    Stop the presses ..!

Heather Roy..on the rnz panel .. arguing in support of a four day week…

    Colour me surprised..!

..and in support of protections for children against citizens arrest..(!)

(Did she gobble a couple of ‘e’s..?..or something..?

    I mean..good on her…!

    • Phillip ure 1.1

..and she doesn't like Phil Collins…

      (Bless her..!..)

      • Bearded Git 1.1.1

I heard that….she has had an epiphany….maybe reading the runes?

        • Phillip ure 1.1.1.1

She also said some sensible things about local gummint…

I'd vote for her if she stood for mayor of Auckland…

..she clearly has a brain…and is a thinker ..and is not an ideological prisoner..

We could do with one of those..

          • Incognito 1.1.1.1.1

I'd vote for her if she stood for mayor of Auckland…

            Surely, you’re not that gullible??

            • Phillip ure 1.1.1.1.1.2

I’mIf she was going to enact/drive policies like a four day week….quite possibly I am that 'gullible'..

Care to remind us when labour had any real reforming policies ..?..like a four day week..

As neoliberal incrementalists..that goes totally against their grain…

              (So ..cue chirping crickets..)..IMHO ..

…and it is for mayor…not prime minister..

Did you listen to what she said..?…or is your response just an ideological knee-jerk..?

If you haven't listened to what she said can I suggest you do that….then come and tell us why you/labour disagree with…?

(I actually think starting with councils having a four day week… will help drive that change thru the rest of the economy.

              What's 'bad' about that…?

I'll take the four day week from wherever it comes…

That would be real/positive reform for workers…
Much more so than some chump-change tax reform…that is eaten up by costs elsewhere…in about five minutes…

              • Incognito

                Sigh

FWIW, I didn’t listen to it because you provided no link. And FWIW, I was commenting about your obvious political naivety and associated gullibility.

Do you happen to know know who the mayoral candidates are or do you pick your ‘winner’ based on the latest snippet you’ve picked up somewhere randomly?

What does a 4-day work week got to do with being Auckland Mayor anyway!?

                • Phillip ure

Ok ..I reported it live..there was no link..but I am sure that you would know to google panelrnzheatherroy…

But as you say you have no interest in doing that..I guess you are ok with it being an ideological knee-jerk…and not a considered response..fair do..!

You say you really wanted to point out how politically naive and gullible I am..

(Got any evidence of that..?..or just an o.p..?.. should I file them with your claim I am illiterate..?)

I would counter by saying I have a mind that is open to good ideas…

..and a four day week is a good idea..

And couldn't it be deemed politically both naive and gullible…to cling to the tattered flag of a neoliberal incrementalist labour party ..

..that has not delivered for it's believers..seemingly since forever…eh..?

And you are unable to see how councils getting a four day week..would open that door for everyone else…?

And I have suspicions you like Phil Collins..

                  • Incognito

[…] I have a mind that is open to good ideas…

..and a four day week is a good idea..

I'd vote for her if she stood for mayor of Auckland…

Politically naïve and gullible, easily swayed, prone to delusionary thinking, relies on ‘common sense’ and other heuristics, lacks critical thinking and logical analytical skills, unable to link, and so forth and so forth.

BTW, I never said you were illiterate, I said you were semi-illiterate (https://thestandard.org.nz/open-mike-13-06-2025/#comment-2036193) to which I can now add that you have poor reading comprehension but that’s really the same thing, isn’t it?

It’s not the site that’s fucked up at the mo’; I trashed two of your yawn-comments that were caught in the SPAM-trap because there was a typo in your user handle – how fucked up is that?????

                    • Phillip ure

                      Heh..!…you still haven't answered the big/important question…

                      The Phil Collins one..

(I could bang on about how your naive and gullible ideological rigidity freezes your mind/imagination.. IMHO…..but I can't be bothered..)

                      Phil Collins…?

Do typos get you really really angry..?
                      Really…?

Public lashings for offenders be enough …?

                    • Incognito []

                      Yawn

Just like the other Phil, you beat the same drum, day in, day out – I imagine you in a gorilla suit each time I see one of your comments and some days TS looks like a real jungle.

Typos in user handles mean that a Mod needs to spend time on them. Typos are avoidable. People who make typos in their user handles and blame the site waste time of Mods and Mods take all necessary steps to reduce time wastage, which is a completely rational response.

People who cannot think coherently, cannot string a sentence together, and think that ellipses are an undervalued punctuation but don’t know how/when to use it appropriately, are notorious for wasting precious time of others.

                      Um..!… aren't typos accidental…?..by their very definition..?

Are you saying they are deliberate attempts to annoy you in some way..?

Actions speak louder than words. Three identical replies from you with a typo in the user handle. So, either you’re trying to wind me or you’re incapable. What to do with you, little monkey?

                    • Muttonbird

Phillip. While there is a sort of bug in the system in that the cursor defaults to the username box instead of the text box when replying, which can lead to an error in the username if you begin typing straight away, with a little care and attention it's easy to relocate to the correct place before typing your comment. It soon becomes second nature.

                    • weka []

                      This.

One can also check the username and email address before submitting the comment.

                    • Phillip ure []

                      @ muttonbird ..

                      Chrs for that..

It happens from just accidentally brushing against the key ..
And of course the software could be set to automatically go to comment box …
Not to the name of the commenter..
                      That would sort it…

                    • weka []

If it was that easy Lprent would have sorted it already. It’s a known issue, and for now it’s on individual commenters to manage. Like I said, just check the name and email fields before you submit the comment.

                    • Phillip ure []

                      Ok .. thanks..will do..

I am puzzled that if it is a known issue..why I faced such vitriol for falling foul of said issue..

                    • weka []

the main issue from a moderator perspective is having our time wasted. You’ve been told many times to sort this out, so it starts to get annoying.

                    • Incognito []

Because you prove the Pareto rule.

  2. Phillip ure 2

    And…the big one…she doesn't like Phil Collins…

I find that to be an essential in a politician…

  3. Phillip ure 3

My previous comment had a typo…

And typos are accidental eh..?..are we agreed on that..?

And I would note I have a master's degree..2nd class hons ..(I was raising a baby during my last two years..working part time etc etc..)

I received A+ for some of my musings..so .y'know..!..I would challenge your depictions of me as semi-literate…

You are probably confusing your dislike of what I argue for…for my literacy… IMHO..

    And I am toasted/mellow as..unable to be wound up…

    • Phillip ure 3.1

      A blend of 27% legal…and two blackmarket offerings ..

      Very nice..!

The legal weed thing has had quite the effect on the blackmarket..
      Quality up..and price down..
Currently down to $250 an oz…as opposed to the legal still at about $400 oz…
With promises of future further discounts..from the blackmarket..(!)
Local is still being pulled too early . .legal is perfectly cured .

    • Incognito 3.2

And he keeps on drumming like a dopey Duracell bunny.

Typos can be corrected before submitting – did you have no typos in your A+ student work at all?

You think you’re still as sharp as when you did your Masters?

Do you think having a Masters degree makes you immune from being politically naïve and gullible?

      I didn’t call you semi-literate.

You must be tired – go to sleep before you put me into a slumber.
