   Raises the question many have been talking about since the LP conference: Are Goff and the rest of the “old guard” sincere in their change of heart?

   He’s going to have to be genuine to pull this off because he’s a terrible actor. Goff is going to have to candidly say he was wrong, and explain what convninced him to change his mind. This could be a fantastic opportunity if done well. He needs to talk much more about the ‘What he believes in and WHY’ to win over voters. In ‘coming out’, he could cut Key and Crosby and Textor off at the pass when they pull the ‘Is this a cynical and insincere try-on?’ and ‘U-turn’ cards. If pushing those buttons repeatedly elicits convincing, and urgent reasons, they’ll soon change tack.

   If the Goff and the front bench aren’t for real they’re f@#ked.

   The acid test is coming soon. If Goff fails the Labour Party is going to have to abandon TINAL – the is no alternative leader – immediately to survive.

   US NeoLiberal failed society throws up some bizarre situations: !. Dry Drunk Bush has come out from skulking in his Crawford Ranch and said his failure from his Presi days was not privatizing Social Security!!! Not Invading Iraq and causing the premature deaths of over 1,000,000 innocent people and that he is a War Criminal who should be rubbing shoulders with Serb War Criminals in the Hague!
   2. Oprah did a piece the other day about her “fellow Americans” living in tent cities!! Maybe if the tax system was fairer she wouldn’t be a billionaire twice over! and those taxes would be assisting her “fellow Americans” in trouble to live in decent accommodation instead of under blue plastic tarps made in China where so many of their jobs have been exported to for greater profit for the crims in Wall Street!?

     One has to ask the rhetorical question: why?

     In reality of course it takes GUTS to go out and take tear gas, beatings, loss of wages – for days on end. These workers are courageous and are fighting for the interests of working people. They are also quite intelligent, as they know exactly what is at stake and what is being done.

     The Neo-Liberal IMF-style austerity measures are crashing down on all of us, these folks are heroes, despite what the Corporate Media Propaganda says. This is not just about raising the retirement age, that is just the tip of the iceberg.

     There are some great comments here, and of course a few knee-jerk, Fox News style ones as well.

     Workers must not be saddled with the costs to pay for the corruption of the international Bankster Mafia. The rentier parasites are getting away with paying nothing, and recieving massive subsidies at the expense of the public and workers. The crime of the century, and few are acting to stop it. The French workers are at least fighting back. Too bad we do not have international worker solidarity (or even class consciousness)

     We don’t need to read Naomi Klein to know that this is part of the SHOCK DOCTRINE. Remember what happened in Argentina?

   Monopoly profits for banks

   The banks argue they are rewarding their shareholders and just about everyone else through superannuation funds’ holdings of bank shares – and pay billions in tax each year. But the institute’s paper likens the $20 billion it calls “monopoly profits” to a $20 billion tax on the economy, hurting all Australians.

   And they’re hurting us (NZ) as well.

   Contractors are companies, how is wool, or milk, collectivization
   good but in the movie industry its illegal according to the government?

   The SCOTUS declares businesses have rights! It seems all businesses
   are not treated equally.

   Reading the news story about the early deaths for LWE and apparently Paula Rose has reduced the ‘over the limit’ allowance from 10k to 4k. Funny really because I gather that reducing speed limits leads to more accidents rather than reducing them .. according to a British Chief Constable.
   I know after driving at 70<75mph the feeling of relaxation on reducing speed to say 50mph and suspect it can lead to lack of attention in controlling the killing machines we call cars.

     The reason for lowering speed limits isn’t so much because speed CAUSES accidents. The reason is that, if you have an accident at speed there is more likely to be severe damage, especially to human bodies.
