I have been out and about delivering Census forms. I get the impression that many who live in poorer homes often have kids playing outside, low security and a friendly disposition of the adults.
Somehow the more expensive homes seem to have locked screens and doors, seldom a kid in sight, and adults often suspicious at first. Not sure what that all means.

And there are so many houses with only one person living in them. Those in Council flats seem sad and without hope or excitement in their lives. Every person was at home rather than out and about. Just waiting. Just sad really. I don’t think they had any reason to be interested in Census taking.

  I collected for the Salvation Army numerous times…could tell / share some socio-economic anecdotes, yet, yesterday, a pleasant man with an excellent sales patter accosted me in the garden to advise me that if I was quick (before offer ends and the business opens retail premises) I could have a “tablet” and a “techy” phone if I signed up for many moons of payments on a HUGE flatscreen tele!
  Anyway, the most appropriate product for my needs (if they were not wants) was a “notebook” and the payments for that in total = approx $1200 (I saw a HUGE advertisement for similar on Noel’s wall for $369!). We got chatting (as U do) and discussed how his (and many employers) “knew” exactly what his activities were due to GPS on his smart(i don’t think so) phone and in his car. Anyway, I gave him a complementary pen, cos he did not have one of those. 🙂

  The Council flats at the back of the Wellington Zoo just got refurbished and look lovely, as did the ones at the bottom of Brooklyn hill. residents might still sit in those and look sad as well (so long as you don’t chip the paint). It would be nice to think these refurbs have spread a little happiness and smiles.

Hello weekend socialites.

The clever people who make the guitar software I rely on, made it so a rock band/guitar hero guitar controller can be used to ‘play’ and record in real time.
So I bought a discontinued Logitech ps3 guitar (google it. Sexy black number) and gave it a go.
I’m over the shame in using a toy, and no buyers remorse, so far.

1) I seem to be unable to edit my comments after I have posted them. Problem at my end or The Standard’s end?

2) Is there a technical support page here? Would be better to have one here people could comment on as opposed to emailing you direct.

  Problem at our end somewhere – started wednesday. Not sure what it is right now. I bounced when I started to look at it and I haven’t had the time available to get stubborn and scare the frigging bug into the open.
  
  I’ll be giving it some time on this weekend. Problem with that re-edit system is that is just so damn fragile. I suspect that there was an issue with either JQuery or ColorBox somewhere…
  
  However I fixed my last major remaining bug at work today. So if that will give me time to take some real time off to work on the slowly accreting pile of maintenance issues. I think I have several months of holiday available. And Lyn can’t find that many weddings to drag me to. Last one was in 1987 (and ended badly 20 years later). But apparently I have to go to the lab-rat city next weekend..

Django unchained was a hoot last night. A homage to every spaghetti western with the characteristic blood and gore splatter that Tarantino made his trademark (giving up on films apparently – too much effort to get them made). Dialogue and music was like wading through every western in creation. And the story line had that typical cutting disconnection of the genre.

The German bounty hunter was a particularly finely drawn character, while the villainous and crafty chief slave was plain disgusting.

Worth watching. And Lyn liked it…
