (and I think passing significant policy like this without a select committee is a gross abuse), if parliament passes a law, its the law, and the G-G has to sign it.
