My understanding is that Grant Robertson is only a “shareholder” in that he is the Crown’s representative on the Air NZ board. It was at his insistence that the fares were dropped.
Race Unity Day at Victory Square in Nelson on Sunday. An opportunity to show our respect, solidarity and compassion.
Channel 9 from Sydney reported earlier that he went to highschool in Grafton, NSW then travelled extensively for seven years. It seems he only recently arrived in NZ - he didn’t grow up here.
I definitely do not want to enter any discussion or argument about vaccinations but it is rather amusing that an article about measles includes the statement "...there has been a rash of recent cases in the South."
So good to wake this morning to the sound of rain on the roof. The trees and plants in my garden are starting to quietly sing. Really enjoying that it’s a Sunday as well so that I have the time to simply watch it forming puddles on the paths.
Just went outside to see if I could see the flames. Sure can - right along the ridge over a much bigger distance than was discernible when it was light. Helicopters have headed back to base for the night so just those on the ground there now. Stay safe ...
If anyone is interested in knowing more about Chinese Astrology, here is the forecast for the year from Lillian Bridges who lives in the US but learned from her Chinese grandmother. Very well respected author, speaker and teacher. https://flowermountain....
Richie McCaw’s choice of friend is the thing that concerns me most. I admire his drive and his many achievements - I wasn’t going to watch that movie about him but did so when sleep was eluding me on a long haul flight. I’m pleased I did and was left with ...
I see that jonkey and Richie McCaw are guests on Seven Sharp this evening. Good reason not to watch.
Unfortunately a lot of what we see as corrupt behaviour is simply normal business procedure in China.
Agreed - I keep getting messages from friends and former colleagues in Oz asking if they can please have Jacinda - or at least share her.
Golriz is a very intelligent young woman who has courage beyond her years - due in part, I imagine, because of what she has experienced in her life thus far. Being prepared to speak out about matters she cares about and are of importance to those around ...
Sorry - didn't mean to post that twice. Can someone remove the second one? Thanks.
Thanks Ad - a glimmer of hope then that it still may not progress. Our water rates are already the highest in the country and our land rates second highest. There is no doubt the cost of the dam will continue to escalate as they have not even factored in ...

Don't even know what to say about this. https://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/news/106835760/tasman-district-council-decides-to-proceed-with-controversial-waimea-dam-project As one commenter below the article suggests - maybe we just wait until next week's ...
Happy to back up that anecdote re being able to tolerate wheat/gluten in some European countries. That is definitely the case for me and I have relayed that information to many friends, colleagues and acquaintances who are heading to that part of the world...
Thanks Anne. My daughter met Helen Clark in London at the screening of her (Helen's) recent film. They had their photo taken together and my daughter's smile was a mile wide.
I applaud Jacinda for managing as well as she has thus far. I am in awe of how well she handling her responsibilities with such grace and warmth. 20 odd years ago, as a young mum living in Australia with a small child I often used Helen Clark as an example...
Thanks for that Greywarshark Maybe the worker was related to Richard Kempthorne? He doesn't understand much that is said to him either.

Just to counter that, I run a small business and every year for the last eight years June and July have been my quietest months. This year June was considerably up and July has been the busiest it has ever been. Not just the busiest July - the busiest ...
And those of us in Tasman are delighted. It wasn't going to lead to intensification of Golden Bay (too hard to get the water over or through the marble mountain) but the people of Golden Bay were expected to help pay for it. The only ones who were going to...
The Nats may be in for a surprise if they really do believe that the "Asians" will vote for them just because they have in the past. They may well find that the vote will go with the current government as that is where they are likely to have the most ...

Very wise words from Donna Kerridge about Maori health - and the health of all kiwis. I don't know anywhere near enough about Rongoa Maori but what I do know is that it makes a lot more sense than the over-prescription of drugs and surgery. Just thought ...
