Introducing the Standard Week

We know that if you miss a couple of days of The Standard you can have 15 posts to read. Even though we try to keep posts pithy, it can be too much to catch up on.

So, we’re happy to introduce the Standard Week. On Fridays, we’ll do a Standard Week post linking to the five or so top posts of the week (by number of comments or subjective awesome-ness) so you can catch up on any you’ve missed. We’ll also email the Standard Week to anyone who wants to receive it.

Just flick us an email at thestandardnz@gmail.com to go on the Standardista list. On becoming a Standardista, you will receive your Standardista cloth cap, ‘how-to’ guide for living a PC life, class consciousness, and Notional Party yo-yo that swings from the right to the centre and back again every three years.*

Foreign media owners slash journo numbers, again

This is the problem with having our print media owned by two foreign multi-nationals. They’re not in it to produce quality journalism, they’re in it for profits  [more]

‘pretty similar’

I signed up to Kiwisaver based on the 4% employer contribution being rolled out. If National caps that at 1% then I’m out of pocket by about $75,000 in contributions alone… [more]

*you won’t really receive these things, except the class consciousness.
