3 News tonight: “the Government wants less pupils per teacher..”
Is TV3 employing National’s billboard genius to write the tele-prompter?

Also, my inside sources reveal that Matthew Hooten has no inside sources.
Think about it, who in the Beehive would talk to Hooten? If you did want to leak, wouldn’t you leak to someone credible? It’s a funny thing though – he keeps on making outragous accusations supposedly informed by those inside sources but when it turns out he was lying, as it always does, his employers keep paying him. Nice work if you can get it.

Nice work if you can get it.

  2. randal 2

sorry to go off topic but after reading this mornings sst and seeing their photos the question must be asked: how many chins do slater and farrar have between them?

  3. You need to be very careful about calling someone a liar, even on a blog. Do you know for sure he hasn’t a source.

  4. shut up brett you liar.

  5. randal 5

    YEAH BRETT…STOP LYING!

  6. Hahaha, you guys are a scream. Seriously what proof that you have that Hooten is lying?

  7. Pascal's bookie 7

Hooten lies Brett. If you don’t know that, you know anything. Watch him not sue anyone that calls him a liar.

  8. Felix 8

    Just common sense really Brett.

Everything the guy writes is batshit insane.

  9. I just think you should come up with some hard data to show that he lying, otherwise I don’t think his pants are on fire.

  10. randal 10

he wets himself as well. he has no self control whatsoever? now sue me!

  11. Class all the way, I guess where you have no proof at all, you revert to name calling, heck Labour has done it for nine years.

  12. randal 12

better than being a bourgeois prig with tight underpants, a big mortgage and a conceit that knows no bounds.

  13. Pascal's bookie 13

Ok Brett, Hooten reckons that Labour wants to destroy the free press. In support for this totally batshit thesis he claims as fact that Cullen threatened the Herald with higher taxes if they didn’t shut up. That’s a lie.

Only an absolute moron could come up with that interpretation of what Cullen said.

Cullen told the Herald that if he was to apply the Herald’s reasoning to a recent Herald problem over tax, then they would would get a tax bill. That isn’t a threat, it’s an argument against what the Herald was saying. Yet Hooten claims it was a threat against the freedom of the Press. Ergo he is a liar.

  14. Pascal

Finally someone on the standard comes up with evidence to back up their claim.

    Well done!

    :-)

  15. randal 15

well if you want the pudding you gotta eatcha meant ‘n potatos and randal says if hooten lied about that yhen he has lied about lots of other things too. and not just to standard readers but the whole dang country everytime he opens his prissy priggish lying little gob!

  16. Boy if you guys are this angry now, what are you going to be like when National wins the election?

  17. Anita 17

If I were the National campaign team, and there was a commentator as voluble as Hooten, I would make damned sure I had a way of feeding him the talking points I wanted him to cover. I would also want him to keep him as loyal as possible, so I’d make him feel like he was an insider and had inside information.

So, if we assume the National campaign team are competent, Hooten is being fed talking points and information by National and does believe he has insider sources as is on the inside.

His perception may well, however, be only a cynical construction of the Nats’ spin masters who simply recognise Hooten’s possibilities as a part of their arsenal of spin.

  18. randal 18

angry schmangry cut to the chase. hooten is still a liar. he lies about anything and everything…its in his nature. I’ve got no money so sue me? howzat?

  19. randal 19

nice one Anita. if hooten believes he is not lying then he is not lying. However if his lies are tested against reliable evidence and found to be untrue then he is a WILFUL LIAR. And Randal believes that Hooten is a wilful liar and until it is proven true that Hooten is not a wilful liar then my belief is true.

  20. Pascal's bookie 20

He’s like an upside down lawnmower that’s siting on the lawn with it’s blunt blades spinning hard out. It’s pretty clear that he can’t help himself.

If the nat’s want to catapault some smear that they can’t have tied to them directly, they just throw the shit at him, and physics takes care of the rest

  21. George.com 21

The quote was that the government wants less students per teacher. Phrased another way, the government wants lower class sizes.

Thats a good piece of news. Wouldn’t take Hooten much thought however to realise that is actually Government policy. The 1-15 new entrant ratio comes in next year. No inside source needed for Hooten to grasp that point, just read Labours website.

