   John Key has blood on his hands. Suicide amongst youth is higher than the old.
   The shameful way NZ society pushes the young to either leave NZ to make their
   forture is central. Not everyone is going to be as wealthy as Key, or as an
   accomplished liar. Is it no wonder that young people who can’t face becoming
   lying deceitful shits, or leave the country of their birth, kill themselves?
   A life of low pay, no chance of owning a home, gaming the system like
   some bum bludger.

   John Key calls us racists because some of the investers are foriegn!
   Wait a second some are kiwis living overseas are investors! Some are
   foriegners living in NZ! What’s the hell John on about doesn’t he know
   anyone can invest.

   Its is the height conceit for the PM to say he has no responsibility for the
   horrendous effects the policys of the government of NZ have on outcomes
   for its people, as we are continuing to become ever more dependant on
   foriegn credit. And Key cannot lie about this he is after all the primo
   currency speculator.

   Peak oil, the US military warns oil output may dip causing massive shortages by 2015, peak oil alarm revealed by secret official talks and now a leaked study by a German military think tank has analyzed how “peak oil” might change the global economy. Part two of the Der Spiegel article warns of a litany of market failures.

   The authors paint a bleak picture of the consequences resulting from a shortage of petroleum. As the transportation of goods depends on crude oil, international trade could be subject to colossal tax hikes. “Shortages in the supply of vital goods could arise” as a result, for example in food supplies. Oil is used directly or indirectly in the production of 95 percent of all industrial goods. Price shocks could therefore be seen in almost any industry and throughout all stages of the industrial supply chain. “In the medium term the global economic system and every market-oriented national economy would collapse.”

     As I’ve said before, NZ will be one of the first places to be without oil imports. This will throw us back on our own resources and those resources are going to have to be renewable. This means that we will be controlling population and, after a time, closing our borders. We won’t have any choice. Foreign “investors” are going to have to be told to eff off because we won’t be able to support them as well as our own population and we won’t be able to support capitalists either.

       Which is why Draco that we need to get those trains rolling and to have an initial oil reserve for agricultural purposes…feeding the people and moving it should take precedence. Its something the market cant foresee and plan for.

         Agreed. We need to do a few things to stem the increase in consumption (note consumption is still increasing).

         1. We need to stop building motorways. Every new motorway only persuades more people to drive.
         2. We need to complete the Britomart tunnell and complete electrification of Auckland’s rail system.
         3. We need to build turbines and more turbines and tide generators to provide power for the rail system and stop the burning of diesel for power.
         4. We need brave political leadership to outline the current situation to the population and try and bring everyone with them.

         I am not holding my breath …

           No, neither am I holding my breath. What I have done apart from driving people mad with Cassandra blogs is to teach a few people the fine old art of vege gardening, and encouraged “guerilla” plantings of edibles on public spaces. Every little may help to feed us.

           I would love to see them shut down one lane on every motorway system for car pooling, motorcycles and single seat vehicles only.

           Watch then as people actually purchase vehicles that are appropriate to their needs vs those that are nothing more than status symbols.

   joe90 I looked at that Der Spiegel link above which you mentioned yesterday. Worrying, and though draft stats don’t have to be exact as it presents very reasoned analysis.

   Next trouble to keep our psoriasis active – a scientist says we are running low on helium which has numerous uses. Something coming on Radionz 9tonoon soon.

   And why is Michael Cullen bringing up the republic thing at this time. Seems like a bad strategic move. Labour needs to concentrate on the matters of the day of which there are many. Another matter just diverts away from them.

   Getting irresponsible, incompetent and ideologically right Presidents who are good with a quip but treat those out of favour with a whip should be carefully approached with a taser ready. We tried with MMP to govern the country better and it was hard to get through and a big step and the right are trying to either undermine it or overthrow it. Loosen our grip on what we have and let in republicanism and who knows what creepy measures and megalomaniacs will emerge from the cracks in the wall.

     I seem to recall grant visiting these types of places in the States…(am I right or was it somebody else)? All I can say is that this type of dehumanising experience is only going to create homicidal zombies. If we go this way in NZ I shall make a point of ensuring the inmates have the names and addresses of Garth and his mates handed to them on their release as the first place to find work.

   Interesting poll in the NZH. It shows that nearly half the people don’t actually know who the local representatives are that we’re supposed to be voting for. Which would indicate that our politics are just as irrational as our economics.

      Saw this on the NYTimes today, fekkin amazin, such a “safe” industry. When the oil slick hits Tolaga Bay I will have a sort of deja vu feeling. Might just have to go around to Jerrys place and lay an oil slick.

    This year’s Sir Douglas Robb Lectures at the University of Auckland will be given by Lord Nicholas Stern – the author of the Stern report on climate change. The lectures are on 8-10 September (i.e. next Wed to Fri) and are free, but registration is required:

    The site will be running a little slow tonight. Because of the name change (dropping www as part of the multisite upgrade), the site will be picked over bigtime by the search engines. So I picked tonight (traditionally one of the slower timespots) to put the SEO packages back on line.

    The bots are going pretty crazy…

    Plus I did the server updates and the first reboot for 88 days….

    Garth Mcvicar is the most hated and disliked hate and revenge monger in NZ.
    Mcvicars SST members only consist of the hell bent hate for revenge victims and some of their families, nothing more.
    They try and drag NZ down and say it’s a crime society and not safe, they are in dream land as Rawanda’s recently had 800.000 people murdered over 100 days while Mcvicar was worrying about a single murderer from 18 years ago that served his time and gone straight but Mcvicar still wants his blood and harasses his wife and children with lynch mobs.
    We got over the Nazis for killing millions especially the concentration camps with women and children and now Germans are NZ good friends and tourist.
    There are thousands of children and women starving to death each day let alone the diseases they die from but Mcvicar gives not one thought, instead drags NZ into his festering hole of hate and revenge from the past we are sick of hearing about year after year.
    One must remember that Mcvicar when stalking offenders he stalks their wife’s, children’s and brothers and sisters with constant memories and trying to shame them all.
    Then there are the victims Mcvicar preys on, reminding them over and over and over of their traumas with hate and revenge disturbing not only the victims but their family members who have to live with them like the same as the offender’s family members.
    No one likes Mcvicar and any one with half a brain is on to him but the Media propaganda this idiot over and over again with the same dirt ball message.
    Nz must be hard up for news.
    NZ the safest place in the world and Mcvicar wants to arm liquor store with guns and the right to slaughter 15 year old graffiti writers.
    Mcvicar wants the death penalty for dealing marijuana, as he said tear a leaf from the Singapore law book, just after hanging the young Australian while his mother waited outside.
    As the Australian was swinging by the neck ,Garth Mcvicar was rubbing his hands and smiling.
