About the Turkish invasion of Syria,

      From your link:

The arrival of YPG reinforcements (from eastern Syria) was only possible thanks to the support of Damascus, which allowed them to transit through the Loyalist zones.

      February 11th: Reuters reported that:

While the Kurds depend on Assad to reach Afrin, Kurdish sources say they also enjoy leverage over Damascus because it needs their cooperation to source grain and oil from areas of the northeast under Kurdish control.

For better or worse, the Kurds have powerful allies…

      • adam 1.1.1

Did you miss the bit, by allowing the Kurds through loyalist areas, is a win for Damascus, as they are doing very little.

Or that Turkey invaded Syria? That this was said

“A commander in the military alliance fighting in support of Assad said “the Kurds have no option but coordination with the regime” to defend Afrin.

“The Syrian regime is helping the Kurds with humanitarian support and some logistics, like turning a blind eye and allowing Kurdish support to reach some fronts,” said the commander, who spoke on condition of anonymity.”

Your powerful allies thing would be more relevant if USA fighter jets were still supporting the Kurds in their fight. They ‘ain’t.

So overall I’m a bit confused why you think the Kurds are reliant on the USA, as their powerful allies. Got somthing else with a bit more information on it, I’d be happy to read it.

Will Labour do that? no, they won’t, so the little children will continue to suffer.

        And thats only your opinion.

And unlike the National party wankers you worship ( geez , they sweat and fart and burp like the rest of us – and smell worse because of all the rich foods they dine on ) at least the Labour / Greens / NZ First buggers listen to what caused the National party to take a permanent dive and take moves to avoid the same fate…

Better than living in a tent , wanker.

Oh hang on , a tent doesn’t have mold problems. Unlike the shit moldy home/ homelessness legacy of the con man John Key . Nor do you pay much – if anything – in the way of rent in a tent .

And anyways , shithat , – whats that got to do with anything? – are you so proud of your financial bearings you feel qualified to weigh in on someones economic status or political opinion , idiot?

Do you pay your workers a LIVING WAGE ya miserable tick?

And do you measure political opinion by ones status in life, shithat?

And you STILL haven’t said a single thing that addresses what so many here in New Zealand are concerned about – the massacre of innocent children and teenagers in a country that we not only are part of the 5 eyes spy network off, – but that we are supposed to take a lead from by jerks such as the sort of deflective, ignorant and malignant wankers like yourself.

And you ARE a malignant wanker, mate.

                    Fuck off back to America.

              No. Please dont ban.

We need shithats like Andre and BM to highlight and illustrate the vicious , shittyness of the neo liberal, free market mentality.

And though they may be bit players on the social media networks, … they perform a vital function.

We have just witnessed them both advocating current gun laws in the USA and , – ( notice they said nothing to incriminate themselves in their opinions , leaving it open … ) – by their silence in answering, … the REAL reasons why children and teenagers are being massacred.

And here is the incriminating documentation showing the duplicity by the American far right wing in full force.

Florida school shooting: NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch grilled by …
              http://www.nzherald.co.nz › World

Even the Sheriff of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said …

              ——————————————————–

“I understand you’re standing up for the NRA and I understand that’s what you’re supposed to do,” he said. “But you just told this group of people that you are standing up for them. You’re not standing up for them until you say: ‘I want less weapons.'”

The crowd responded with a standing ovation.

Sheriff Israel said stricter gun control needed to be introduced.”Eighteen-year-olds should never have a rifle,” he began, referring to shooter Nikolas Cruz.

“An 18-year-old kid – they’re not adults yet. They’re in high school. These kids should not have a rifle.”

The legal age to buy a gun under federal US law is 18. The minimum age to buy alcohol is 21.

              ———————————————————

And if the law enforcement in the USA that has to deal with this shit ( and all the countless other firearms related crimes ) says this I believe them. Far more than I would BM or the other apologist , – Andre.

I do not believe that in disarming a population of military grade weapons means making them vulnerable to political takeover by malevolent political forces. I do believe there are first and other options to depose that malevolent political force, – and if that fails, – working with Military / Police that are sympathetic , – as well as force of arms if necessary , – can ward off those predisposed towards anti democratic government.

