Another free pulpit for the slimeball. No producer of any integrity would invite such a compromised person to provide political commentary in an election period. No person of integrity would accept such an offer.

Please let’s lodge complaints, or they’ll do more of it.

” No producer of any integrity would invite such a compromised person to provide political commentary in an election period”

its not about difference of opinion – its about allowing tarnished goods air time when they have shown to be fake

your assertion exists only in your head

  2. Paul 2

    Unbelievable.
And then even no questions for that puppet Woods as to his involvement in the whole story.
TVNZ massively compromised by all this..and selection of Nat popinjay Hosking to moderate debates.
    State broadcaster.
    What a joke!

Watch them squeal though like stuffed pigs WHEN there’s a change of government. There WILL be change – you can bank on it. They’ll be screaming about how it’s all revenge and unfair and we were only doing our job.
Bear in mid though that the BBC is suffering from the very same ‘stacking the deck’ process. I’m not sure there are too many places left there though …. they’re after a few more managers I guess whilst the actual journalists are busy looking around for alternatives. I suspect most of our jonolists are a little too late out of the starting blocks.

  3. Skinny 3

It is no worst than Mike Williams being on the show, they pretty much cancel each other out when you have opposites on the panel, so I don’t have a problem with it.

However Corin Dann makes me sick, today’s performance was particularly bad. Laughing along with Nike Smith and then hounding the crap out of Tyford for an exact figure was poor form. Mind you Tyford was piss weak PC in his showing.

He should have been shown some previous footage of Unionist Bob Reids cameo appearances, and then gone on Q & A ripping the shit out of smug Smith and Nationals lousy job of sorting out the housing crisis in this Country. A lost opportunity there.

    • Paul 3.1

Not sure Mike Williams has any links to Slateresque style politics and muckraking.
      Have you read the book?

      • Skinny 3.1.1

Ha ha just grateful not in it, not yet just seen and herd the filth.

      • alwyn 3.1.2

You should go back and have a look at the 2008 election then. Mike Williams, then the Labour Party president, wandered off to Australia during the latter part of the campaign promising that he would return with proof that John Key had been involved in something called the Hfee.
He hadn’t and Williams returned with his tail between his legs. Helen Clark was not amused as she had apparently believed the story.
Of course Williams and the Labour Party were deep into such things.

        • Pascals bookie 3.1.2.1

That’s hardly similar to a Minister leaking details of a civil servant to a blogger for the sole purpose of having the civil servant smeared is it?

And when it turned out the civil servant hadn’t done what was suspected, and received death threats from Whales howling mob, Collins DGAF.

        • Visubversaviper 3.1.2.2

When they are really pushed they come up with the “Mike Williams went to Australia to dig up dirt” line. That is the only comparison they can dredge up. Mike Williams goes to Aus to verify something before anyone makes an accusation. Wasn’t a story and went nowhere. Shows how desperate the Tories are getting.

          • alwyn 3.1.2.2.1

The reason I commented on Mike and his abortive trip to Australia was that I was replying to Paul who said
“Not sure Mike Williams has any links to Slateresque style politics and muckraking”.
It would have been rather silly to mention anyone else if you were giving an answer to that comment wouldn’t it?

If you want someone else of course we could always bring up Phil Goff.
Just a couple of items that come to mind are the fact that he lied about whether he had been briefed by the SIS. What he did was to call the civil servant involved a liar and also someone who was not carrying out his duties which require him to brief the Leader of the Opposition, which Phil was at the time.
The second of course is his claim that Don Brash had told the US Government that the nuclear ban would be “gone by lunchtime” He said that a civil servant in MFAT had told him about it, thus putting doubts about anyone present as to their probity.
The statement was never made, as shown by WikiLeaks. The people involved had said, in confidential notes for the State Department, that Brash had never said any such thing.
In other words Goff simply made something up to try and smear Brash.

Helen Clark also “confirmed” false information about something the Police Commissioner was supposed to have done. It wasn’t true but it caused the Herald, which was a rather better paper in those days to run the story. That basically forced the Commissioner to resign, even though he hadn’t done anything wrong at all.

            • framu 3.1.2.2.1.1

yes but getting back to your point – your forgetting that the MSM also went digging in aussie on h-fee and it was the msm that aired their findings – not the findings of mike williams. He was dragged into the story as a result.

        • Rodel 3.1.2.3

          Alwyn
Williams didn’t ‘wander’ he didn’t ‘promise’ he hasn’t got a’ tail’ and you don’t have insight into the mind of Helen. Could you try to use less Ansell type language and stick to realspeak.

    • North 3.2

Skinny @ 3 – Have your powers of discernment deserted you man ? There is VAST, and as we now know always was, DIFFERENCE between Farrar the ‘commentator’ and Williams the ‘commentator’. On the matter of dirty attack politics Farrar is a complicit actor who has denied none of it……in stark conrast Williams is merely in the audience so to speak.

Conflate Farrar’s long term deceptions with Williams’ transparent 4 day investigative trip to Melbourne if you will, but to do so would be to inflate a bubble.

As someone very aptly said, think it was Phil Ure, you might as well wheel in Slater/Ede as ‘commentators’ on the matter. Indeed. Or Hager come to that.

It’s tiresome but necessary this afternoon to put a bit of time into a formal complaint to TVNZ. It’s unconscionable that the viewing public should be so glibly disrespected.

On a point slightly removed have to say that Patrick Gower has redeemed himself just a bit with his relative upfrontness towards TheGodKey over his schoolboy-like obfuscations – “I”, “Me”, and “the PM’s office”. I reserve the right to withdraw that acknowledgment if Gower hits us with a stunning scoop along the lines that Cunliffe is known to have farted malodorously at the opening of Parliament a decade plus ago.

