     Really a great site, IMHO well presented and with some good ideas on presentation.

     Pity its so badly let down on subject matter.

     Do the owners really think NZ needs another left wing propaganda outlet? I went there last night and thought, wow this looks good, and then I saw the contributors were Nicky Hagar, Keith Locke and Paul Buchanan.

     Then I saw the first couple of comments were by some pathetic loser called Phil Ure, who presumes to a political expertise and wisdom that is belied by his own derelict circumstance.

     Really, if there is one thing NZ doesn’t need its another boilerplate left wing site. Haven’t its owners noticed that the most successful broadcasters in the US are Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, etc and FOX News. None of them seek to shove any tired old left wing poop down people’s throats.

     The broad population don’t want left wing cant. Even existing LW blogs have small audiences compared to WhaleOil and Kiwiblog.

     Its a shame to see the impressive technical expertise and innovation of the Evening Report squandered on content that is already over catered for and that very few people overall will want.

       Don’t let facts or trends get in your way..

       Kiwiblog has been going for about 5 years longer than us and built up its audience slowly. However it has been static for a while now and started dropping compared to previous years. Feb 2014 had 702620 page views, a year later it is 541919. In the same months we rose from 316531 to 417128.

       This shift in growth from right to left has been a consistent pattern for some time. Our post election growth spurt appears to have been somewhere between 20 and 30%. Kiwiblog appears to have had a similar percentage drop.

       But for a good solid comparison in a high readership month have a look at the pageviews from election month last year. KB had 1093806 page views. However we had 868342. Looks like the audiences aren’t that different any more.

       And Whaleoil’s stats are just a joke. I presume that he has simply paid some outfit to push them up. If you look back in the stats it isn’t hard to see when they were hired. Over several months his stats rose from having about 300k page views per month to over a million. Since then it has steadily increased, presumably so he can fleece advertisers.

       Or possibly as a substitute for a good sized codpiece.. You do have to wonder about people who are that insecure. What exactly are they trying to substitute for? 😈

       

       BTW: I ignore “Visits” as the numbers for those between sitemeter, statcounter, and google analytics vary by about 50% for the same period and settings on our site. They also don’t account for the users who sit on the site for more than 1800 seconds browsing in a session. Don’t know why Ken bothers with visits.

           Yes. Over the decades I have noticed this kind of thing shifting and moving around in response to the outside world and the changes in society.

           But at present we seem to be having a shift in NZ away from what you refer as the “left John Key” to the even lefter position that I tend to hold and the further left position of the commenters of this site. This is reflected in the waxing and waning of blog sites.

   Hopefully each site will work to it’s own strengths, and a sense of increased cohesion left of centre, can galvanise all of us who can see straight through the lies and manipulation of Team Key and cronies.
   To fall for the “divide and rule” tactics would be dissapointing.

   Journalism and principles not to mention public interest. Those terms are normally oil and water when it comes to journalism as its typically practiced in this country.

   Great news, I hope the site does well and lives up to its stated mandate.

   Great news to have another alternative news site available to us 🙂 The more we have, the better. Good one Selwyn and Evening Report.

   However, I’m having trouble registering on it. Won’t accept password, (or passwords) despite it being given by the registration site! I’ve been trying to get in for ages, I keep getting locked out now!

   I’d be grateful for any suggestions folks … please. Thanks.
