This morning on Morning Report Simon Bridges spouted some words. Connected with reality they were not. Despite all economic data saying otherwise – strong government books and growth – we're in an "Economic downturn". And the government is "failing" and …

In a welcome move by Labour to relieve energy poverty on those with fixed, low incomes, all beneficiaries (including pensioners) are to get up to $700 extra automatically over winter. This will reduce the rate of deaths among the old & ill as they live in …

Despite their bootcamp policy being a complete failure, National are going to send our most "hardened" youth offenders to the Army to be trained up. If that fails, they'll send them to adult prisons to learn their craft better. How does this make any sense…

Newshub reports a surge in nominations for Metiria to be the New Zealander of the Year. I just love this idea and would encourage others to nominate her too. So even if she's forced out of parliament (I don't say politics, I'm sure she'll still be involved…
Did you actually watch it? She certainly wasn't defending Rogernomics.
She's been a good servant of the NZ public...

Steven Joyce was pushing this line on RNZ this morning – knowing that it'll backfire if they attack Jacinda. They tried that when she became deputy (and Joyce was hanging Nikki Kaye out to dry on that – even though clearly she'd been put up to it, having …

Thank you Anthony. I don't blame Labour Caucus either. I thank Andrew for uniting Labour for the last 3 years & getting Labour moving in the same direction. Not sure why there was a lack of cut-through to the public, but hopefully Jacinda can get that. Can...
+1 But yet, still got to press on with the campaign. A new leader in half-an-hour... hopefully Jacinda can turn the polls around?!? Politics is brutal, and contrary to popular opinion it's mainly good-hearted people involved... (and real people, no matter ...
No. Really don't want Labour to be in a position where they were even having vague thoughts about changing the leader 8 weeks out from an election...

Bill English has premiered at 25% in today's TV3 poll, down considerably from John Key's 36.7% in TV3's last poll – and that was his lowest polling as PM. 25% is also far lower than Helen Clark ever got as PM. Indeed the last incumbent PM to poll so low …
Just utterly shocking, cynical, out-of-ideas government. There's no defending this. It's abuse of power, and good on the Ombudsman for standing up and being counted (although I'm sure that will result in further underfunding of a weakened institution) ...
