   The issues we need to deal with and their solutions will depend on when we act. If we start now for example, we can build lots of infrastructure and houses with debt, which can create the conditions for future economic growth to pay for many of the liabilities of ageing we have not saved for.

   the shitty one could have had a good presidency had he started his job with Infrastructure week rather then with a Muslim Ban, Family separation, Baby snatching and selling of the highest bidder (i think Besty de Vos calls this profit driven Godly adoptions), forced baby birthing by immigrant children (tracking of their menstruations cause can't have an abortion) and so on.

   But nah, the shitty one is shitty, never has been anything else but shitty and it is the most marginalized in the US that will have to pay the price, women, poor women, women of color and their children. Cause the bible says so and the men have no issues taking women and their children back to the dark ages. After all no man will ever be denied health treatment because he is pregnant or pre-pregnant.

     Irony can be a sick taskmaster – the loss of future fertility is the all to common outcome of not dealing with complications of pregnancy.

     But your right Sabine – a lot of this has nothing to do with babies at all, but the desire of many on the right, and some on the left to control women and push them back into a position of subservience.

     On the plus side, Bernie talked broadly about this issue last night in the Dem's debate.

     He was quite good in calling out the hypocrisy of the right for screaming blue bloody murder about wanting small government, but then using the full power of the state to control women's bodies.

       The current US Justice Department position is that any DOJ investigation into alleged presidential misconduct would need to be reviewed and adjudicated by Congress, which would then choose to impeach a President or leave him in office.

       That does not mean that the President is above the law – indeed the Constitution specifically lists actions such as bribery as being impeachable.

       I suspect that the articles for impeachment drawn up by the House will not refer to "quid pro quo" but to bribery by Trump. (ie "I will not release the aid already approved by Congress until you commit to caring out an Investigation of the Bidens")

   For those that might be distracted into the 'what single events are caused by CC?'

   But that’s the problem when particular events are highlighted by those suggesting the end is nigh. I’ve said it a few times that scaremongering won’t work. Of course it wouldnt go amiss to mention the benefits of climate change. A little balance would go a long way.

     Neither Kalmus nor myself are fearmongering. I wrote a whole post specifically so that we have ways of responding to the seriousness of the situation other than denial. It's an antidote to fearmongering. I'm wondering if you even read it?

     The whole post is predicated on the situation being much more serious than people are willing to admit, or that we are afraid to admit. That is the point of Kalmus' tweet. He's a NASA climate scientist, and he was pointing to the problems of adaptation denialism.

     Benefits of climate change? You now need to demonstrate that you weren't trying to run denialist lines under my post.

   Dr Custard aka nick smith is rather worried and upset about the proposed boundary change.

   The blue rural township of Brightwater will be joining the WestCoast-Tasman electorate, population around 2,100 should the boundary change go ahead, and it will.

   The small rural township is more aligned with West Coast-Tasman than the Nelson electorate, regardless of what Dr Custard says.

       Clydesdales are the best 🙂 And the show in Richmond is celebrating their anniversary so it should extra special. Beautiful location, weather forecast looks great too.

       I really enjoy checking out the creativity in the competitions, scary rides and having a chat to Dr Custard lmao 🙂 Neither the scary rides or Dr Custard come to the Motueka Show which is on the weekend after next 🙂

       Santa Parade is on the Sunday, it will be a mint weekend in Richmond. Could be worth a trip over, with a swim stop at Rabbit Island on the way home. So lucky to live in this region.

      Being a firefighter doesn't necessarily make him a sterling shoe-in for NZ permanent residency. What other aspects to him are there?

        I know, but as a nation, we are do need to seriously reconsider fire fighting capability and resources at this juncture, as well as further funding and resources.

        But just the same, I do understand the point that you make with regard to residency criteria, and that being an upstanding firefighter does not in itself, guarantee that one is of satisfactory character.

        I just saw it, and considered it to be a little odd or unique, and where he is being utilised (but not necessarily used) in some sort of political football match, and hence the post.

      The un-kempt types often unjustifiably being looked at with suspicion, when these other types are creating more damage than Jesse James.
