    Arthritis/tomatoes/apples update:

Had a chat with my pot doctor today… about the above…

And he was a fount of information ..

The villain of the piece is pectin..and he confirmed it is in both suspects..

..but..if you blanch tomatoes/remove the skin…and scoop out all the seeds ..(the stuff around the seeds is sodden with the stuff)

    You'll be sweet..

And as for the apples..it is in the skin..

So I figure that with organic and peeled…I will be able again to have tomatoes and apples ..

    Colour me a happy camper…

It's great that eliminating tomatoes and apples from your diet reduced your arthritis symptoms, so you can always go back to that if cutting out the pectin doesn't work.

Your pot doctor's advice just goes to show that everyone is different – some swear by adding pectin to their diet to reduce arthritis symptoms – inflammation is a tricky beast.

Powdered pectin solution to ease arthritis pain [21 June 2023]

We received this letter 25 years ago regarding arthritis remedies: “My wife and I tried your golden raisins and gin for arthritis, and we were unimpressed. We have discovered something else, though, that seems to work for us. Take 2 teaspoons of Certo dissolved in 3 ounces of grape juice. Do this three times a day. We have been told to cut back to 1 teaspoon Certo in grape juice twice a day after the joints quit aching.

Certo is liquid plant pectin. We appreciate your experiment with powdered pectin. It is sold in the canning section of the supermarket to thicken homemade jams and jellies. The powder does not dissolve easily in cold liquid. Your solution takes care of that problem.

If you are getting relief from pectin in your coffee and bedtime water, you may not need juice, though both grape and cherry juice have anti-inflammatory activity (Mini Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, Jan. 25, 2023). CocoaVia supplies cocoa flavonols. Controlled trials show that these compounds promote cardiovascular health (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, June 2022).

And, consistent with claims that urine is an inexpensive cure-all, including COVID, it's been used as a folk therapee for arthritis – that one's for free! Let’s be careful out there.

Pectin is found in most fruit and vegetables, particularly citrus.

It is the setting agent in jam.

I'm betting Trump directs the US airforce to drop the bunker buster bombs against the underground Iranian nuclear facilities.

They smell regime decapitation even if it's not total.

No country is reaching in to help Iran – beyond thoughts and prayers.

The question soon is how much more control the Revolutionary Guards take. After that, the coherent state starts to splinter.

    • Muttonbird 2.1

Who delivers those weapons? Are US bombs easily transferred to Israeli aircraft to be able to pretend the US didn't get involved, or is it more difficult than that?

The costs of the corrupt invasion of Iraq are still being counted. Deaths between 1M and I've seen 2.3M knock on effect. There are 4.4M internally displaced and 2.3M refugees.

This is what those paragons of considered intelligence and restraint Trump and Netanyahu consider acceptable while waging an hegemonic campaign of expansion, terror and destruction.

      • Anne 2.1.1

I remember the 'Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs for short) during the war with Iraq which we later learnt didn't exist. Can't help but wonder if the… 'Iran is close to producing nuclear weapons' is a repeat performance?

        • Muttonbird 2.1.1.1

Absolutely it is. It the foundation of the Israel-US axis campaign to destroy another nation and expand its influence and territory.

It's about spreading their own ethno-religious beliefs and extinguishing those of others, in their own back yard.

What is Iraq now? Forgotten, broken, silent, anonymous. This is what the power brokers in the west want to repeat on yet another people who they feel superior to.

            AI Overview

In 2024, Iraq had a higher GDP per capita than Iran. Specifically, Iraq's GDP per capita was $6,248, while Iran's was $4,633.

GDP per capita is a measure of the economic output of a country per person. It is calculated by dividing a country's GDP by its total population.

Iraq was well known when at war with Iran and then invading Kuwait.

            • SPC 2.1.1.1.1.1

and for trying to get nuclear weapons.

            • Muttonbird 2.1.1.1.1.2

What economic sanctions are in place on Iraq right now that are not on Iran? What economic sanctions are in place on Iran right now that are not on Iraq?

And, in your opinion, are 2M Iraqi dead a reasonable cost for a 35% superior GDP per capita over 22 years?

              • SPC

What is Iraq now? Forgotten, broken, silent, anonymous

You have not forgotten about Iraq. It's wealthier than Iran per capita. In what way silent and anonymous? Not involved in regional conflict?

                You made the nonsense claim.

                • Muttonbird

You're saying Iraq's supposed increase wealth is due to regime decapitation and welcome the next country's people's heads on the block. Iraq's cleansing at the hands of the US was at the cost of 2M lives and a fairly specific loss of nationhood, something which Israel alone is allowed to develop in the region. Certainly not Palestine.

                  • SPC

                    No.

I would have thought it obvious, to those debating the issue in a straight forward way, to note that those nations that are not involved conflict do better than those that are.

                    • Muttonbird

Victim blaming Palestine is a curious strategy. Let's see how that goes.

That's it though for the conservative Judeo/Christian colonising west:

Abandon your proud histories, render your culture in a way which we simpletons can access and understand, make available to us your lands and resources, do not challenge us, and we will try not shoot you in the street and ration your food.

                    • SPC

Your post is in response to mine? Really?

Are you inviting a critique of the Arab response to the UN decision in 1947, when they rejected a two state outcome?

The list of countries MFAT advises us to not travel to says this about the Iraq you have held up as the way forward for Iran:

                      Overview

The volatile security situation is a significant risk for New Zealanders in Iraq. There are active terrorist groups who may target areas where foreigners are.

Violent crime, kidnapping and corruption are common, as are organised criminal groups, militia and violent tribal groups.

If you travel to Iraq, you are strongly encouraged to consult a reputable security company (with experience in Iraq) for advice on security arrangements. Review these arrangements regularly. This may mitigate the risks to your safety but cannot eliminate them entirely.

You should also have a plan for how to depart if the security situation gets worse. The New Zealand government will not be arranging an evacuation for New Zealand citizens, should commercial options for departure cease. Read our advice for areas of conflict or violence.

Avoid areas of military activity at all times, including border areas. Follow restrictions imposed by the local authorities and seek local advice on any changes to curfews. Use caution at checkpoints. A uniform is not a guarantee that the wearer is acting in an official capacity.

Be highly security conscious at all times, particularly in public places when travelling by road and close to government offices.

20 years and 2M deaths after regime change, but GDP up a whopping 35% on Iran, these are the internal realities in modern day Iraq. Sounds like nirvana, the west did a great job, didn't they?

I read the US intelligence reckon Iran haven't had that capacity for over 10, years.

Its likely the old 'WMD' play again.

Yep, pretty easy, just need the Codes & possibly swap out/in a few data cards in the black boxes.

Donald Trump has denied that he left a G7 leaders summit in Canada early to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran in a social media post in which he also derided Emmanuel Macron as “publicity seeking”….

"Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a “cease fire” between Israel and Iran. Wrong!
He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong"

    My reckon:

The reason he left early was because he didn't want to share the kudos for arranging a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran with the G7 leaders. He wants to be the big boss of the world and get all the attention for himself. He has the emotional IQ of a five year old!

As an autistic person, I was horrified with the story. I had severe issues through puberty and into early adulthood.

I’m only here today because my parents had the resources to pay for private psychiatric treatment.

For some reason the high school councillors determined that my issues had nothing to do with autism, apparently I was gay, not autistic. tThe self taught councillors decided to undermine the advice of my psychiatrist and psychologist, and placed me on a collision course with my parents and family.