But that is a far cry from some unhinged nutter blowing the face off a five year old kiddie because of lax firearms laws and regulations and the sort of spurious justifications that the NRA currently tries to use as a defense.

              • Oh , and btw ?…

I believe George Soros is an evil one world government fucker.

And keeping firearms laws lax only encourages such massacres. Thus it is that the public outcry is to enact tougher firearms laws… which plays straight into the hands of the ‘disarm the public, make them docile’ brigade…

But we are talking the USA. formed by a people who by very nature , are wary of overbearing government interference… its in their Constitution…

  3. Heres something of interest ,…

    https://lamarzulli.wordpress.com/

Has a wee bit about gun control . Personally ,.. I think the USA should adopt NZ’s approach , we are more heavily armed per capita than the USA , … yet to date , … we haven’t suffered the insanity that they do… so why?

So I dont always agree with what I read, – though I reckon L A Marzulli is right on the money about Nephilim, Fallen Angels, the Biblical narrative, Giants in those days , and the entire BS children get taught in schools about the failed theory of evolution.

Is it because in this area at least ,… we have managed to keep a lid on things and keep it balanced?

Or is it because we dont allow civilians semi / automatic rifles and / or with large magazines , … or because we have laws about pistols that can only be used ( and stored ) at legitimate gun clubs safes ?

Or the fact that rifles must be stored in Police approved safes separate from the ammunition and the firing bolts at a personal place of residence ?

Or is it because we have laws that prohibit using firearms as a direct personal protection mechanism? Or that the hours of darkness are different from the hours of daylight in the eyes of the law ?

Or that the age, disabilities of the victims are taken into account ie: an 85 year old defending themselves against prowlers at 3 am with malevolent intent who clearly are in fear of their lives in a remote rural property hours from Police protection ?

Yeah America can go get fucked.

Their NRA have clearly distorted the 2nd Amendment from its original purposes. They no longer live in a fledgling democracy where they feared a totalitarian regime like the Monarchy’s they fled from in Europe . The American Wild West died 100 years ago. The Great Sioux War is over. The Native Americans are subdued and live in poverty on shitty reservations.

There’s nothing to fear ya pricks.

    Pity.

You’ve robbed, murdered , subdued and stolen off all opposition and now your very own children turn on you for all your hideous , out – of – control generational crimes.

And the only reason the fucking NRA continue to obliquely defend these massacres is because of the fucking arms dealers and munitions factory’s who make fucking billions out of the trade globally supplying murderous bastards in foreign lands that America has vested interest in that are in turn endorsed by American Big Fucking Business !!

The same bastards that provide millions in donations to either the Republicans or Democrats!!!

Fucking Wankers ! – Go get Fucked !!!

I wanna be a Fuckin Builder when I grow up !!!

Not a sparky or a plumber – they can all get fucked !!!

    • BM 3.1

No more wine for you fella, you’re getting all grumpy and melancholic

    • Andre 3.2

New Zealand has just over 0.2 guns per person. USA has approximately 0.9 guns per person. The USA is approximately 4x more heavily armed per capita than New Zealand is.

      https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/2/21/17028930/gun-violence-us-statistics-charts

      • WILD KATIPO 3.2.1

And that doesn’t change a thing even if the stats ( whose stats again and who do they draw a pay cheque from ? ) are correct.

Here in NZ we use firearms for one of three things :

        1) Hunting

        2) Police/ Military

        3) Sports.

We DON’T use em for personal protection , we DO put a cap on the magazines, we DON’T allow civilian use of semi / automatic weapons. In fact , – if your such a shit shot that you cant take your deer down with a 6 shot magazine , – its back to the rifle club for practice for you , wanker !

And don’t think you can wander down the bloody streets after purchasing your gleaming new 6 shot Remington pistol and think your the man , either. It aint gonna happen in NZ , bud .

As for purchasing a bloody Bazooka or rocket launcher or some other idiot weapon in NZ – EVEN for legitimate civilian use on a certified rifle club range – your fresh out of luck , sunshine.

