More dim bulbs

Yesterday I posted on John Key being named “Dim bulb of the week” by the San Francisco Examiner. Continuing with a dim bulb theme – let’s talk about Edison Hour.

You’ll recall (I hope!) that Earth Hour is an annual event, a world wide action designed to raise awareness on issues of energy conservation and climate change. Hundreds of millions of people turn of lights and appliances for an hour. Edison Hour is an attempted counter movement, to “celebrate” progress and technology by doing the exact opposite, by wasting as much energy as possible. I haven’t seen any estimates on how many people take part in that one.

Are you as puzzled as I am by the mentality behind Edison Hour? Wonder what sort of genius it takes to support such a thing? Well wonder no more gentle reader – all is explained:

Phew! I think you’ll agree, not only is Edison Hour destined to take over the world, but the talent puddle in ACT’s next generation is every bit as deep as the current drips.

Let’s try and salvage something from the wreckage. If you’re actually interested in light bulbs (and who isn’t, deep down), then spend an illuminating 10 minutes reading up on the bizarre history of this wonderful invention. But remember – turn them off next Earth Hour…