  22. george.com – the thing about the pupil teacher ratio was a separate point about bad grammar (says less should be fewer)

anita. i don’t doubt national talks to hooton.. he claims beehive sources.

randal. some very funny comments but lay off the personal stuff.

brett. look at the claims Hooton makes – there won’t be an election, beehive has had no minister banned, lab and nzf will accuse glenn of funding national… all turned out to be false, hooton never provided ay evidence to back up those outragous claims.. when you’re just making stuff up, that’s lying.

  23. Brett Dale: I wouldn’t accuse Hooton of lying. I’d simply observe he says a lot of things that either aren’t true or are later found to be untrue. So much so that I now tend to lump him in with other commentators on the Right, like Mark Steyn or David Horowitz, who talk utter crap all day every day, for reasons best known to themselves.

  24. dave 24

Pierson – so you’re saying the governemnt wants more pupils per teacher.

  25. Graeme 25

who in the Beehive would talk to Hooten?

I don’t know, but I’m told their equivalent in National leaks to Trevor Mallard…

  26. Go The Right 26

Good on Mathew for bringing more info out from under the covers. Yet another one surfaced on Sunrise this morning which caused a lot of debate and rightly so.

If your a Gay student leaving School you can apply for a $2000 scholarship. I would have thought that is against the Human rites Act because it disadvantages straight people.

Personally I believe that it is diabolical than any Government or Department would do that just for the Rainbow Vote

  27. higherstandard 27

“Also, my inside sources reveal that Matthew Hooten has no inside sources.”

I think both of you are in desperate need of an enema !

  28. Steve 28

On The Right: Having watched the trash was that the Sunrise clip and done a quick bit of Googling, you will be pleased to know that the scholarship is not coming out of the public purse but from GABA, which funnily enough happens to be the Gay Auckland Business Association. The government connection is that Chris Carter is the patron of the group. Not government money, nothing to see here, move along folk…

  29. Pascal's bookie 29

Steve, did the journo’s make that clear? Sounds like a pretty critical part of the story.

  30. Dom 30

Go the Right – “If your a Gay student leaving School you can apply for a $2000 scholarship. I would have thought that is against the Human rites Act because it disadvantages straight people.”

Wow, GTR – off-topic AND homophobic – you scored a double!

And your spelling is as bad as National’s grammar…

That piece was from a Listener beat up – a total non-story that tries to make it look like the government was involved when its a private grant. I’m actually writing to the Listener to cancel my sub today as a result. If it was a race based grant no one would bat an eyelid.

  31. Steve 31

Not at all, nothing was mentioned about the source of the scholarship. The clip is on the sunrise section of http://www.tv3.co.nz if anyone wants to look at it. The slant of clip was ‘scholarship for gay students, straights can’t apply’ with a little bit nature v nuture and affirmative action politics thrown in. Wendyl Nissen did raise the comparison to Ngai Tahu scholarships, but lots of talking over with the old white hetero male being most up in arms about it…

  32. Pascal's bookie 32

There ya go then, just another shining example of the liberal media bias in action.

  33. Go The Right 33

Steve where do Gaba get funds from

Perhaps we can start one up for Straight Students where Gays cant apply that would fair wouldn’t it, and I’m sure it wouldn’t be contentious with the Gays they would be so understanding!!

Probably Chris Carter believes its a great Idea he should be questioned on it to see what his true thoughts are

  34. Steve 34

GABA get their funds from members donations, corporate sponsors and fundraising events, no different than say the NZ Business Roundtable.
This was the announcement on the GABA site ‘The Trust has decided to create an annual scholarship of $2000 to be awarded to an out, proud secondary student who is recognized by their teachers and fellow students as a good role-model.’ By definition of the winner, rather than the application process, the winner has to be GLBT. Still confused – try South Park S11E01..

Standard Crew: Sorry for continuing the threadjack…

  35. Matthew Pilott 35

Rob (now called “go the right”), are you telling me that you think a private origanisation should not be allowed to create a scholarship as they see fit? Whatever happened to individual freedom, Rob? Or do you think individual freedom doesn’t apply when someone is trying to help out gays?

If you want to start a scholarship for straight people, then by all means. you might find a few people questioning why a sector of society that is not disadvantaged needs a scholarship, but it’s your money. Unlike you, I wouldn’t want to dictate what you do with it.

Seems Rob is more “nanny state” than the rest of us!
