The news at 5:30 had it that the not found woman who travelled with her Covid mate to Northland as, "identified." Which means they know who she is.

The Wanaka two had pictures plastered all over the media yet they weren't being sought.

Doesn't someone have a name and photos for the press to go with the question, "Wanted: As a matter of public safety?"

The member from Epsom wants exemptions for suburbs like.. Epsom

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/126643712/covid19-act-calling-for-suburbs-with-90-per-cent-vaccination-rate-to-be-let-out-of-lockdown

“Why should a suburb who has done the right thing, and there’s many of those in central Auckland for example, continue to face the same sanctions as areas where vaccination rates are low?” he said.

Obviously that doesn't even begin to make sense but worse, Seymour knows that perfectly well. It's the most cynical kind of grandstanding, because he knows he will never have to account for it.

      Morally bankrupt.

      • Gezza 2.1.1

Smug bugger’s getting too cocky for his own good.

That suggestion is not going to go down well with the general public, imo. Smacks of elitism. Probably scored himself an own goal there.

        • Anne 2.1.1.1

Probably scored himself an own goal there.

For the umpteen time. Since the tabloid journos in particular let him get off scot-free and the numpties out there can't see the wood for the trees, he knows he's safe and can dribble out as much crap as he likes.

          • Gezza 2.1.1.1.1

Yes, HE might be safe, but his other party MPs probably rely to a greater extent on a certain amount of good will from the voting public. He could squander that if he doesn’t take great care not to look & sound entitled & snobby.

    • SPC 2.2

No suburb of New Zealand has a 90% second dose plus 2 weeks vaccination rate.

    • Doris 2.3

Exactly, if we have been vaccinated, Jacinda and Ashley and the team said we will not die or go to hospital or get the other clots and heart problems or infertility issues, like Sixiousie wiles confirmed the other day, if we got the vaccine, because you only get those things from covid 19. , so we are all protected so we should be allowed to go and do anything we want, we have complete protection just like our govt said to us pre vaccine. Jacinda said its 100% safe and effective to stop us from getting covid 19, we did the right thing for ourselves so let us out Jacinda?

We cant get sick, we wont die so why do we have to protect the unprotected, it is obvious the unprotected do not wish to have it, they probably never had any flu vaccine , so they dont want it and that's their problem, each to their own, its just like any other flu vaccine, they take their own risk, but we should not be penalised for being protected, so at least let us out?

What is the difference in reality its just another vaccine, we didn't have to lockdown before, not even with sars or swine flu so let the unprotected get sick, don't give them treatment or they have to pay for treatment if they don't want to have a free vaccine, we are protected so open the god dam border and let us live our life, we are sick and tired of being preached to and held back from living from a minority of people, Jacinda said the unvaxed are a minority so the chances of running into a sick one are very low being a minority, so stop killing our economy and our lives because of a minority report!

We have protection, if we weren't going to be protected from this, we wouldn't of had this vaccine, so let us out of this unfair situation, we want to live, this is not living this is becoming suspicious now.

You said we had protection, we wont die, it is 100% safe and stops us getting sick, so open the god dam gates to this prison!

      • weka 2.3.1

if we got the vaccine, because you only get those things from covid 19. , so we are all protected so we should be allowed to go and do anything we want, we have complete protection just like our govt said to us pre vaccine. Jacinda said its 100% safe and effective to stop us from getting covid 19, we did the right thing for ourselves so let us out Jacinda?

We cant get sick, we wont die so why do we have to protect the unprotected,

this is not actually true. The vaccine isn't 100% effective, and it has a limited time span for efficacy, we just don't know how long that is exactly yet. New variants will develop and the current vaccine will probably not be as effective.

This is not like a measles vaccine where you get one and are immune for life.

This is why we need as many people vaccinated as possible, and we will still need to prevent covid as much as possible in the unvaccinated population (that and the issue of health system overrun).

People who are vaccinated are less likely to get covid, and less likely to die if they do. Not sure if they are less likely to get long covid (probably).

We will need border control, hygiene, distancing, and imo lockdowns over a longer period of time than just the next few months. We should be adapting to this reality now.

      • Sacha 2.3.2

it is obvious the unprotected do not wish to have it

You may be getting too much of your information from facebook or talkback radio.

      • miravox 2.3.3

so why do we have to protect the unprotected?

Because the unprotected are mostly children. Delta spreads most easily among kids.

Also the vaccine doesn't work quite so well for people who are immune-suppressed. You're happy to put them at greater risk?

Because the impact of long covid is not clear yet

Because our hospitals can't handle the number of people who get infected even at the rate of vaccination we have now if we relax restrictions any more at this time.

  3. Patricia Bremner 4

Police have located the woman. No more yet. Possibly tomorrow xx (Sorry Jester you beat me )

  4. Tricledrown 5

Brash's claims not looking good either as if the right needed anymore disasters ! Seymour and Brash biggest pillocks.Collins might get a bounce if she gets some time to criticise their stupidity. She could run Goldsmith in Epsom.
