That’s… odd

I was looking through the physical versions of this weeks’ newspapers for something yesterday. I don’t normally do that and I saw some bloody odd stuff.

In the Dom on Tuesday, they said the PM had asked his staff if he could stay in South Africa to watch the Paraguay match. His staff said no.

Wait… the PM wanted to take another week off kicking around South Africa so he could watch a football game? Wait… the PM asks his staff for permission?

In the same Dom, they interviewed Paula Bennett for that ‘University of Life’ section. Asked ‘academic prizes won’ she answers “Third equal in a school synchronised swimming competition. Such proud memories”.

Wait, does Bennett know what academic means?

Btw, my proudest sporting achievement was top of the class in Year 12 Maths.

In Monday’s Herald, there was a piece about school children numbers: “A Ministry of Education spokesman said the growing number of secondary school students and decreasing number of primary pupils appeared to relate to population statistics.”

Wait, are you saying there seem to be changing numbers school children because there are changing numbers children of school age? Those damn population statistics, always making more children.
