Turia's learning the price of loyalty. Her Whanau Ora is getting cuts. Key knows she'll roll over and vote for any budget to keep her seat in the limo. Hide's 2025 Taskforce is for the chop too. Key says it's not worth the money. Never was. 300K down the drain. Brash off the gravy train; back to corned beef and peas. Bet Key's silly cycleway won't be cut.

I'm confused by the up beat coverage of the tourism figures released on Wednesday. Have people actually read the numbers? Tourism is in decline. Employment and revenue are still going down, and the next time oil prices go through the roof, the situation will get worse. No cycleway will change that.

It became increasingly clear this year that National's longer-term economic plan, such as they had one, could be summed up as “tax cuts and mining”.

With mining in national parks now out of the picture, just what is National's plan to grow the economy and lift our wages to Australian levels?

I love that John Key is so desperate to show some progress on his memorial cycleway that he's even going along to the opening of cycleways that aren't funded with its money. On Sunday he showed up at the opening of a cycleway in Oamaru. The cycleway was funded by the council and NZTA. The recession has been over for a year - not a single job has been created, no cycleway built.
