No politics, no aggro, why can’t we all just get along?

Right now My Esteemed has those little New World cardboard seedling holders all along the kitchen and dining room window sills. 153 of them, and increasing.

The herb garden is now overtaken with beans and peas that are now really kicking off after a cold start …

.. and we have six sets of tiny ducklings running around the place, hanging about under the birdfeeders. At least as a result we have no slugs or snails anywhere.

So I suspect it’s another weekend of gardening and extended family stuff at ours.. We will probably see more of these little seedlings colonising the lower bathroom, the upstairs, and where on earth are we going to put them all? The vegetables are revolting.

Likewise gardening. Staying off the roads – be careful out there people…

I’m taking groups of blossom-fanciers through my forest-garden to view the apple blossom which is spectacular right now! We’ve around 90 heritage apple trees giving their all, with some of the pears and plums still showing their blossoms. In the understorey, there’re bluebells and snowdrops still, and blue alkanet galore. The cow parsley flowers are a drift and the red, black and white currants are resplendent with fruits! These are good times and I feel pressed to enjoy them 🙂

Happy days walking round your garden Robert.

Made me think back 50 years to hot spring days with blossom and bees.

COME TO THE NGATIMOTI FESTIVAL 🙂

It’s on Sunday at Ngatimoti School in the Motueka Valley

Live music onstage, loads of stalls, food, animals, entertainment etc.
The best place to find seedlings for your vege garden. See you there 🙂

Creating Halloween decorations here, I’ve a goal on the 31st, scare the crap out of as many kids who dare to venture up the garden path. Working on some zombies, gigantic spiders etc using recycled materials, it’s a crack up.

Have you come across the people promoting maca from Peru? They are trying to hold onto their traditional crop which has been undermined by Chinese merchandising and genetic interference. There is an attempt to build a direct farmers market without at present any middleman such as Trade Aid use. I wonder if they would be able to sell and talk about it and show their videos of the Peruvian people working their land. If you know who they could ask, if they haven’t already, could you put it up here.

    Their website is here.

    So rapt!
Had my 6 monthly rheumotologist appointment today and my last 2 blood tests ( for inflammatory markers) have been normal. I put it down to cutting out wheat and dairy and taking 4000 mgs of vitamin D per day. No more heavy duty meds with their horrible side-effects for me.
And National are out. What bliss!

    • weka 7.1

Nice one! Did the rheumatologist get it?

    • Patricia Bremner 7.2

Thanks beatie. What did you replace wheat (wheatbix ) and dairy with??

      • beatie 7.2.1

        Hi Patricia.
I never ate much bread so it wasn’t hard to cut it out. I make pikelets using buckwheat and rice flours sometimes. I don’t like the gluten free breads or flours plus they’re expensive. Didn’t use much milk so now its almond milk on my muesli. I miss cheese but am OK with goats milk feta.

        Its been well worth it.

Hereditary rare familial cancer has reared it’s head again and we are going up to Waikato Monday so that my daughter can have a week of tests then a future major operation in the near future. Bastard usually targets the adrenal glands. I’ve lost both of mine and my daughter has had one removed. It’s easy… lose it or die of a stroke or heart attack.

A routine MRI after a raised blood test has unfortunately shown a number of masses so we are not happy.
She had a PET Scan the other day.

    Being a parent isn’t easy.

Imagine facing this in the US…. No insurance because it’s pre existing and probably no house and bankruptcy around the corner if you couldn’t pay.

So pleased we have a new government but this has taken all the enjoyment out of it for me.
