Screw Obama, my vote’s with the shoe thrower.

Funny. He throws a shoe and gets to be “US corporate chosen person of the year, chosen to sell more of our crappy magazines by being controversial rather than deserving”?

I am not sure that is its official title?

But seriously, who would everyone else choose? Obama has not actually done anything yet apart from be elected (and was elected at the end of the year to boot) so he would be a completely idiotic choice of course…

As would Henry Paulson, Sarah Palin and Zhang Yimou – Time runners up.

I would have to have a serious think myself. I can’t think of a single stand out person just at the moment?

  2. Tane 2

I should have pointed out it’s a parody bro, no way Time would make someone like him person of the year.

  3. Bill 3

Bit of a shoo in that one.

  4. Mr Magoo 4

I should have pointed out it’s a parody bro, no way Time would make someone like him person of the year.

heh. I knew it was a parody. Obama is the person of the year!

    http://www.time.com/time/specials/2008/personoftheyear

    Socratic Irony for you?

Bill: Lol. I think you just became my person of the year with that comment…

  5. Ianmac 5

If the chap lived in USA he could now sue the authorites for assault as it seems that some-one, probably Chainey, beat him up for missing his target. If the shoe fits, wear it!

  6. sweetd 6

What has Obama done apart from being elected? Pretty soon be will have to start making decisions and then people won’t like him anymore. Its easy to be god like when you haven’t done anything.

  7. r0b 7

What has Obama done apart from being elected? Pretty soon be will have to start making decisions and then people won’t like him anymore.

Can anyone think of an NZ parallel? Ho!

  8. sweetd 8

    R0b

very true, but the NZ one isn’t on the cover of Time as person of the year.

  9. Ianmac 9

Rob: The parallel might show when and if our bloke can prove that his shoe throwing aim is as true as his word. Then TIME wil tell!

Well I definitely think that Obama deserves to be person of the year. While NZ is going backwards as fast as we can on a decent response to climate change, it really seems like the US is going to start heading in the right direction even faster.

Compare their size to ours, and it’s definitely an overall positive.

Oh, plus he’s just the most inspirational politican in about 50 years.

  12. Rex Widerstrom 12

Heh heh I saw al-Zaidi’s throw, and Bush’s reaction, described as “sock and awe” in a newspaper column. Wish I’d though if that.

captcha: Michelin-ing. How does it know what I’ll be doing over Christmas? 😯

  13. John BT 13

Bill….. you and Munter both deserve a medal.

  14. ak 14

Hmmmmmm………sock and awe indeed, this could catch on as a form of protest……”Give em the boot!” “flip-flop flings for freedom”……random acts of sandalism against the well-heeled…..brogue gangs of Shining Pathfinder Jandalistas training in the Ureweras…..

  15. Bill 15

    John BT

Awfully gracious of you dear chap. I’d settle for affordable top stitched resoleable leather footwear. A pair of. Thankyou.

    Good sort.
