    Gosman! Whats happening?

Even Guaido's mates don't like him any more. Interesting to see how those countries that recognise his 'legitimacy' now react.

They must be fuming in Washington 🙂

Hard to tell: "there was also criticism from Argentina’s new left-wing government. “Forcibly preventing the functioning of the national assembly means condemning oneself to international isolation,” tweeted its new foreign minister, Felipe Solá."

Leftists complaining about the elimination of democracy is unusual, eh? "there were scenes of chaos and confusion as security forces and riot troops blocked opposition lawmakers and journalists from entering the parliament building in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jan/05/venezuela-nicolas-maduro-parliamentary-coup-juan-guaido

Maduro figured he could get a stooge elected to prevent Guaido's re-election if he stopped the opposition from entering the building. Sort of like stalinism 1.01 for kindergarten kiddies…

That will be a response to Iran's threat of retaliation. They will be fearful of another 9/11 type situation.

South Korea has declared a state of emergency in five cities on the eastern coast after wildfires ripped through the region, leaving one person dead, 35 injured and forcing at least 4,800 people to evacuate their homes.

More than 17,000 firefighters – including military personnel using helicopters – have been deployed to fight the blazes, which the local government in the city of Goseong described as an “unprecedented disaster.”

      Census 2001 to 2013:

      No religion +59% (1,635,345)

      Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist all minus15-23%

      Catholic +1% (492,000)

      Pentecostal +11% (74,000)

Seems as though Pentecostal is offering something I guess. I prefer science.

    • millsy 11.3

Quite frankly, Pentecostal Evangalicals (or any other type of christian, muslim, or even jew) are unfit for public office, each and every day I am getting more and more turned off by faith and the people who suscribe to it.

We need a good dose of anti-clericalism and militant atheism, to clean out all the crap. Like Spain and Mexico in the 1930's and the USSR in the 1920's. I dont advocate executing preists and nuns, of course, but perhaps giving them a bit of humility once in a while.

Bring back the League of Militant Atheists!

Some of the people from whom I have tried to learn much about not being a dick (my failure is not their fault) have been quite religious.

Latest HuffPost/YouGov poll of US citizens checks out approval of Trump's assassination directive: https://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/athena/files/2020/01/06/5e132ad9c5b6b5a713bddb44.pdf

Scan down to #6, approval comes in at 43%, disapproval 38%, margin of error 3.4%. There's also appraisal of 2020 presidential election candidates. See #15: "Which of these candidates, if any, do you trust to handle issues relating to Iran? Select all that apply"

The big winner: None of them, at 47%. Also ran were Biden 28%, Sanders 22%, Warren 19%. Looking good for the Donald…

    • Macro 14.1

Whereas in a more searching analysis:

Our Poll Finds A Majority Of Americans Think The Evidence Supports Trump’s Removal

But in the latest installment of our survey with Ipsos, where we use Ipsos’s KnowledgePanel to poll the same group of respondents every two weeks, a majority (57 percent) of Americans said they think Trump committed an impeachable offense. Fifty-two percent said they think Trump’s actions regarding Ukraine or his refusal to cooperate with the impeachment inquiry constitute enough evidence to remove him from office.

Americans’ feelings on impeachment are increasingly certain

Over the past few waves of the survey, as we check back in with respondents, we’ve been keeping an eye on a small but crucial group — those who are less certain about whether Trump committed an impeachable offense, and are therefore perhaps more likely to change their minds about whether he should be impeached and removed from office. And while the overall share of respondents who think Trump committed an impeachable offense hasn’t really shifted, there is evidence that people are getting more certain in their views — and those people mostly think Trump did something impeachable.

Back in mid-November, when we polled respondents for the first time, people who thought Trump had committed an impeachable offense weren’t much more certain of their view than people who believed he hadn’t. About 75 percent of respondents who thought Trump’s behavior was impeachable were either “absolutely” or “pretty” certain of their view, compared to 71 percent of people who thought Trump’s conduct wasn’t impeachable. Now, though, 81 percent of respondents who think Trump committed an impeachable offense are certain of their view, while the share of respondents who think Trump’s conduct isn’t impeachable is at 72 percent, without a similar uptick.

This isn’t a huge swing, of course. But because it’s proven exceptionally difficult so far to change Americans’ minds about Trump’s impeachment, any shifts — even if they’re relatively minor — are worth noting. This doesn’t mean that the expected outcome of the Senate trial will change, but there is evidence that some of those potentially persuadable respondents have been drawn more firmly into the pro-impeachment camp over the course of the process.

A new batterie technology being launched to the World energy storage market is a game changer. The Ion age is here and now.

Kyocera to launch world first SemiSolid lithium-ion battery

The Japanese electronics giant is offering a new cell architecture developed by battery start-up 24M, in the U.S., which significantly improves battery economics. Kyocera will be the first company to bring the technology to market.

With an higher energy density, lower manufacturing costs and improved safety, the companies involved claim SemiSolid will become the new standard for lithium-ion cells.

Kyocera is doing its bit to accelerate the battery storage price revolution by launching the Enerezza residential storage fleet. The product will be available in 5, 10, and 15 kWh models and the devices will feature semi-solid lithium-ion battery architecture – a world first

The manufacturer claimed last year those benefits would add up to a capital requirement which is half that of conventional lithium-ion energy storage products. The start-up had already claimed to have achieved energy density of 350 Wh/kg with its SemiSolid cell architecture by that point.

“Kyocera and our customers benefit from long battery life, unparalleled safety and the low-cost approach enabled by 24M’s unique manufacturing process,”

Re : Kyocera to launch world first SemiSolid lithium-ion battery

Now we are starting to see the fruits of the $$$ Billions that have been spent on battery research in the past 10 years.

A lot of which can be considered Barak Obama's greatest legacy because of the funding/grants his administration oversaw.

Unfortunately for us here in Aotearoa the 9 years of Gnat government turned our our collective mindset back 50 years and the current 'talk & hope' administration does not have the muscle to reverse this.

Our electric energy sector needs a blowtorch taken to it but the only 'action' on energy we've seen from the Coalition is the ill conceived ban on new petroleum exploration whilst continuing to spout support for the unsustainable and energy filthy Tourism "industry'' .

I hope that this equipment will become available here in the near term but the Green Energy industry has written our small market off as not worth the cost/effort and many new and beneficial technologies are simply not being marketed here.
