Dutton's inexplicable failure to campaign on the basis of Australia first contrasts with a winner putting Romania first:

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has resigned and his Social Democrat party is to leave the government after a right-wing nationalist candidate won the first round of the presidential election.

George Simion, a eurosceptic who has promised to put Romania first, won 40.9% of Sunday's vote and is expected to win a run-off vote on 18 May. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cj3xk8prxy8o

The ideology is simple: every country should come first. It's in accord with contemporary education philosophy, which puts every child into the category of winner whenever there's a contest. Of course it defies common sense, but who cares?

Morality must prevail. Globalising culture on the basis that all nations are winners will be the perfect convergence between left and right in politics. So perfect that it could even cause the end of politics: Fukuyama take note! Winston got the ball rolling with NZ first, Trump followed with America first, and Romania has now created a triad to establish the common pattern as contagion. All the left need do is declare solidarity on the principle that each nation must come first to establish perfect equity in geopolitics. Accord between left and right will go global, and utopia will break out in all directions.

The government is making it harder to make a claim for pay equity that will cut costs, saying the current system is too loose.

"There have been massive pay equity claims in recent years for nurses and resthome workers.

Workplace Minister Brooke van Velden announced the moves to raise the threshold for proving work has been historically undervalued to support a claim, on Tuesday saying changes back in 2020 had created problems."

Might be time to start talking about a General Strike.

Regards a General Strike I'm in.

There was a korero yesty about compulsory voting. I'm ambivalent about that.

If we were to compel anything I would suggest union membership.

The way this government (and the last, Little conflating figures undermining Nurses negotiations) has been behaving during negotiations us despicable.

Luxon telling lies about what nurses get paid. Brown telling lies about Doctors renumeration. van Velden moving the goal posts in the pay equity area.

All while they still owe hundreds of thousands of dollars in holiday pay to nurses.

And what is the legal push back we have? Anger on Facebook?

A lawful response is for workers to express their solidarity and push back.

        Tautoko.

Unions are about as direct as democracy can get, more than a ballot box, bring back compulsory union membership.

Fun to see the Attorney General launch an investigation into school lunch procurement.

The Secretary of Education is going to get minced between the Minister and Associate Minister and their separate demands and all the politics that ensued.

Don't envy the procurement team at MoE.

Fuck me! My school has had kids in the library for over 5 years. Also 5 Year 8 classes in the senior English Block. Our much promised new block got to the point of geotechnical work being done. Cancelled by this government. Heaven knows where the kids will end up with all the local roll growth.
