Any reason why TS is not showing the most recent posts in my Feedly? Hasn't for a few days now.
Interesting informal poll in today's Hawkes Bay Today, a rag that usually parrrots the Herald's lines. Out on the street Labour is ahead when it comes to the party vote. Looks like a change is going to come in the Napier electorate.
So in a nutshell Labour believe in putting resources into children first. Nact believe in putting money into more management layers, private/charter schools and constant testing. Fixed it for you.
I know Chris Hipkins gets little change around here but he's certainly making the right noises about education. http://howmelulaterseesit.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/what-i-saw-and-heard-sue-moroney-and.html
So now according to iwi leaders we teachers are supposed to shut up and say nothing even if we see the continual eroding of our education system. http://www.voxy.co.nz/national/nzei-protest-action-tramples-honour-our-nation/5/185968
Yeah strangely this announcement and the SST editorial that attacked the NZEI's stance on wonder principals made me wonder if it's "let's get at teachers week" to make a distraction.
How many more stupid ideas can Parata come up with? http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11220325
Yeah and TV 1 lead story is Lorde at the Grammys. Green's education announcement comes 2nd.
“Sometimes these guys get really, really distracted and they need help. They can still be good farmers again.” Replace the word farmers with say "teachers" or "nurses" and it would be a different story.
Charter Schools-a way to make money for the 1%. http://www.forbes.com/sites/greatspeculations/2013/09/10/charter-school-gravy-train-runs-express-to-fat-city/?utm_source=hootsuite&utm_campaign=hootsuite

A simple but informative reflection on the Budgets implications for Education. http://localbodies-bsprout.blogspot.co.nz/2013/05/education-vote-private-sector-win.html
Remember School Journals along with other ministry published material when you were at school. Well this is what the govt is doing to them. http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA1305/S00109/government-urged-to-save-the-school-journal-and-learning-media.htm
It seems the whale and his followers have been involved in a stoush over a Facebook page aiming at generating discussion over the (non) merits of Charter Schools. Here's the page owner's take on it. http://howmelulaterseesit.blogspot.co.nz/2013/04/beware-...
As a teacher this article annoys me. Obviously published at the beginning of the school holidays to generate more anti feeling towards teachers and imply that they are having even more time off. The facts are shoddy-I don't know of any school that would ...
I know some people around here have it in for Chris Hipkins but this speech he gave to the Auckland Primary Principals Association yesterday gives me some hope that Labour's education policies are on the right track. Shame the speech hasn't been reported ...
Yeah. Andrew, seal clubber, Hore comes to mind there.
As if schools didn't have enough to deal with with Novapay. Nearly every teacher in NZ has a laptop provided funded by both the MOE and the School. Lease deal has MOE paying one third and school or teacher paying two thirds. Sometimes they may be used in a...
So Wynton Rufer wants a charter school now. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/education/8256624/Rufer-pushes-for-football-playing-charter-school And just for good measure indulges in a spot of misguided union bashing.
If by that comment you are implying Labour is to blame then technically yes as they started the process.....2 months before they lost the election. This current govt have had 4 years to get it right before rolling it out. The testing before roll out was ...
Anybody got any idea why for the last 2 days posts from The Standard are not showing up in Google Reader?
Another great Charter School story! http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/01/03/chicago-charter-schools-rake-in-thousands-in-disciplinary-fees/
While most of the chatter focuses on Key's comments I'm a little pissed off about who it was said to. A group of school children FFS. As a teacher I would never use this language when speaking to them and would be censured if I did. Totally inappropriate.
Yes it is web based and has caused a lot of trouble for the ancillary staff in schools who deal with payroll. Apparently Novopay knew they weren't ready but the MOE insisted they commence operations. Most teacher's thankfully haven't had problems, it's ...
Happening to me too. Just in the last week. Having to use IE just for the standard. Chrome is now opening TS in a different way too.
Two days earlier Parata addressed the NZEI conference. Seems she was as combative there also but this hasn't been reported. Here's a report from someone who was there. She started off by thanking us for doing a great job because NZ is up there in the world...
Did an uninstall and reinstall. Still no luck. Only happens when browsing TS. This is the error message. Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.
Why am I having trouble with TS using Chrome? Getting this message when trying to move from one post to the next. This webpage has a redirect loop The webpage at http://thestandard.org.nz/why-the-left-still-needs-feminism/ has resulted in too many ...
From John Minto Mike Feinberg from KIPP (Knowledge is Power Programme) is coming to New Zealand next week to promote charter schools for the ACT/National government. KIPP provides a hideous caricature of quality edcuation for kids from low-income ...
Parata addresses principals in Nelson and shows her ignorance. (Shanghai is not a country!) http://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/news/7547388/Education-shouldn-t-stand-still-Parata Kelvin Smythe's response. http://www.networkonnet.co.nz/index.php?section=...
Kelvin Smythe is always a good read on educational matters, especially concerning the current situation. Here's his take on a John Roughan editorial from last week. http://www.networkonnet.co.nz/index.php?section=latest&id=431
