I think that your comment is supporting my point. Vegetarianism requires some degree of mindfulness in dietary planning (what I describe as a 'great deal of planning and management' - you describe as progressive changes - but it's still planning which ...
Well, 'sorted' in your own mind, which is apparently the only one that is important to you. You will no doubt note, and discard, the fact that you seem to have garnered zero support on the site for your concept.
Your anecdata fails to convince. I know 3 centenarians who regularly enjoy a good fry up. I don't regard them as an advertisement for that dietary lifestyle. Rather, that they've survived that long, despite a diet full of fat, not because of it.
You seem to have missed the "if the diet is not carefully planned" - section of the sentence. Even those with the most cursory acquaintance with vegetarianism/veganism know that you have to plan, to address the risk of Vitamin B12 deficiency - for example.
I'm pointing out that your increasingly extravagant language is alienating. If you truly do desire to convince, rather than posture, you might reflect on why you are failing to do so.
You are either vegetarian..or carnivore. A remarkably silly statement - all humans are adapted to eat an omnivorous diet. It is possible (with a great deal of diet planning and management) to eat an exclusively vegetarian diet - and remain healthy. An ...
But happy to throw derogatory terms around "flesh-addict" https://thestandard.org.nz/open-mike-11-04-2024/#comment-1996022 Every comment you make on this topic implies that those who make other choices are less 'worthy' than you are. I would say that you ...
Was entirely charmed by the prospect of a place called "Bunnythump" - sadly google suggests that it's really "Bunnythorpe".
If only Vegan Greens can be 'worthy' in your book - you're going to end up in an increasingly isolated minority.
And no I was not calling you a white settler, but the underlying influence as a set of ideas it has on society in general. And the same holds true for the religious fundamentalist philosophy. Which is entirely relevant in discussing the Middle East.
The one the individual concerned is experiencing.....
Most of which, while arousing hatred in the political opposition, goes down rather well with their core constituency. What will be interesting is to see if/when their policies start to impact on their voters. "It's the economy, stupid" - is just as ...
Tell me one Muslim state in the Middle or Near East which has not effectively removed the entirety of their Jewish population. Here's a start..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_exodus_from_the_Muslim_world Why would Palestine be any different? Or ...
Human error it shall be. Covering my head in ashes! :-)
So the Irish diaspora doesn't exist. Or the African Americans? Newsflash. None of those people want to go 'home' - they've built new lives elsewhere - with a better future for their kids. And while the first generation struggles (all immigrants do) - the ...
Israel should be wound up as a failed state full stop. I find it difficult to understand your definition of a 'failed state'. It seems to me that the general complaint is that Israel is all too capable at exercising control over the land and people - not ...
Yes. Better in exile, building a new life, than dead. Although, not in the mind of religious extremists. Most Kiwis have come to terms with the fact that they will never regain ancestral land. They build new lives. And create a future for their kids, ...
NB: Mods. Don't know why this reply (at 5) didn't 'nest' as a response to 4.2.1 Reading/writing on a desktop PC. No biggie if it was just one of those mysterious internet things (or even, gasp, user error). But just in case others are experiencing this.
Not the solution, a solution. Interesting that you, apparently, would rather people continued to be killed, than offer them the chance to emigrate. The people involved (cf Amr, which you linked to initially), would seem to disagree. .... Religious ...
Time to judge when we see the effects of his decisions. Will the Ministry of Regulation actually result in a net reduction of Government spending? Will the charter schools be more cost-effective than the regular school system?
Every child's death is a tragedy to their family. We all wish the fighting would stop. Now. But it won't. Nothing you, or I or even the NZ government can do, will persuade or influence the Israeli government to stop this war. Where is the pressure to force...
Or sack the mayor and all of the Councillors and appoint statutory managers..... There are always ways to save money.
Approximately 350 in Auckland - I doubt the rush hour traffic would even have noticed - if it weren't for the strange closure of SH1 between Parnell and Grafton - for 30 minutes. https://twitter.com/WakaKotahiAkNth/status/1776095461868237196?ref_src=twsrc%...
Well, why do you think they can stay? There are places which no investment of money can make safe (sea level rise, river flood plain, unstable cliffs). Is it better to just go on band-aiding? Paying to rebuild (or 'earthquake strengthen') in the same ...
I think you'll find that your $100K is in relation to stand-alone referendums. The proposal is that the referendum would be held as part of the 2025 local government election - so significantly cheaper. There are always costs associated with democracy.
Problem with 'cheap' insurance, is that the government can't afford to pay out if/when a disaster happens. Spreading the risk to the insurance companies (who then reinsure off shore) - is the only way that NZ can afford it. If Wellington properties are ...
Road in/out (there is only one) is subject to landslips. All properties are affected by this risk. Any claims that 'some' properties are unaffected by risk is highly suspect. The properties which aren't perched on hillsides are at sea-level (pick your ...
What I mostly take from those figures is that all of the changes are within the margin of error. Effectively a 'no change' poll, so far as political support goes. NB: there's an awful lot of column-filling inches padding out this non-result.... The right/...
PU. Suggest you look at some pictures of fat people - not a wrinkle in sight.
We see this on the North Shore, every time there's a storm, bits of the heavily-developed clifftop properties drop away onto the beach. In the 'old days' of small houses and bachs - there was a decent set back from the cliff-edge to the house. Now, with ...
So what's your solution for the Auckland West Coast coastal communities? Because I absolutely guarantee that Auckland ratepayers aren't going to bail them out a second time. Nor do I see why taxpayers should, if sensible managed retreat options aren't ...