We dont allow that sort of idiot shit around here.

So the root causes to Americas problems of mass shootings and massacres are obvious – the wanker fuckfaces who have vested political / financial interests in not overturning current practice.

Throw another 5 year old to the altar of Mammon ya bastards.

  4. Grey Area 4

Am I missing something with the current cultural respect issue or does it only seem to work one way?

If I visited Iran I would expect to follow their kaupapa. If it was inappropriate to greet a woman by shaking their hand I would not do it.

But when they come here we still have to follow theirs? It is our practice for handshakes to be exchanged if people are not well enough acquainted for a kiss on the cheek. Or in other settings a hongi.

    I’m confused.

    • Obtrectator 4.1

As I’ve always understood it, in Anglo-Saxon societies (can’t speak for other Europeans, let alone Maori or Pasifika), it’s up to the woman whether a handshake occurs. It’s not considered rude for her not to offer one, and quite a few don’t.

So: if you’re the man, wait and see – if she sticks out her hand, take it (but don’t grip too hard). If she doesn’t, then that’s that.

      • WILD KATIPO 4.1.1

        Well , I dunno about that , mate…

I’ve crunched a few feminine hands and apologized afterwards for it… and I didn’t give a fuck about culture,… just about whether Id applied too much pressure,… being a working class lad and what not,…

I reckon we owe a lot to these old folks, and sometimes… when you’ve been working pouring concrete in the heat all day … you’ve got to learn to tone it back a bit. And that’s not easy when when you’ve had countless wars with neo liberal pen pushing bastards who you just want to slap .

I’ll shake hands with any bastard. Female or Male. I don’t give a shit.

If they are a nice bastard and the crinkles of their eyes light up , – they get the tick of approval. If their trying to hide something and speaking in double talk they can go and get fucked. Its that simple.

        Doesn’t matter who it is.

Body language is 90% communication and generally doesn’t lie.

Its time for the honest bastards of the world to speak up.

      • greywarshark 4.1.2

Does the control on touching a female as in some Muslim societies (can’t dance, or hold hands or be in a place without a chaperone, quite rigid rules), apply in Iran? This would go beyond just fitting into whatever country you happen to be in.

        • WILD KATIPO 4.1.2.1

When I did a diploma in Science and Technology @ Waikato Polytechnic there was a Muslim lady from Somalia… she was delightful , yet guarded. I, being the inquisitive bloke that I am ,… was intrigued.. the English tutor ( who was in her 60’s , encouraged her … ) …

It turned out , that … due to the chauvinistic and patriarchal nature of the Somalian male slobs who ruled over her,… that after tech ,… she had to cook for the family , put the children to bed, and generally tidy up when she got home.

          She was continually exhausted.

She was wonderfully humble, an apt student , and a very lovely young lady… but here she was… subjected to these archaic medieval type oafs … and I was baffled by such cultural loyalties… she was timid to speak to me and I was dumbfounded being of Western heritage…

I was appalled at the waste of human potential.

Take from that what you will,… all I knew was that a potentially brilliant achiever was being sidelined by insecure , bitter men who felt threatened by the potential earning power and independence of a young lady …

I will never forget her , … all I remember is that it was all so wrong and unjust…

And that she was a real cool young woman that could have achieved so very much more, … . That was being mistreated for cultural / political reasons. And that it sucked bloody big time.

          • Obtrectator 4.1.2.1.1

Ha! We might have been a wee bit at cross-purposes over handshakes, W Kat, but I’m with you all the way on this one. It’s a wonder those buggers let her out to study anything, at all.

    • Antoine 4.2

The Iranians have the right not to shake hands with a woman, and we have the right to mock them about it

    • Daveosaurus 4.3

I hope all the people who are so severely bent out of shape by an Iranian being an arse about handshaking were similarly bent out out of shape by Boris Johnson being an arse about the hongi a while back. After all, it’s only the second of these traditions that actually belongs to this country, rather than being just another affectation of a bunch of immigrants…
