National’s Herald shows its true colours

What is happening at the Herald?

Suddenly Rachel Glucina is the breaker of very important political news such as the visits to Dotcom mansion by various politicians. Then Cameron Slater lets bygones be bygones and instead of describing her in derogatory terms praises her journalism. Then John Key says or hints that Slater is his source of information on how many and what visits occurred on stories that Glucina broke.

Then Glucina sets up a corporate box at the Auckland 9s competition and broadcasts via twitter such damaging photos as Judith Collins and Herald editor Shayne Currie in a friendly embrace. And Paula Bennett and ACT leader Jamie Whyte are there and Slater forgets his principled opposition to corporate boxes and also shows up and is photographed. There is even a photo of Slater and Bennett together.

As Giovani Tiso has tweeted the caption could be “Minister of Social Development Paula Bennett, seen here next to guy who laughs at dead children”.

So what game are they playing? There has to be one, the publicity is far too open for this to be a random collection of incidents.
