Of course there are Australians living here who might want to go home to see family or people in general with sick or dying relatives who need to travel. This is just nasty neo liberal Labour and National trying to score brownie points with middle class ...
It never gets any better.....not sure what more there is to say......
To my knowledge no one revolted against Stalin(shame that) but they did revolt against the corrupt opulence and cruelty of the Tsarist regime. I don't think this is too different really. Its an increasingly small number of people who have everything acting...
In my opinion this Labour govt and many before it are really National in sheep's clothing. This story is really sad but I have to say predictable. What amazes me and I see this again and again on social media is how people pick up any positive scraps of ...
Nor do I. I see the individual quoted is a journalist. I'd like to see some hard facts from scientists who have evaluated this issue on both a local and international level. Personally as someone whose wife is Chinese I can tell you even the locals say the...
In Canada NAFTA is being used to stifle attempts to place health labels on junk food like candy bars..... The fact any govt that claims to be on the left is pushing for this tells us plainly they are in fact right wing neo libs and no amount of acolyte ...
So basically its a spin on state housing,,,,,,nothing new there. It always worked it still does....how it will work if the CP-TPP passes and it hurts big developers bottom line is something I'd be keen to find out more about.....
We have a beach house in Foxton. The river next to the playground where our daughter plays smells like rotten eggs and last time I looked had a dead eel in it. Looks like nitrate soup. I would not put a toe in there. This is what both Labour and the Nats ...

+1.
Deplorable. Yet another reason why I do not trust govt or its various mechanisms.
Amazing how we are always hearing about the Republicans but hardly a word about the dirt attached to the Dems. I would very much doubt too that data gathering is limited to any one political party. https://inc42.com/buzz/cambridge-analytica-big-data-...
Given this is the same govt determined to sign the CP-TPP and have it pass this is weak tea at best. Lets see where it goes, my prediction....nowhere.....
LOL......
More anti Russian BS from the deep state. The reality is they are trying to shut Russia out of any trade deals now they have their economic blockade the TPP in place.
NZF? Keep in mind its Labour who pushed hard for the TPP. I would say they are the one's who could not care less.
After the TPP is passed this will all be academic. Big pharma wont want natural alternatives.
Putting all of this aside a better question to address to Labour is do they still think they are a party of the left? After all like it or not its leftist voters who hold the real balance of power.
This is why i simply ignore the MSM these days. Having a few too many is no excuse for this kind of behaviour. Suffice to say Labour are hardly covering themselves in glory, first the TPP and now this.
Lets be honest and say there is bugger all difference between the last so called govt and this one. Nat 2.0.
And TPP11 signing Labour are? All you guys can think of to talk about is past tense National when the current mob are behaving in a very convincing way JUST LIKE THEM!!!! Unbelievable.
Right so Labour and co signing the TPP11 doesn't make them doofus or doofi of the decade? Instead some bit of petty nonsense from the right is more worthy of discussion.
We all know the answer to that BM. The MSM are in many instances owned by big corporations who stand to gain from the passage of the TPP.
I think you might find a good degree of that "opposition" was not because they did not want the TPP its because it did not offer enough for them to agree to it. In particular the clause excluding tobacco was a bone of contention with Congress......
More reason than ever to stand up and be counted but you do make a good point....
My prediction is NZ will become a banana republic if this passes. What they fail to realise is people are mobile these days. They can leave and many probably will. Especially the better educated who want a decent life for themselves and their families.
Why was Ms Ghahraman the only Green MP to stand up and speak out? All praise to her but where is Shaw on this and the rest of the Greens? Disappointing......
It will pass in the US in time. Its simply a matter of having the right person in the drivers seat. I suspect voters in the US felt Clinton would have passed it once in so they moved their vote to Trump.
A well written article Matthew but in my opinion you are being too kind to Labour. I stopped trusting them after the Lange government in the 1980's when they NOT the Nats took NZ down a really ugly and cruelly implemented path to bare faced capitalism. ...
A good point Siobhan. I think we are in the same place now where the US is. I remember one commentator said the Dems had taken the place of the Republicans and the Republicans had simply moved further right.
I'd be surprised come next election if the current mob don't find themselves in a similar position to Germany. No clear winners due to voters who feel disenfranchised and the TPP11 making any govt less relevant. As to the Nats I think they are indeed on ...
