   The National Party government is about to pay $120,000,000 to sales agents for the asset sales – how about ask them for a small slice of that? You may have to get down on your knees and beg and kiss their toes hidden under their grand golden robes, but hey, that is the rightful way….

   You judge a society by how its treats its most vulnerable.

   New Zealand fails like a stinking pile of shit.

     Cannot possibly agree more.

     We have ministers and consultants and focus groups and glad-handers and ticket-clippers of every known flavour and variety gorging themselves sick at our expense.

     But there is no money fund vital services for our fellow human beings who are in dire need of help?

     It’s enough to make you weep.

     vto – absolutely correct!

     I despair when I see agencies, services and also school parents having to go around “begging” for the funds they need, which is the result of a rotten government and system, that is only focused on the “needs” of the powerful and rich elite and key “stake-holders”.

     There is no shortage of funds to help sell the state owned enterprises, to offer carrots for NZ investors wanting to buy shares in what they already own, to pay for BMWs driving ministers around, to invest in expensive highways for traffic volumes that may never eventuate, to bail out large finance companies and to give away as tax cuts favouring the high earners and wealthy.

     But councils complain about vagrants sleeping on public benches, beneficiaries face further harassment and cuts, mental health services are getting under-funded, and also rape crisis and other support services are being left out in the cold.

     That shows the priorities of a NatACT government led by a self centred, dishonest former merchant banker and money trader.

   Where are the mega-rich 1% in the NZ? How much can they donate? How about phoning the bank managers around the country to seek their donations of 1% of their salaries?

   It looks as if Hell’s Pizza didn’t put a maximum $$ match on donations. Hopefully Rape Crisis gets enough to blow a big hole in Hell Pizza’s advertising budget.

   And of course if the campaign succeeds the government will consider it did the right thing and will justify it by saying “the money was out there”. Of course not every year will a commercial operator make such an appalling statement to help.

   I agree, with no maximum let’s milk hells pizza for enough to get rape crisis wellington over the line for a few years, and perhaps a share to other centres too.

   Oh, and watch as a maximum is announced by Hell’s “soon”.

   I thought the National Party approach to life was to let business get on with itself in the free market without government intervention, and that that would help govrnment to intervene and provide for those in need.

   But instead we have the reverse. The National Party provides welfare for business (irrigation, electricity companies to invest in, loans to mediaworks, support for NZX) and leaves those in need to the free market (rape crisis).

   The right wing ideologies are switched and they don’t seem to know it. It is either brainless or evil – not sure what else it could be …… but whatever it is it is proof again that right wing mantra has collapsed.

     It’s already happened in health – with services being removed from smaller hospitals it’s charities like Life-Flight that move the patients and families of kids who are moved stay at Ronald McDonald House. They get payments from the DHBs but require donations to keep afloat.

     However it all depends how marketable you are. It’s much easier for charities like RM House to get donations because it’s for sick kids, rather than the likes of Rape Crisis and Women’s Refuge, which I think too many people would prefer to pretend weren’t required.

       Yes, health is a good area to look at. While there is Ryall constantly going on about the so many more cases of elective surgery being conducted now, he never talks about cuts in certain other areas, like mental health.

       They also hailed their additional funding of “youth mental health care”, but they do all that by reducing other services at the same time.

       ProCare Psychology Services in Epsom, Auckland, used to offer 5 free of charge (subsidised) counselling sessions for mild to moderate mental health sufferers, which has been reduced to 4 now, due to lack of sufficient funding by the Ministry.

       Also have I been informed that already in 2010 Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) were having to implement savings, due to budget restraints.

       NatACT are experts at misleading the public, trumpeting around their supposed achievements, when in reality it is much cut, slash and burn in certain areas not given much publicity.

         Same with primary care – i think that’s part of the problem for the Wellington Peoples Centre – definitely for the Newtown community health services – funding from the CCDHB has been reduced. As a result access to primary care for the poorest and must vulnerable (e.g. mental health patients, teens) is more difficult.

   Fortunately the morals, or lack thereof of one of those in the commercial world has opened the door to the rape crisis centre, otherwise…

   The government need to get it why the word crisis follows the word rape and then to pour the necessary funds into an organisation (Rape Crisis) which really does care about sexual assault/violence. The work Rape Crisis does to prevent sexual assault is also being eroded.

   The culture at ACC regarding sexual assault/violence is sick, uncaring and BROKEN.

   Who out there who works at the coalface repairing the fragmented lives of those who have been sexually assaulted will be next?
