   For dog owners in Wellingtons western suburbs there is a free and casual meet up at Izard Park at around 5pm each day but especially so on the weekends.

   Its a designated dog park and a good place to socialize your dog whether it be young or old.

   And its a good place to pick up different training tips from other dog owners.

   Its a nice location with a relaxed friendly group of different dog owners attending. If you have children there is a play area in one corner of the park to entertain and exercise them as well 🙂

   Got the boy’s end of season rugby bbq at my place tomorrow arvo. Have marked out a football pitch to scale on the back lawn to keep them occupied.

   He played U7 rippa rugby at College Rifles this year.

   Went to prize giving on Wednesday night and he won “team player” for his team. Dad was proud.

   Hope the Auckland weather breaks for this.

   Last Sunday my wife was working and so I took the kids to an in-line skate park around the corner in Mt Wellington.

   Great couple of hours with the kids for $9.00 a head with skate hire.

   I have a crack in the floor of my fibre-glass shower. Any hints for fixing thereof?

     A porcelain repair kit might cover the crack quite well if the crack itself is still structurally sound. It’s a white two tube epoxy resin which is very hard once set.

   Also make very sure all is dry. You can use a hair dryer on low. Any trapped moisture may cause rot.

   Our iPod has gone missing so we’re using this ‘opportunity’ to see if (legal) music streaming is a better option than iTunes – google music, spotify or something else? I’m wondering if people have had any particular great or awful experiences with these products?

     i love pandora..

     ..how i use it is i have about 35 different genre-stations up and running..

     ..and i have them on random selection..

     ..i find this makes for an interesting variety..

     ..and/but what i find most rewarding with these streamed-stations..

     ..is that they open my ears/mind to music i should know..

     ..and that is quite the gift..

     ..whichever one you choose..i would endorse doing for just that new music reason…

     ..and go wild and crazy with the number of stations you start up..

     ..you can’t break it..eh..?

   Pandora is an alternative as well as the many excellent radio stations on the web such as oz’s triplej, melbournes tripleR, PBS etc but be quick with JJJ as Oz tories have begun the slash and burn on public media.

   Youtube has just about everything and many high quality live concerts of pretty much anyone esepcially the events such as lolapalooza, glastonbury etc its where I go for some retro action on anything from the 70’s on.

     Thanks tc. I just checked Pandora and it’s is not available to me, unfortunately. I live in the wrong country.

     Youtube is only videos, right? I look at it quite a lot, however, I’m just interested in the audio – saving the downloads to my smartphone as well as having them available on other devices and playing through one of those awesome little portable speakers. I also am old-fashioned enough to like to play albums, so was thinking more along the lines of a service where I can download audio in this sort of format.

       Plenty of complete albums where the vision is often just the cover or vinyl playing. Space is cheap so grab the files and shuffle between your devices it’s better than iTunes IMO as its free currently. Fill ya boots I say .

         you can also just strip the audio into an mp3 track.
         Been a while since I’ve done it, though, so can’t remember the programme I used, but a quick look at VLC media player indicates that will do it in a reasonably straightforward manner

           Thanks for your thoughts people, I’ll have a go at converting the audio from youtube tomorrow and see what happens.

   Spotify annoys me mainly because it slows things down during startup. I’d go for Youtube, possibly selecting one of those playlists people set up so the videos run automatically one after the other which is good background.

     Yes, I’ve used the free spotify and agree, it’s start-up routine is frustrating. I’m not sure if the pay version would be as bad. Some of my family use Spotify, but Google actually starts up a lot faster. Whether the service is any better remains to be seen at this stage.

    Just been for a drive out of town. Theres lambs and calfs looking good all about. Daffs coming out, blossom. Looks like spring has sprung!

    Over the past few years laybys along main roads have been festooned with roosters. Now they are rare and jumpy. Pity they provided entertainment along the way.