      • Rodel 3.2.1

        North
Agree . I have to be careful- I nearly admitted that Gower is a real journalist. Judgement reserved like you until the fartreport..

  4. Enough is Enough 4

Q & a generally has someone from the right and someone from the left. I don’t have a problem with that.

If anything having dpf on isn’t a bonus for the right. He’s a penguin that sounds like a he was dropped on his head

  5. Jrobin 5

Poor David giggling and trying to look normal and friendly. I’m fine with him representing the Right, he does symbolise the current state of affairs rather vividly. Out of touch, nervous and a declared ally of Mr Sater.

    • i thought it was fascinating how he washed his hands of the whole affair thru the whole appearance…

..and also much wheedling on show…

..an unsettling to watch mix/mash-up of uriah heep and gollum…

      ..farrar doing ‘what..?..me..?’..

..i’m sure mora will have him and that frontperson for that rightwing attack site..what’s his name..?

      ..something old testament biblical..isn’t it..?

..mora will have them both on his panel next week..

      ..mora doing:..’dirty politics..?..what dirty politics..?’..

      • Chris 5.1.1

It beggars belief that RNZ are still hosting Hooton and Farrar allowing them to comment on their own filth as if nothing’s happened. It’s as if it’s all just too big for RNZ and the media generally to comprehend so they put their heads in the sand and pretend it’s not real. As Danyl McLauchlan has said on The Dim-Post, these people are truly awful. Do Ryan and Mora really understand who they’ve got on their shows? Surely Ryan must be aware of things – what Hooton did was unforgivable. If she doesn’t she ain’t a political journalist’s backside. Maybe there’s something in those accusations of her being a lightweight after all?

        • shona 5.1.1.1

Kathryn Ryan wouldn’t know which way the ground was pointing. She is one of the primary reasons I turned Nat Rad OFF some years ago.Intellectually lazy and poorly read. She is spectacularly uninformed for someone in her position. Also she doesn’t look after her voice.
Bit of a muppet I reckon.

  6. RedLogix 6

No problem with party aligned commentators – just so as it’s very clear what their affiliation is.

Presenting Farrar as some kind of objective, neutral observer is a farce beyond all reason.

    • factchecker4all 6.1

“Presenting Farrar as some kind of objective, neutral observer is a farce beyond all reason.”

Bit like Mike Williams then ?

      • Chris 6.1.1

Williams is just a self-important pompous old idiot, that’s all.

        • Rodel 6.1.1.1

No I’ve met him a few times. He’s smart, experienced, knowledgeable, successful pretty tough and left leaning. Helen Clark respected him and in spite of a few ‘I agree with Matthews’ he is still on our side.

          • RedLogix 6.1.1.1.1

When Mike Williams is presented it’s usually mentioned that he is an ex-President of the Labour Party. Everyone is clear where he comes from.

Much less so with Farrar who slides in under the radar in all sorts of settings – and the fact that he earns his income mostly by working for National is never mentioned IIRC.

          • Chris 6.1.1.1.2

Hope so, but then why doesn’t he take Hooton to task? He let’s so many opportunities go one surely can’t help thinking he’s well within Labour’s right-wing.

  7. disturbed 7

TV one promised David Cunliffe they would present a unbiased “impartial” election coverage remember?

But this is so right wing shit has Goebbels/Joyce’s hands all over this rubbish media stuff.

Excuse me I have to go & throw up, it makes me sick.

  8. disturbed 8

Over on TDB is this video message to National from Whale oil

Thanks to Rat fucker, – Whale Oil is taking the National Party.

    Now that’s balanced media.

  9. FLV 9

Generally I think the media have been favouring the left this time around – as it would make a much more interesting next three years for them. Fair enough to look after their jobs.

But I think the coverage of the Dotcom chap is had made him (literally) the elephant in the room for the left. And if his promised revelations 5 days out from the election give IMP a last minute boost in profile and a jump in the poll – then the I think middle NZ will be rightly concerned and the swaying vote will all go to the Nats and they will be able to govern alone.

If anything the Hager stuff has reduced Nats polls enough to avoid complacency on vote day so not sure if that’s not a bit of an own goal. Also I think Cunliffe should have distanced Labour from hacking emails – and taken the high ground on this which would have avoided the drop he got in the polls.

Also this is first time we have seen Phil Goff in the campaign – and all he has done is reminded me of getting caught out about the SIS thing.

  10. North 10

My, the boys and girls of TheGodKey Right are out flashing their smelly botties today ! Poor things. The roster had them miss the latest Walmart opening.

  11. Charlieboy 11

I honestly don’t know how Farrar survived a photo of him dressing up as Jimmy Saville. He believed that it would be funny! What other commentator would get away with that. They took Bradbury off Nat Radio for simply expressing his views in a humorous way. They seem to find Farrars humour more acceptable!

    • felix 11.1

They took Bradbury off for being a deliberately terrible guest.

He’s the last person who should be complaining about q+a’s choice of guests, if he wasn’t such a fuckwit he’d probably be one of them by now.

  12. Anne 12

He didn’t express his views in a humorous way Charlieboy. What he said was basically correct but he did it in an unnecessarily bombastic way. Jim Mora took umbrage and if I had been in his shoes I would have too. It’s a pity because Bradbury has some good political instincts – even if he gets a bit carried away sometimes.

  13. Charlieboy 13

But Bradbury didn’t dress up as a pervert for a bloody joke! It’s not a joke, it shows a serious lack of judgement on Farrars part. What is wrong with the MSM and others who think that this behaviour is OK. German helmets bad, saying s–t to the media bad, being bombastic bad, satirical songs bad, but dressing up as a sexual predator is acceptable to Nat Radio and TVNZ. No apology, cos it’s just a joke!
No wonder we’ve got the Government we’ve got. People’s standards are very low.
