Save Radio NZ protest today

The Save Radio New Zealand group on Facebook now has 13,600 members and today (the 25th) there will be an event at Parliament between 1 and 2. It won’t be your typical rowdy protest, instead the idea is to bring along your radio and something to eat and drink, and have a mass picnic on the lawn while showing your support for National Radio. As the event invitiation explains:

The Government appears hellbent on driving Radio NZ into the ground. This simply cannot be allowed to happen. Radio NZ is the last true provider of public service broadcasting in NZ.

Show your support from RNZ by joining other Save Radio New Zealand fans for a wee protest down at Parliament on Thursday. The idea is to bring lots of little portable radios for tuning in to RNZ National.

Broadcasting Minister Jonathan Coleman is already starting to feel the pressure from the public over his silly move to undermine Radio NZ. His caucus colleagues are fielding loads of emails from disgruntled constituents and the tough questions are starting to be asked over his handling of this issue.

To keep the pressure on Coleman we need a good turn out at Parliament. Bring your friends, pack a picnic and have a good time.

Meanwhile, the Don’t Save Radio NZ group is now up to 31 supporters. Nice work guys.
