the woman is truly Trump-esque. Straight out of his playbook. Rogue polls and Fake News
I meant before JC. Over at the sewer there seems to be a line that the parents must be Labour Party operatives not to go to JC first. Of course this overlooks the fact a mere mortal could be forgiven last week for not having a clue who was the leader of ...
Yep. Explains why the parents went to JA first. And I want to know who else in the Nats had the image and who else shared it...I predict there may be more to come. But I’m an old cynic from way back
I think the real question is...who DIDN’T receive the Boag emails?! Hopefully the Heron inquiry will reveal all
As a health and privacy lawyer I am deeply concerned about this and I agree Micky, these questions all need to be answered.
Peter - done. Emailed RNZ this morning
I don't buy that there was a work-related reason for her to receive the info. I don't see why the CEO of a Helicopter Trust needs access to a list of Covid patients. There's no discernible reason for that so either further digging needs to be done to ...
Me too! She's also very dumb. Over lockdown she said well this is Covid-19 there must have been 18 Covids before and we survived. Oh dear.
"threatened to summons the Solicitor-General to the select committee and require him to hand over legal advice..." The Solicitor-General is an extremely capable woman. Una Jagose. Other than that, I agree completely with your post.
The OIO looks through such entities as far as is possible to try and determine the real beneficiaries. Not sure how effective this is, but the Act does allow for it
@DavidC - correct
@Muttonbird - sensitivity only applies to farmland over 5ha, not to commercial urban property
@cleangreen, they do. They monitor conditions yearly. It is probably a resourcing thing I suspect.
@weka. Yep, pretty much
@weka - only those that exist in general law. i.e. no specific oversight at present of the sort of things that OIO can condition (walking access, protection of flora and fauna etc)
@JanM - being there, it certainly did feel like that! I was tearful too. It was such a nice atmosphere - there was a sense of butterflies seeking the light after nine years of darkness! I was making friends with strangers all around me, and I managed to ...
Weka +100. Crafar Farms being a case in point!
Hi weka. Yes I totally agree. I'd rather the whole legislation was repealed!! I was just pointing out how it currently works in terms of SOME environmental protections. In answer to your query - if consent was granted on one basis, then it was desired to ...
Weka, in this kind of situation, environmental protections would (and do) become crucial to the test the OIO has to apply. Because there is an alternative NZ purchaser, the OIO will focus on what the overseas purchaser can give to NZ that the NZ purchaser ...
@Ad yes, that is unfortunately true. Effect at great human cost however.
And just to explain my last comment - there are quite a few traumatised people around Wellington and NZ as a result of working there.
Mai Chen?! That was a joke right...???! Agree with the rest of the list.
I spared a thought for him. Done. On with my life now!
All good JC! I think after nine long years we are justified in having a a bit of mutual overlapping gloating! I saw it on breaking news in Koru Lounge in akld and gave a cheer :) probably alone in my sentiments here
Viper we are clearly lefties with too much time on our hands!! :) :) :)
Not a good week for the Nats: http://www.courtsofnz.govt.nz/static-files/eight-mile-style-v-new-zealand-national-party.html 600k later...!
Never forget that Ken shirley was an Act MP
Excellent news. Such a short sighted focus. Now can we just reverse the ugly expressway through our beloved Kapiti???! I wish....and now Transmission Gully as well :(
@Sanctuary I do the same!! Still on cloud 9
I think relentless negativity in the form Michele Boag portrays is going to turn people off left right and centre in the face of the positive collaborative attitude to be shown by Ardern and Shaw. So while she is hideous to endure in the short term, she ...
If there is an alternative NZ purchaser, then the Chinese buyer will need to show the benefits he can offer that the NZ purchaser cannot (i.e. the counter-factual). Fingers crossed he can't meet the test
