US Leaves Kansas.

The US imposes reckless additional sanctions on Russia. Russia, as is par for the course in such circumstances, expels US diplomats. And a US State Department Official terms that reaction ” a regrettable and uncalled for act.” So, Russia should just have rolled over like a puppy dog looking for a tummy rub?

Meanwhile, Venezuela is holding elections for a Constitutional Assembly that will be tasked with rewriting the constitution. According to the White House, which yes, already has sanctions in place, that’s  dictatorial. And then even more laughably…

“So I want to be careful with what I say but suffice to say, we are very hopeful that there can be a transition in Venezuela and we, the CIA, is doing its best to understand the dynamic there, so that we can communicate to our State Department and to others,” CIA Director Mike Pompeo said during in answer to a question at a security forum.

I hope you get that. According to the official word of the country that sees itself as the world’s defender of democracy and freedom, it seeking regime change in a foreign country is good, while a foreign country holding an election is bad.

Predictably, western mainstream media is marching in lock-step with Washington’s preferred narrative.

Oh. Did I mention the Israel Anti-Boycott Act? I’ll throw it in now. “A minor updating of a venerable statute” according to the Washington Post.

And so it goes on. I wouldn’t expect the sum total of a county’s numerous foreign policies to present as an entirely credible or coherent picture. But hell, with the US, what we wind up with isn’t even merely chaotic so much as an aimless scribble.

But back to my point. I can’t be the only one who’s sick and tired of the media treadmill churning out specious nonsense that we’re meant to accept as news and worthwhile information – am I?

Either way, obviously it’s more than just the US establishment that ain’t in Kansas anymore.
