I see your argument but I would be happy if I never saw her again.
I missed this one. Not content with insulting NZ voters Judith is branching out across the ditch. https://www.msn.com/en-nz/news/world/jacindas-rival-the-crusher-brands-tasmania-australias-poor-cousin/ar-BB1a2Z3G?li=BBqdg4K&ocid=mailsignout
I'd like to see a poll of polls but no one seems to be doing it. Perhaps there are not enough being done or the frequency is wrong but it seems to have been a good indicator in the past. When you have noisy data averaging out all the effects can be useful.
You are right about timing. There are some unknowns here but it seems unlikely that national would be up after the last few days. The similarity with the RR got my attention and suggests that CB may be overstating support for national as it has done in the...
Does anyone know if there will be a Reid research poll before saturday? those leaked numbers look alot like the last RR. I'm picking another colmar brunton before the debate on thursday.
I like the plan mostly apart from an unrealistic view of where technology will go. I don't blame the GP for that as a lot of other people are buying into the tsunami of technohype currently washing across the world.
True. We don't have "debates" if we ever did. We just have arguments.
They have to look like they are doing something even if there is nothing that can be done. Unfortunately society as a whole is not yet ready to accept that the ultra high consumption era is coming to an end. Even the greens can't openly say that even ...
Definitely a dirty tricks campaign going on.
I know that some will disagree but the current hysterical attack on the green party is starting to smell of dirty politics. Of course the journos are always looking for the latest gotcha and are willing dupes of anyone willing to provide it but it feels ...
Not necessarily. The mayor of tokoroa was informed last night and Chris Hipkins is quoted this morning as saying there is no reason to go to level 4 at the moment so they are probably linked to the existing cluster.
This result does seem a little bit out to me but probably by 5% between the major parties rather than 10%
After a quick look all I can say is that National has gone full on delusional. They seem to still be thinking in terms of economic growth that is simply not physically possible.
I was just getting used to not dreading the next poll after about 11 years of depressing polls. I wonder how many people have forgotten over the last week what has been achieved and who by.
I Have to say that I am skeptical of all opinion polls. But at least this one counters the false narrative that the msm drew from the last couple of polls.
<sigh> I am totally over idiot political journalists who can't understand statistics. They much prefer over analysis of polling noise to anything meaningful. I never believed for a second that Labour was on 50% in the last poll and I doubt if anyone else ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdPqWv-eVIc This is a good video on the potential limits of battery technology.
By "bet the future of the world" I mean that there is a strong tendency to think that we can just swap "dirty" for "clean" technology and carry on with business as usual. There is reason to think that that will never be possible regardless of how good our ...
I'm not holding my breath. The universe is not obliged to make a technology possible for us just because we want it.There are plenty of examples of tech that never get close to their maximum theoretical potential despite decades or even a century of ...
Yep that's the one. My point was that it would be challenging to to build a ship that could match current aircraft although to be fair the southern cross used 1950's era steam turbines and modern diesels would be much better. As for nukes I personally ...
That quote from Kevin Anderson hits the nail on the head. It's not just the low cost but the speed of air travel that increases energy use. It used to take two and a half days to cross the Tasman so you couldn't go to Sydney for the weekend even if you ...
I know that a lot of people will disagree but for me keeping national out of power is well worth it.
As the saying goes politics is the art of the possible. If a CGT isn't widely enough accepted then it can't happen. We my not always like it but that is how MMP politics works. As far as I'm concerned things are heading in the right direction even if it is...
I would like a fairer tax system as much as anyone but at this stage it isn't worth the risk of national getting back in. There is so much that need to be fixed and it will take at least another term or two to reverse the damage that national did.
In 2005 the figure was put at a $1b subsidy a year. It would be more now.
The truckies are being extremely foolish by doing this. Someone may point out that they already get a heavy subsidy from motorists fuel taxes. Oh wait....https://dogandlemon.com/media/petrol-taxes-are-subsidising-trucking-industry
New Zealand journalist's favorite pastime: Over hyped over analysis of statistical noise presented as significant poll shift.
It's worth looking at the RNZ poll of polls analysis. Interestingly two other recent polls have national much lower than colmar brunton. http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/political/345867/poll-voters-broadly-say-yes-to-new-government
