Does Key give a damn any more?

My old man, a casual observer of politics, said the other day: “John boy doesn’t look like he wants to be there anymore”. I reckon he’s right. Except when he’s doing photo-ops, Key looks ever more grumpy and aloof. No wonder he’s spending so much time overseas. No wonder he’s making such bad decisions:

• betraying his promise to the Pike River families
• back-flipping on the youth wage to drive more young people (who have also seen the cost of education go up) overseas
• shrugging his shoulders with indifference when we’re warned that the company building our broadband is dodgy
• failing to use basic political skills to manage the Dotcom issue
• and walking into a trap by denying the manufacturing crisis, despite the evidence before everyone’s eyes.

Dad reckons the polls will have National below 40% next year, and Key will jump ship. Go off to Hawaii – Planet Key on Earth. I reckon he’s on to something.
