There is a second intriguing democratic event in the world this week, the vote by the Scottish on whether Scotland should become independent. For me if I was Scottish I would be tempted to vote yes. The promise of living in a liberal bastion would probably be too much for me, even though Scottish Independence may consign the British Labour Party to eternal opposition as well as throwing the United Kingdom into turmoil.
