The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

Winston is going to put himself shoulder to shoulder with Bridges right up until the election. Winston isn't silly.

"Even some Democratic officials in Iowa are acknowledging tonight’s debacle has supercharged conversations about taking away the state’s first-in-the-nation status."

"The Iowa Democratic Party has reportedly told presidential candidates not to expect results until tomorrow at the earliest. “They literally have no verified results,” a senior campaign adviser told CNN. “We won’t know anything until some time Tuesday — at least.”
Using snail mail, huh? Trump campaign: "sloppiest train wreck ever". They hardly even need bother stating the obvious, really…
“It’s becoming increasingly likely that candidates will head to New Hampshire with no sense of how they performed in the first voting state.”

Note that at Waitangi, Bridges complained that the Government was "pork barrelling."
Remember the 10 bridges offered by Bridges?
Yeah he’s lucky the crowd at Waitangi was too polite to start chanting 10 Bridges at him.
The crowd at Waitangi are like a pimple on an appendage. The vast majority of New Zealanders don't give a tinkers toss about what is going on in that cess pit of grievance and barrels of pork.
The vast majority of NZers can recognise a self-serving hypocrite when they see one though and that’s what they see in Bridges.
Does the world really need your Klan inspired drivil Ian?
Barrels of pork are great currency. The pork belly on Shane Jones BBQ tonight has been marinaded with taxpayers hard earned cash. Your just jealous you didn't get an invite to pig out at the trough. I am happy paying for his last supper.
Wow, a double down on you Klan inspired BS. What next, fried chicken references?
Pork is more expensive than chicken and your good mates winston and shane buy it by the container load. What was in it for graeme hart ?
Are you so damned lazy that you can't type "you're" when you should, or just too bloody thick to know when you should?
He's a farmer. Polluting New Zealand's water table is his specialty.
Corporate dogs lose court case – then go to war against lawyer who took the case to court. Not only are Chevron never going to pay the money they owe to the peoples whose lives they destroyed. They in all the corporate greed and ego – are going after the lawyer as well.
Funny how many liberal lefty types on this site supported the people who take money from these corporate dogs. h.r.c anyone.

dude, just breathe and let her go.
It's actually a really interesting article about a case and an injustice of which I had previously read very little. The irony of a witness being paid (in a “proper and transparent” manner) to testify that he had been bribed is striking.
The abuse of the civil system in order to avoid jury trials and burdens of evidence is an extreme example of legal abuses inflicted by the giga-wealthy upon everyone else, similar in principle to the basic SLAPP suit.
Jesus politics in Australia is brutish, shitty business.

Just look at the faces – men's faces that is. They remind me of so many of America's male politicians – mostly Repugs. Boorish thugs.
