Except (as related to adam above) it did none of those things
Unfortunately I did read the proposal adam. Simple summary It was stated it was going to get around council borrowing limits but the money markets determined that would be treated as part of the councils assets regardless....and the government was avoiding...
'Achievable' was never demonstrated either Robert, merely the observation we were failing to maintain/upgrade that which was required. And the reasons why we have failed to date are the same reasons we will continue to fail into the future...and 3Waters ...
No I didnt... the case was never made. Strangely the proposal was unable to demonstrate how it was going to reduce the cost of the required infrastructure.
Did you think water infrastructure upgrades were going to be (magically) free under 3Waters?
It is also designed to balance the grid due to increased renewables....without balance the grid goes down. The options to balance that intermittence are limited and simply increasing capacity does not solve the problem. All the options are expensive.......
That National opposed the Smoke Free Act as amended by Labour in 2022 should not surprise anyone Robert. Hardly "A tiny detail mentioned one time by an ACT politician, might indeed surprise a National voter, when it's suddenly front and centre of ...
"So we're going to stand here today and, of course, we're going to oppose this. We're going to oppose it not because we disagree with the end points. I've seen as much clinical harm from smoking as anyone in this House, but we do disagree with the pathway ...
If thats the case then they may be able to address it....time will tell.
"Whether what they campaigned on is sensible or comprehensive or even beneficial voters determined that they preferred it to the alternatives"
Again, which tiny detail?...perhaps you are referring to the repeal of the smokefree regulations? There is opaque....and then theres (deliberately) obtuse.
Which tiny detail may that be?
Our Parliamentary system does indeed give them carte blanche....though not without consequence. However to date (and its only been a little more than a week) they havnt done anything unforeshadowed. As was just mentioned on RNZ , everything that has ...
Surely you are not so obtuse Robert....they are the government ipso facto they have the mandate to implement that which they campaigned upon. Whether what they campaigned on is sensible or comprehensive or even beneficial voters determined that they ...
And what does that tell you about why the Government changed? The new PM is anything but inspirational, he's inexperienced and the Government appears to lack any ideas other than dismantle recent policy....and yet they now lead the Government with a ...

"As he sets out to reclaim control of the political agenda, Luxon has an unwitting and unlikely ally – the Labour Party. Though Labour may be beginning to understand it is no longer the Government, it seems yet to appreciate that that did not happen by ...
As we have learned, Cabinet over-rates its influence....irrespective of political hue.
Ask yourself if you would consider it fair to preclude an immigrant from applying for a position because their standard of english may not be as good as a local....irrespective of their ability to perform the task(s) required.
It strikes me as neither good nor fair. He hasnt refused , though he should be able to, he was simply informed that if he didnt he would not be considered for promotion. If there were two candidates for a position that couldnt be seperated on the ability ...
I imagine many dont have a problem with Glaswegian english either....and many do.
My 'imaginary' son in law works for a local government...and as to whether they adhere to employment law Id suggest there are multiple examples over the decades that they pick and choose which laws they adhere to. Perhaps my grandchildren are imaginary as ...
I cannot elaborate more than that Robert...it was relayed to me that he was told if he didnt speak Te Reo he would not be considered for promotion....as far as I know he didnt enquire what degree of of fluency was required. As said previously it dosnt pay ...
Evidence? I will not dox a family member to satisfy your ego. goodnight.
Again, he may have the option of contesting it....to what advantage? If the organisation (in this instance the Government , who if you may recall, makes the law) determines that de facto those who dont speak Te Reo are not to be in 'management' positions ...
"This does not mean that a public servant must learn the language by 2040, but should at least try to pronounce Maori words and names correctly."
Pardon? He speaks 4 languages, he works for a council, he was told if he didnt learn Te Reo he wouldnt be promoted....if you spoke 4 languages(assumin they knew), and worked for an organisation how long do you think it would be before someone identified ...
Fuck that is such a weak defence....its crap and people voted accordingly The question that ACT is asking may be 'is it illegal?' Can you answer that question?
Your choice. If it was important to you, you would make the effort. Obviously its not.
Bollocks...it is entirely about culture wars. Yes he could challenge it with legal or union advice but where would it leave him (and his family) It is an unspoken and undefined 'requirement'. It is, I suggest a very large part of why Labour were decimated ...
Im pretty confident he can give the usual greetings....no Robert im sad to say the expectation appeared to be fluency (or at least something approaching it)....but then that is much of the problem, nobody knows quite what is expected, do they?
