“The concrete multi-storey car park is a familiar sight in British town centres. The structures were built in large numbers during the 1960s and 1970s but the online shopping boom has reduced demand for town centre parking, and many car parks now stand empty. Authorities either have to pay for the upkeep, or consider demolition to claw back valuable land space. There is now a third option. In Newcastle-under-Lyme, a Brutalist multi-storey car park is being repurposed into high-density housing, with contractors keeping the structure mostly intact. In theory the plan will deliver 111 new homes, while avoiding what would have been the environmental impact of demolition and a potential rebuild. It could provide a blueprint across the country for those who want to preserve brutalist architecture and ease the housing crisis at the same time.”

    Auckland’s Downtown car park anyone?

Starmer and Trump have come to an agreement on tariffs (yet to be announced).

But first their free trade deal with India

That deal will make it easier for UK firms to export whisky, cars and other products to India, and will cut taxes on India’s clothing and footwear exports.

So those in the UK can be seen out and about clothed and shoe'd by India. And Indians can drink drive.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the deal would boost the economy and "deliver for British people and business".

India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, described the agreement as an historic milestone that was "ambitious and mutually beneficial".
