Correct – the only thing I'd accuse her of is naivety about how the right will be gunning for her as a supporter of the elimination policy.
Anything that can be spun as a deviation from the rules will be. So not wearing a mask outside even when there aren't many people around, or letting your friend go for a swim without trying everything short of physical restraint to dissuade them, is a risk.

I thought that Slater had suffered a stroke and was under the impression that was put forward as grounds for him to be treated leniently by the legal system when he had 'some issues.'

My wife had a stroke at the age of 30. It happened right in front of me as we were chatting over coffees at the dining table. She suddenly started slurring her words and quickly became unintelligible, and fell out of her chair onto the ground.
The ambos were there in 20 minutes.& she was in Wellington Hospital within the hour, after being stabilised en route. She remembered nothing of the event and the ambulance trip.
She woke up shortly afterward (they might have given her something, I don't remember). One side of her face drooped and she had lost the use of the limbs on one side of her body.
I stayed with her till 11 pm and returned early the next day, all the while engaging her in somewhat halting conversation and she began to get the use of her arm and hand quite quickly. They gave her a rubber ball to squeeze and told me to carry on doing what I was doing.
The stroke turned out thankfully to be a mild one & we managed to get her out of bed & mobile the next day. Her speech returned to normal & the droop disappeared. We just kept up the intensive exercising and ball squeezing and she recovered completely within 3 weeks.
Whaleoil staff were posting updates about Cam & although they were a bit cryptic, reading between the lines I remember thinking that he had likely had a similar mild stroke and had probably recovered relatively quickly.

All the domestic restrictions are being scrapped, as of today. There are Covid 19 deaths but they are at about half the level of the Flu deaths that happen each year in New Zealand.
