It’s an election that’s going down to the wire. The energy is there for the left to keep talking to people, and to encourage as many as possible to get out and vote.
Some are voting today because it’s the anniversary of the day women in NZ first got the vote.
2014 marks 121 years of women’s suffrage. In 1893, New Zealand became the first nation in the world to grant women the right to vote.
Suffrage Day (September 19) is a significant day in New Zealand’s history. Suffrage Day provides an opportunity for individuals and organisations to celebrate New Zealand’s suffrage achievements and look for ways to make further progress to benefit women.
