I know the year is only part way through and that it is election year so there will be endless opportunities for politicians to be really dickish about things but I think we should call it now. We have a winner. No politican will be able to do worse than this.
The smeghead of the year is David Seymour.
Why?
Among all of the stupid things that politicians, mainly right wing politicians, do, what could he have done that was so bad?
Well he made a really bad taste joke about Pike River. Where 29 workers lost their lives because of corporate incompetence and greed. Where families still grieve and want the Government to honour it’s broken promise to bring the bodies out.
Imagine the most stupid thing you could say. It would probably be along the lines of making sure that someone else died in the mine.

Act Party leader David Seymour has been denounced for a joke he made saying he would “close the door” on New Zealand First leader Winston Peters if he re-entered Pike River mine.
During his election campaign, Mr Peters has repeatedly insisted he would only work with a Government which stuck to several ‘bottom lines’ – including manned re-entry into the Pike River mine.

“Re-entry of Pike River is one I agree with, I’ll be there to close the door after him,” Mr Seymour told Newshub.
I suspect that no one, absolutely no one will vote for ACT on the West Coast this year. And for the people of Epsom and I urge you to hold your breath, say a prayer and vote Paul Goldsmith when you vote at this election.
