Except that the libertarian capitalist can and here does co-exist with Snowden, Wiki-Leaks, Greenwald who with free media (supposedly) hold power to account (the imperial deep state and associated authoritarian nation states), and thus there is here common cause with some on the left.
Some libertarian capitalists (which is a bit of a contradiction in terms), have contributed to worthy causes on occasions. But that doesn’t mean they are the kind of people to further left wing causes if they had political power – totally the opposite.
And this can especially be seen in KDC offering support to JLR – a guy who is very happy for money to buy political influence, and who is racist in his approach to talking about some of the Nats supporters, and is also a bit of a misogynist.
It looks to me that JLR has been getting some PR coaching in the last couple of days. He’s probably been told to tone down the arrogance, and admit to affairs – so the apologies to wife, etc today.
But he hasn’t really said anything much more of substance, except that he isn’t yet resigning from parliament – and he’s still trying to damage more Nats – wanting to name names, etc. The recording he’s released doesn’t say much, and has been pretty carefully edited – we haven’t been given the full conversation.
But it is highly likely that behind JLR is the Lusk faction whose aim is to replace the balance of power in the Nats’ caucus, with those more supportive of a far right leader.
I see reports on twitter that in the last couple of days WO has been promoting Collins as the solution to the Nats current problems. And some suspect Lusk has penned some of these posts.
It’s a mistake to start cheering the likes of JLR and KDC because it looks like they’ve given some nasty Nats a bloody nose.

“Foreman allegedly refused entry into building site for being female
A female foreman was allegedly denied entry to the building site she worked at, solely on the grounds of being a female.
The incident allegedly happened at the construction site for a new school in Northland, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Tonga o Hokianga.
An engineer, also female, who worked on the project during its design phase, contacted the Herald after she was told the female foreman had been denied access.
She provided the Herald with a screenshot of the minutes of a meeting where the issue had been raised.
“PM noted the MOE [Ministry of Education] had contacted the complainant who arrived on-site to discuss the kura’s request that no women are permitted on site,” the meeting minutes said.

I know this is a terrible time for the families of these people, and for DOC, and for the NZ environment but is it usual for police to come out so quickly with a statement that nothing suggests foul play?
I’m not saying there was foul play but there’s nothing left of that machine and I’m wondering how a country police superintendent knows enough about aviation disasters to rule out foul play so early.
Wouldn’t CAA inspectors be better positioned to do that?

Yes. My thoughts exactly. At PR the constabulary appeared to be there to represent ‘ultimate authority’ . Which is perceived by some to have been running a reputation protection operation/cover up.

As to Police, (Supt Basham), response “ruling out foul play” … the actual quote may put a different light on things…?
